Camp Comia Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" in the Cheney, Washington area and open to exploring unconventional options? Camp Comia, located at 14906 S Antonian Rd, Cheney, WA 99004, USA, presents a unique scenario. According to customer reviews, it is not a typical campground but rather a non-profit organization focused on helping children that occasionally offers camping spots. This dual nature suggests a potentially different camping experience compared to traditional campgrounds.
One reviewer describes Camp Comia as "not your typical campground," highlighting its primary function as a non-profit serving kids. However, this reviewer also notes the availability of camping spots. Interestingly, they mention that the location "doesn't look like a campground," which could imply a more natural or less structured camping environment, perhaps integrated within the non-profit's facilities or grounds. This could appeal to those seeking a more rustic or less commercialized "camping near me" experience.
The positive aspects of this reviewer's experience include the "very nice and hospitable people" associated with Camp Comia. This suggests a welcoming and community-oriented atmosphere. Additionally, the availability of "shower accommodations" is explicitly mentioned, which is a significant convenience for campers. The reviewer concludes by expressing gratitude for feeling "very welcomed," indicating a positive interaction and a sense of hospitality that might be a unique feature of camping at a non-profit organization focused on helping others.
However, a contrasting review presents a different perspective. This reviewer states, "There is no campground other there. Maybe someday they accepted that someone pitch the tent, but don't count on it." This feedback suggests that the availability of camping at Camp Comia might be inconsistent, unreliable, or perhaps even no longer offered. It raises concerns about whether Camp Comia should be considered a viable option for those actively searching for "camping near me" without prior confirmation.
Given these conflicting accounts, it is challenging to definitively describe the environment, services, and features of Camp Comia as a campground. However, we can speculate based on the limited information and the nature of a non-profit organization that occasionally offers camping.
**Environment:** The fact that it "doesn't look like a campground" could imply a more natural setting, possibly with open fields, wooded areas, or access to natural features relevant to a children's camp, such as play areas or educational spaces. The specific type of environment would likely depend on the non-profit's focus and the layout of their property in Cheney, Washington. Cheney is located in a region with diverse landscapes, including forests, lakes, and rolling hills, so the environment could potentially offer natural beauty.
**Services:** The only specific service mentioned is "shower accommodations," which is a significant amenity for campers. Other typical campground services, such as designated campsites, fire pits, picnic tables, restroom facilities (beyond showers), water access, and trash disposal, are not mentioned in the reviews. Given that it's not a traditional campground, these services might be limited, basic, or perhaps only available when camping is specifically offered. The hospitality of the people associated with the non-profit seems to be a notable service, potentially creating a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.
**Features:** The unique feature of Camp Comia is its primary identity as a non-profit organization serving children. This could mean that campers might be sharing the space with or be in proximity to facilities and activities related to the non-profit's programs. This could offer a different kind of camping experience, perhaps with opportunities to learn about or even interact with the organization's mission (if appropriate and offered). However, the lack of typical campground features, as suggested by one reviewer, means that campers should likely expect a more basic and less amenity-driven experience compared to established campgrounds.
Promotional information is entirely absent from the provided reviews. As Camp Comia is primarily a non-profit, it is unlikely to have traditional camping promotions. If they do offer camping, it might be on a donation basis or with specific terms related to supporting their mission. To obtain any information about the availability of camping, potential costs, or any guidelines for campers, it is essential to contact Camp Comia directly using the provided phone numbers: (509) 235-2645 or +1 509-235-2645.
Given the conflicting reviews, it is crucial for anyone considering "camping near me" at Camp Comia to approach it with caution and a need for direct inquiry. The positive review suggests a welcoming experience with at least basic shower facilities, but the negative review casts doubt on the reliability and even the existence of camping options. Therefore, prospective campers should:
- **Call the provided phone numbers:** (509) 235-2645 or +1 509-235-2645 to inquire directly about the availability of camping, the types of camping spots offered (tent, RV, etc.), any associated costs or donations, and the amenities provided.
- **Ask about the nature of the "camping spots":** Understand what to expect in terms of designated areas, facilities, and the overall environment.
- **Inquire about any guidelines or rules for campers:** As it is primarily a non-profit serving children, there might be specific guidelines to ensure the safety and well-being of the children and the smooth operation of their programs.
- **Be prepared for a non-traditional camping experience:** If camping is indeed offered, it might differ significantly from what is found at typical campgrounds.
In conclusion, Camp Comia near Cheney, Washington, presents a unique and somewhat uncertain option for those seeking "camping near me." While one reviewer describes a welcoming experience with camping spots and shower facilities at this non-profit organization, another suggests that camping might not be a reliable offering. Therefore, direct communication with Camp Comia is essential to ascertain the current availability, nature, and any conditions associated with camping at their location. Be prepared for a potentially non-traditional camping experience focused on hospitality within the context of a non-profit mission.

Not your typical campground however they do have camping spots available and it doesn't look like a camp ground since it's apparently also a non profit that helps kids. Very nice and hospitable people that also had shower accommodations. They made me feel very welcomed. Thank you!
