Crystal Lake Campground and RV Park Introduce
Are you searching for the perfect camping getaway in the "camping near me" category? Look no further than Crystal Lake Campground and RV Park, nestled at N550 Gannon Rd in the charming town of Lodi, Wisconsin (53555, USA). Situated in a picturesque location with access to Crystal Lake, this campground has historically offered a blend of natural beauty and convenient amenities for both tent campers and RV enthusiasts. You can reach them at (608) 592-5607 or their mobile number, +1 608-592-5607.
Historically, Crystal Lake Campground and RV Park has been known for its access to the serene Crystal Lake. This provided opportunities for various water-based activities such as swimming and potentially boating and fishing, making it an attractive destination for families and individuals seeking lakeside recreation. The natural environment surrounding the campground likely featured scenic views and a tranquil atmosphere, allowing visitors to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and immerse themselves in nature.
In the past, campgrounds like Crystal Lake often provided essential services to ensure a comfortable stay for their guests. These typically included designated campsites for tents and RVs, with varying levels of hookups such as electricity, water, and sewer connections for RVs. Restroom and shower facilities were generally available for all campers. Additionally, amenities such as picnic tables and fire rings at individual campsites often enhanced the camping experience, allowing for outdoor cooking and gathering around a campfire.
Beyond the basic amenities, campgrounds sometimes offered additional features to enhance the recreational aspect of a camping trip. These could include recreational areas for games, playgrounds for children, and potentially even a small store for basic necessities. The presence of Crystal Lake itself was a significant feature, offering opportunities for swimming, and possibly other water sports depending on the lake regulations and campground facilities.
However, it is crucial for prospective visitors to be aware of some recent feedback from individuals who have experienced the campground under its new ownership and management. Several reviews paint a concerning picture regarding customer service and management practices. One review describes the new owners and staff as "condescending and rude," detailing an incident involving a security guard and the banning of a long-term group. This account also mentions issues with the golf cart deposit and alleged attempts by staff to fabricate reasons for withholding it.
Another detailed review expresses significant concerns about the management and owners, labeling the owner as "narcissistic and extremely fake." This review alleges "bait and switch" tactics after contracts are signed, with renters reportedly bearing the cost of significant lot improvements on what are described as basic gravel pads. Furthermore, concerns are raised about increasing yearly lot rents, a 10% fee levied on the sale of units on rented lots, and the lack of prorated refunds for those selling mid-season. The reviewer also suggests that negative feedback could lead to non-renewal of leases with little notice, potentially to make way for the owner's own unit sales. The review concludes with a critical assessment of the owner's motivations, suggesting a prioritization of personal lifestyle over the well-being of the residents, leading to an overcrowded campground.
Given this recent feedback, potential visitors searching within the "camping near me" category should exercise caution and consider these experiences when making their decision about Crystal Lake Campground and RV Park. While the location and access to the lake may still hold appeal, the reported issues with management and customer service are significant factors to weigh. It would be prudent for anyone considering a stay to thoroughly investigate the current conditions, understand all contract terms, and potentially seek more recent reviews or firsthand accounts to gain a balanced perspective.
It is important to note that online reviews can be subjective and represent individual experiences. However, the consistency and severity of the issues raised in the provided feedback warrant careful consideration. Prospective campers might want to inquire directly with the campground about their policies, management practices, and any recent changes in operation to make an informed decision. Exploring other campgrounds in the "camping near me" category might also be advisable to ensure a positive and hassle-free camping experience.
In conclusion, while Crystal Lake Campground and RV Park in Lodi, WI, historically offered a lakeside camping experience with various amenities, recent customer reviews highlight significant concerns regarding the new ownership and management. Potential visitors should carefully consider this feedback and conduct thorough due diligence before booking a stay. The "camping near me" search category offers numerous alternatives, and exploring other options might be beneficial for those seeking a more reliable and positive camping experience.

