Smokey Hollow Campground Introduce
For local residents seeking a family-friendly "camping near me" experience in the Lodi, Wisconsin area, Smokey Hollow Campground, located at W9935 McGowan Rd, Lodi, WI 53555, offers a delightful retreat packed with amenities for all ages. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground is a beloved destination, with features like a jumping pillow, multiple playgrounds, a swimming pond with a beach, and comfortable cabin rentals. You can reach them at (608) 635-4806 or +1 608-635-4806 for inquiries and bookings, and discover why so many local families choose Smokey Hollow for their getaways.
The environment at Smokey Hollow Campground is clearly geared towards family fun and outdoor enjoyment. One of the most prominent features mentioned is the presence of a "jumping pillow for the little" ones. This inflatable attraction is a significant draw for younger children, providing a safe and exciting way to burn energy and have fun. The campground also boasts not one, but "two parks" (playgrounds), offering even more opportunities for kids to play, climb, and socialize. Having multiple play areas helps to accommodate different age groups and ensures that there are always options for children to stay entertained.
Water-based fun is another key aspect of the Smokey Hollow environment, with a "swimming pond and beach" being a major highlight. This provides a refreshing alternative to a traditional swimming pool, offering a natural swimming experience with the added enjoyment of a sandy beach area for building sandcastles, sunbathing, or simply relaxing by the water. The pond also contains "stuff in it," which could refer to inflatable water toys or other features that add to the fun and engagement for swimmers. The combination of a swimming pond and beach creates a central hub for summer activities and family enjoyment.
For those seeking more comfortable lodging options than traditional tent camping, Smokey Hollow Campground offers "cabins" that are described as "clean and comfortable." These cabins provide a convenient and cozy base for families to enjoy their stay, offering protection from the elements and the comforts of home while still being immersed in the campground atmosphere. The positive feedback on the cleanliness and comfort of the cabins suggests a well-maintained accommodation option that caters to families looking for a hassle-free camping experience.
One reviewer noted that there is "sand, everywhere" in the campground. While they clarify that this isn't necessarily a negative, it's an important environmental characteristic to be aware of. The prevalence of sand likely contributes to the beach area around the swimming pond and may also be a feature of the playground areas, providing a soft surface for play. However, campers staying in cabins should be prepared to "sweep out your cabin before you check out" due to the sand, indicating that it can easily be tracked indoors. This is a practical tip for those planning to rent a cabin.
While the provided reviews don't explicitly detail other services and amenities, we can infer some common offerings at family-oriented campgrounds. It's highly likely that Smokey Hollow Campground provides restroom and shower facilities for campers. Given the focus on families and cabin rentals, these facilities are expected to be well-maintained and easily accessible. Campsites for tents and potentially RVs are also a standard feature, although the reviews primarily focus on the family-friendly attractions and cabin rentals. It's reasonable to assume that these campsites would include basic amenities such as picnic tables and fire rings.
The mention of a family having a "great time" and looking forward to returning the following year speaks volumes about the overall experience at Smokey Hollow Campground. The fact that one reviewer "bought our own place there" is an even stronger testament to the positive community and enjoyable atmosphere of the campground, suggesting a welcoming and desirable environment that people want to be a part of long-term.
Promotional information is not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. Local users interested in any special offers, seasonal rates, or package deals should contact Smokey Hollow Campground directly at the provided phone numbers. Their website or social media channels, if available, might also provide information on current promotions or upcoming events.
In conclusion, for local residents in search of a "camping near me" destination that prioritizes family fun, Smokey Hollow Campground in Lodi, WI, appears to be an excellent choice. The presence of a jumping pillow, two playgrounds, a swimming pond with a beach, and clean, comfortable cabin rentals ensures that children and adults alike will find plenty to enjoy. While the sandy environment is something to be aware of, it likely contributes to the beach and play areas. The positive experiences shared by returning visitors and even those who have become permanent residents highlight the welcoming atmosphere and enjoyable amenities of the campground. Smokey Hollow Campground Reviews
Love this place we bought our own place there. There is a jumping pillow for the little. Two parks. And little pond with stuff in it.

Not really a negative, just something to be aware of. You'll need to sweep out your cabin before you check out.The swimming pond and beach are lots of fun.
