Sprague Lake Resort Introduce
Looking for exceptional "camping near me"? Consider Sprague Lake Resort, a hidden gem located at 1999 Sprague Lake Resort Rd, Sprague, WA. If you're a local user seeking a peaceful and picturesque camping experience, Sprague Lake Resort offers a delightful escape with its serene environment, thoughtful services, and unique features. While the town of Sprague itself might be understated, the resort promises a surprising and satisfying retreat right by the lake.
Environment: Serene and Picturesque Lakeside Setting
Sprague Lake Resort is described by visitors as one of the most beautiful camp spots, offering a serene and breathtakingly picturesque environment. Situated by Sprague Lake, the resort provides a tranquil atmosphere perfect for relaxation. Unlike more commercial campgrounds, this privately-owned resort emphasizes simplicity and natural beauty. You can expect meticulously clean and well-kept grounds, with plenty of shade and grassy areas, creating a comfortable and inviting ambiance for all campers.
One of the appealing aspects highlighted by reviewers is the ease of access to and from I-90, making it a convenient stop for both locals and those passing through. Despite its proximity to the interstate, the resort maintains a peaceful and secluded feel once you arrive. The lake itself is a central feature, offering opportunities for fishing and simply enjoying the calm waterside.
The presence of turtles at the campsites, as mentioned by one guest, adds a unique and delightful touch, suggesting a healthy local ecosystem and the potential for charming wildlife encounters. This natural element contributes to the overall appeal of the resort for those who appreciate a connection with nature during their camping trips.
Services and Amenities: Simplicity and Full Hookups
Sprague Lake Resort prides itself on its clean, organized, and well-maintained facilities. While it may not offer the fancy amenities of some larger resorts, such as pools, it focuses on providing essential services with care and attention to detail. Notably, the resort offers full hookups for RVs, which is a significant convenience for those traveling with recreational vehicles. This includes connections for electricity, water, and sewer, ensuring a comfortable and hassle-free stay.
For those who prefer tent camping, the resort also features beautiful tent spots, presumably offering level ground and pleasant surroundings. The fact that the same owner has been managing the resort for 22 years and has been on-site for 52 years speaks to a long-term commitment to the property and its guests, often resulting in a personal touch and a well-cared-for environment.
One reviewer specifically mentioned the owner's helpfulness, recounting an instance of being allowed to borrow a fishing pole. This personal touch and willingness to assist guests can greatly enhance the camping experience, making it feel more welcoming and less transactional.
Features and Activities: Fishing and Relaxation
The primary activities at Sprague Lake Resort seem to revolve around enjoying the natural setting and the lake. Fishing is explicitly mentioned as a popular activity, likely drawing those who enjoy the peacefulness of angling. The serene atmosphere of the resort is conducive to relaxation, whether you're unwinding at your campsite, reading a book, or simply taking in the picturesque views of the lake.
While specific recreational facilities like hiking trails or organized activities aren't detailed, the beauty of the lake and the surrounding grounds likely provide ample opportunity for leisurely walks and enjoying the outdoors. The "hidden gem" description suggests that the resort's charm lies in its tranquility and natural appeal rather than elaborate amenities.
The easy on and off access to I-90 makes it a convenient base for exploring the surrounding area, should you wish to venture out. However, many guests seem to find the resort itself a compelling enough destination to simply relax and enjoy its peaceful ambiance.
A Note on Location and Initial Impressions
One reviewer mentioned that the town of Sprague might not be particularly noteworthy and that the drive into the resort was "a bit sketchy" initially. However, this was immediately followed by the positive surprise upon reaching the resort itself, which was found to be clean, organized, and well maintained. This suggests that while the immediate surroundings might not be the main attraction, the resort itself offers a significant and positive contrast.

Sprague Lake Resort Reviews
After years of driving past this lake on I-90 we decided to take detour and stay the night. The town of Sprague is not much to write home about, and the drive into the resort was also a bit sketchy. However, that final turn into the resort was surprising. It was clean, organized and well maintained. It's been owned by the same woman for 22 years, and she's been on site for 52 years! We did a quick walk around, picked a campsite and got setup. We quickly fell in love with the simplicity of everything. She even let me borrow a fishing pole. In the evening our campsite was invaded by turtles, which was a delight, proving this place is full of surprises. It may not be the most posh RV spot on the planet, but the Sprague Lake Resort did not disappoint!
Jul 08, 2024 · Chris BornhoftOne of the most beautiful camp spots we have stayed in. Easy on and off I-90. Serene, well kept grounds and meticulously clean. It is privately owned so not fancy with pools and such. People were fishing and relaxing. This hidden gem is breathtakingly picturesque. It has plenty of shade and grass. Full hook ups as well as beautiful tent spots. We have a new favorite!
Aug 17, 2024 · Loriiz BispingBeautiful place. Host is nice. However, prices are a little high. Base price for two people and additional price for more people. Wifi is not free. Can by bundles of wood which are a bit pricey. Bathrooms are okay but showers were locked. There are electric and sewer hookups.
Jun 11, 2024 · Galen O'ConnorDecent place, but bathrooms and shower aren’t great. Everything is pretty clean but the toilets are low and small, tight stalls and open air. The shower is so small my truck camper’s is bigger. Nightly rates are fair but they nickel and dime you for everything and charge 5% for using a card, $5 deposit for a shower etc. They also gouge you for rv dump 10 per night, so if staying more than 1 night it’s cheaper to dump at the gas station in Ritzville. The train is noisy and may keep you awake at night. On the plus side it’s green and shaded. Saw some nice fish landed at the dock though our luck wasn’t great.
Sep 18, 2024 · Jordan OlinBeautiful place. Lots of trains. If you are a light sleeper, this isn't the place for you. The owner doesn't like outdoor rugs on the ground, which normally wouldn't be a big deal, but there was goose and duck poo everywhere. Also, she doesn't allow radio on outside your trailer. If you are a fussy camper, this isn't the place for you.