Crystal Lake Campground and RV Park Reviews
New owners and staff are condescending and rude. They use a twenty something year old security guard that bum rushed one of the members in our group when they called last call at the bar which was less than five minutes after pouring the drink. We were all standing up to leave when security pinned one of our members in his chair and then pulled out mace on him. I tried to have a conversation w the female owner & downright rude and refused to listen. Then banned our group that had been going for last 20 plus years. Great place when we dealt with other owners. These people are ignorant. Old owners used an adult for security and had never been an issue. This young guy was so angry because young kids on bicycles were calling him names and teenagers were getting undressed on the trampoline. So sad they ruined what was a wonderful tradition but we'll find a new better place that actually treats their customers with dignity and respect. Also, They love to try to keep your 100 deposit in golf cart too. When I asked why and disputed, staff made up on the spot that we drove it too much and only supposed to be used from point A to point B. When I asked to see this in their contract they gave me my deposit back.
Jan 21, 2025 · Joyce SheanBuyer beware... Campground is nice, access to the lake is nice, most residents are also great. Now that said the Management and Owners of the campground are a different story. Be very carful and read your contract to ensure you know what you are signing up for. Steve (owner) is narcissistic and extremely fake, will put on a show and tell you everything they do is for you. Once you sign that agreement, be ready for the bait and switch after they get you locked into a site. The lot renter is on the hook for all improvements, many people have spent $5000+ to fix up the lots because what you get is a gravel pad and that's not acceptable to them. The yearly lot rent goes up every year, over 30% in the last two years. Then they sneak in a new rule into the contracts, if you sell your unit while its on a rented lot, they take 10% off the top and you have no choice. Many of these units are NOT easily movable, so they take advantage of you being stuck and line their pockets. They also snuck in a rule that if you sell your unit mid season, the new buyer has to pay prorated lot rent for the year but the real kicker is that the $5000+ you paid at the beginning of the year is theirs to keep, you do not get a prorated portion back, true double dipping to line the pockets more. If they don't want you there or give them any sort of negative feedback, they simply choose to not renew your lease with very little notice at the end of the season because they want the lot for one of their units they sell and leave you scrambling to figure it out. They also plan to add 75-100 new lots to the campground which is already overcrowded.I can understand why he does this, the owner needs to keep his lifestyle of flying his plane into the campground, driving his multiple $100k+ cars to flaunt them to the residents and much more on top of it. You are just a number to him, he does not care about the people as long as there is more money in his pocket. Think twice about putting a unit here...
Nov 01, 2023 · Jason JohnsonWe just had our wedding here and everything went perfect. We were able to come in early to decorate and take down decorations the next day. It was beautiful, and everybody had a blast.. Once we were all set up, (about 95 people) we realized we had more room than we needed. The room layout made everything go very smooth and the kids (and adults) had a blast using the jumping pillow and swimming in the lake. We had a wonderful experience with all the staff there and especially Amanda. She made the whole experience so much better.. We will definitely be back for camping!!
Jul 14, 2018 · T LorenNice lake/beach. Fun to rent the golf carts. Decent bathroom facilities. The tent camping areas are awful. Two spots: 1 by main entrance and a shed- major construction going on. We asked to go to the hilltop site and was a better atmosphere with trees and such but BEES everywhere! Hundreds of bees swarmed any little thing with food or drink. We had to keep a constant fire for heavy smoke - nothing in store to help either. The people weren’t very friendly or kind either. We had a nice time at the lake and that was about it. Also, bar/restaurant are closed certain days of the week and this wasn’t disclosed to us when booking which was a huge letdown.
Sep 18, 2022 · Amy SWe had a large group using the family cabin and 3 campsites. The campsites were unimpressive and in a hangar area. The nice sites are all permanents and they are packed in. The family cabin smelled musty, front door was stuck shut, bathrooms were in terrible condition, the kitchen and bath drains wouldn’t drain, the plunger provided was filthy dirty, the mattresses were uncomfortable, for a family cabin that sleeps 17 they provided a single serve coffee maker. When we requested a full size they brought one with a broken handle. No dishes towels linens pot and pans provided you have to bring all your own. 2 small garbage bags for a large group for a weekend so we had to go ask for more. Cobwebs and spiders all over outside of house. 2 people bit by spiders. The pool was closed due to to some digging broke a water line. Food at restaurant was mediocre at best. Will not be back. Should have asked for a price adjustment
