Quartzite Campground Introduce
For local users in the Baraboo, Wisconsin area searching for "camping near me," Quartzite Campground, located at Nature Center, Baraboo, WI 53913, USA, offers an opportunity to camp within the popular Devil's Lake State Park. Based on the available customer reviews, this campground presents a mix of positive aspects, such as well-maintained facilities and proximity to the natural beauty of Devil's Lake, alongside some potential challenges that local users should be aware of when planning their visit.
One reviewer who stayed at site #45 highlighted a significant issue with the terrain, noting that they "struggled to get our trailer leveled properly" and had "never experienced such a significant grade and slope at a campsite." This suggests that some sites within Quartzite Campground may have considerable unevenness, which could be a concern for campers with trailers or RVs requiring level positioning. Additionally, this reviewer mentioned that the electric hookup was on the "wrong side," necessitating pulling forward and driving over "literal boulders placed at the end of the site," which could pose a challenge for some vehicles.
Another crucial piece of information for local users considering "camping near me" at Quartzite Campground is the cost of parking within Devil's Lake State Park. The review explicitly states that parking is "$16 daily" or an "annual pass for $40." This additional fee should be factored into the overall cost of the camping experience, especially for those planning to spend multiple days or who do not already possess a Wisconsin State Park annual pass.
Despite these initial hurdles, the first reviewer did note positively that "the campground is well maintained" and that they "had no other issues" after navigating the site setup. They also found "Devil's Lake was beautiful" and indicated a willingness to return, albeit with the caveat to "definitely research your campsite before booking" due to potential grading and leveling issues at other sites.
In contrast, a second reviewer who stayed at Campsite 62E had a more positive experience overall. This site had electricity and was conveniently located "very close to the showers and bathrooms." The site was "partially shaded" and had only a "slight pitch where the camper is parked," which they found to be an "easy in and out." They also appreciated the proximity to the North shore of the lake and would choose that site again. This reviewer found the showers to work well and the bathrooms to be clean, describing their experience as "great all the way around." However, they did caution that "there is very little cell reception in the park," which is something local users might want to consider depending on their connectivity needs.
Based on these reviews, the environment of Quartzite Campground is clearly within the scenic Devil's Lake State Park, offering access to the lake, trails, and natural beauty of the area. The services include at least electric hookups at some sites (like 62E), showers, and bathrooms. Features mentioned are the shade at some campsites and the proximity of some sites to amenities and the lake. However, the terrain of individual campsites regarding leveling varies, and parking within the park incurs a separate fee.
For local users searching for "camping near me" at Devil's Lake, Quartzite Campground offers a location within a popular and picturesque state park. The availability of electric hookups and the cleanliness of the facilities are positives. However, potential campers should be aware of the possibility of uneven campsites that may be difficult to level, as well as the daily parking fee if they do not have an annual pass. The limited cell reception in the park is also a factor to consider.
To make the best choice for "camping near me" at Quartzite Campground, local users are advised to heed the recommendation to research specific campsites before booking, if possible. This might involve looking at campsite maps, reading more detailed reviews if available on other platforms, or even contacting the park directly to inquire about the characteristics of individual sites, particularly regarding their levelness and the orientation of hookups.
Promotional information is not provided in the reviews. Local users would need to check the Devil's Lake State Park or Wisconsin DNR websites for any current promotions, special events, or information regarding camping fees and reservations at Quartzite Campground.
In conclusion, Quartzite Campground at Devil's Lake State Park offers local users a chance to camp in a beautiful natural setting with access to the lake and park amenities. While some campsites may present challenges with leveling and hookup placement, others are well-situated and comfortable. The additional cost of daily parking is a significant factor to consider. Local users are encouraged to research specific campsites before booking to ensure a more enjoyable experience. The well-maintained nature of the campground and the overall appeal of Devil's Lake make it a worthwhile option for "camping near me," provided these potential issues are taken into account.

Quartzite Campground Reviews
We stayed at site #45 and struggled to get our trailer leveled properly. I have never experienced such a significant grade and slope at a campsite. The electric hookup was also on the wrong side, so instead of backing in as I do at every other campsite in existence, I had to pull forward and drive over literal boulders placed at the end of the site. Also be aware that parking is expensive. $16 daily or an annual pass for $40.However, after getting through this initial hurdle, I'm pleased to say that the campground is well maintained and we had no other issues. Devil's Lake was beautiful and we would return, but definitely research your campsite before booking, many of them looked to have similar issues with grading and leveling.
Apr 20, 2025 · Joe KWe stayed 2 nites at Campsite 62E. It had electricity and was very close to the showers and bathrooms. The site was partially shaded and had a slight pitch where the camper is parked. Easy in and out. The North shore of the lake is nice and close. We would get that site again. The showers worked great amd the bathrooms were clean. Great experience all the way around. Just be aware that there is very little cell reception in the park.
Jul 19, 2024 · Rich WardEasy check in, clearly marked sites. Lots of space per campsite. Sites all have a picnic table, fire pit with bbq rack, and this site has electric. Bathrooms were a short walk and well maintained. Showers are small with a push button, it runs for a few minutes but the one I used had good water pressure and was hot enough. This is a pretty wide open area, not many trees for shade or privacy.
Jun 26, 2023 · Lisa MemingerThere is so much space to camp and people are very friendly. It is perfect for hiking devils lake!!
Mar 11, 2025 · 3 blockheadsI did not give this camp site a 5 because we have the worst campsite in Quartzite, 25E. It is a mess, has a big rain caused ravine going across the campsite and is so un level we worked almost 45 Minutes trying to level our camper. When looking at the camper it looks like it is ready to fall over. The bathrooms are very clean and campsites are well spaced apart. They should close site 25E down though.