Aug 18, 2024 · Matthew RussellThis is a hard review to write because my family and I had the greatest time there. There was always something fun to do and I thought the staff were great.. however, the cleanliness.. my goodness. It's one thing to have icky bathrooms, but to rent a cabin where it's dirty up on arrival when you are paying for it.. is ridiculous. I didn't make a fuss over it and then about 5 days after camping, our whole cabin broke out in this rash. It started out as looking like a cluster of bug bites.. but guess what!? It was SCABIES. Our whole cabin got them! It's been a few weeks since being there and it had been nearly impossible to get rid of. We brought it back home to the rest of our families from the site and it was confirmed as scabies. We all got it around the exact same time after being in the cabin together. I gave 1 star for rooms and 1 for the location because we literally caught a PARASITE and we were there for less than 24 hours. I would take lice or bed bugs over this. You can't see them, so it's easy to miss and makes it more dangerous. All I know is my life has been insane since coming here and it wasn't worth what it costed. I haven't been able to go to work in 9 days because we keep getting reinfected passing it between family members who didn't even attend the trip with us. It's ridiculous. I've never been so disgusted. I would tell people not to stay here because it's that serious. It's not some infection.. it's an infestation. It breaks my heart how a place so great can lead to something so awful and could literally be fixed with doing proper cleaning. It's enough to make people not return. This is why it's important to follow all the rules and regulations because this is how outbreaks happen.
Aug 24, 2024 · Ashley ZStayed in the Conestoga wagon for 3 nights which was very fun. We normally tent camp so this was a treat! Since there's not a ton of info on the website about the wagons I'll add some info here. There are 2 sets of bunk beds, one queen bed with a full bed on top and a set of twin bunk beds. There's a A/C unit and a space heater tucked in the cabinet for those chilly nights. There's a fridge and freezer, coffee maker , toaster and microwave. There are a set of 5 private bathrooms with showers in the center of the campgrounds, you need quarters for the showers, I believe it was max $1 for 10 minutes with other options for shorter times. There are also a couple of bathroom stalls in front of the grounds next to the shop that has one shower stall in each the men's and women's restrooms. To me, the only downside was the campground was sandy everywhere, which really wasn't that big of a deal. There were lots of fun events that were inexpensive and fun for the whole family. Overall it was very fun and though we like exploring different campgrounds we would gladly return here.
Aug 24, 2024 · Elena ColaianniI'm not sure how to rate this. We had fun, but I think it was more our kids enjoying the kids equipment and us relaxing. We had a site RIGHT by the jumping pillow thing. The kids enjoyed playing on the playgrounds on site. With that said, a lot is really run down. The playground by the wagons was the worst. Usable, yes, but really could use some updates. The arcade area had maybe half the games working and the change machine was inoperable. All the trash (popped balloons) by the jumping pillow should really be picked up. It looked dumpy, not to mention unsafe for toddlers or dogs that may put them in their mouths. There was also garbage on the ground (bottle caps etc). I understand its just common decency for people to pick up their own trash, however, campground staff should be cleaning up a well. The dog run area was nice. And it's a really beautiful location (tall pines etc). Golf carts drive way too fast as well. Our 2nd night someone took their lit up (LED lights) golf cart and SUPER loud bass rap music and parked it by the jumping pillow and just left it there on full blast at 830pm while they were jumping. Oir kids were sleeping in the camper and we were trying to relax. I was THAT person that called the office and I WAS impressed that the young lady who answered immediately responded herself and was out there in less than 5 minutes telling them to turn it off. That was appreciated. The biggest thing that got me and why the lower review was the giant shopping cart. 1) it's EXTREMELY loud and terrified our toddler for the rest of the day. 2) it is EXTREMELY dangerous. It's flew by very fast multiple times between our site and the children's play area. I can't believe it is allowed to go that fast right by the children's play area. If a child darted out it would be disastrous. And 3) I work in insurance and I cannot fathom how that isn't a liability issue and how that is even allowed at the campground. If I had to summerize my points:PROS:-Nice dog run-beautiful location-one nice kids park and also a nice jumping pillow-fast acting staff when called for a noise disturbanceCONS:-run down/dirty/trash on ground-fast golf carts (unmonitored speed)-EXTREMELY dangerous (giant shopping cart and location of usage)-partially inoperable arcade-disrespectful campers (not the campsites issue, but should weed those folks out that can't be respectful and quiet)Probably won't return to this one.
