Sun Cove Resort Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Medical Lake, Washington area, Sun Cove Resort, also known historically as Rainbow Cove, offers a lakeside setting with a focus on fishing. Based on the available customer reviews, the resort presents a somewhat mixed picture, with long-time patrons noting changes over the years, while others appreciate its fundamental appeal.
Environment and Location:
Sun Cove Resort is located on the shores of Clear Lake, near Medical Lake, Washington. The presence of the lake is a significant environmental feature, offering opportunities for fishing and enjoying a waterfront setting. One long-time visitor, who has been fishing at Sun Cove for over 40 years, reminisced about its past, indicating that the location has been a known spot for anglers for a considerable time. Another reviewer simply described it as a "Great place. Nice lake," reinforcing the positive aspect of its lakeside environment.
The address, 12514 S Clear Lake Rd, Medical Lake, WA 99022, USA, places it in a presumably accessible area for locals seeking a nearby lake experience. The mention of fishing suggests that the lake is a key attraction, likely supporting a variety of fish species that appeal to anglers.
Services and Facilities:
One of the reviews raises concerns about the current condition of some of the facilities. Specifically, the long dock leading to a fishing area is described as being in disrepair, with a near disconnection from the main dock and a cracking incident that caused alarm. This suggests that at least some of the infrastructure at Sun Cove Resort may be in need of maintenance or upgrades. The reviewer also mentioned a $20 fee for two people to be there, implying a charge for access or use of the facilities, although it's not specified if this was for fishing, camping, or general access.
In contrast, another reviewer simply stated "Nice people," suggesting that the staff or management contribute positively to the overall experience, despite any potential shortcomings in the physical infrastructure. Further details about other services or facilities, such as campsites, boat rentals, or other amenities, are not provided in these brief reviews.
Features and Activities:
The primary feature highlighted in the reviews is the fishing, particularly off the dock. The long-time visitor explicitly mentioned, "There's great fishing off of the dock!" This indicates that Sun Cove Resort is a destination known for its fishing opportunities on Clear Lake. The lake itself is another key feature, likely offering scenic views and a generally pleasant environment for lakeside activities, although these are not detailed in the provided text.
The history mentioned by the long-time visitor, referencing the previous name "Rainbow Cove" and the former owners Mac and Sunny, adds a layer of nostalgia but also underscores a perceived change in the resort's condition over time.
Promotional Considerations and Important Notes:
For local users looking for "camping near me" with lake access and fishing, Sun Cove Resort on Clear Lake is a place to consider. The positive comment about "great fishing off of the dock" and the "nice lake" are significant draws for anglers and those who appreciate a lakeside environment. Additionally, the mention of "nice people" suggests a welcoming atmosphere from the staff.
However, potential visitors should be aware of the concerns raised about the condition of at least one key piece of infrastructure, the long fishing dock. The report of it being "run down and raggedy" and nearly disconnecting is a serious consideration for safety and the overall experience of using that facility. It would be prudent to inquire about the current state of the docks and other facilities when contacting the resort.
The fee of $20 for two people also suggests that there are costs associated with accessing the resort, whether for fishing or other activities. It would be beneficial to understand the full pricing structure for different uses of the resort, such as day visits versus overnight stays (if camping is available).
Despite the noted decline in the physical condition by a long-term patron, the fundamental appeal of fishing on Clear Lake and the positive interaction with the people associated with the resort remain. If you are primarily interested in fishing and enjoying the lake, and you are willing to potentially overlook some dated infrastructure, Sun Cove Resort could still offer a worthwhile experience. It might be advisable to call ahead to get the most current information on the condition of facilities and any access fees.
To inquire further, you can contact Sun Cove Resort at (509) 216-6776 or +1 509-216-6776. The address is 12514 S Clear Lake Rd, Medical Lake, WA 99022, USA. For those in the Medical Lake area looking for "camping near me" with a focus on lake and fishing opportunities, Sun Cove Resort is a known local spot, though it may be undergoing changes or in need of some refurbishment. Your experience may vary based on your priorities and expectations regarding the facilities.

Sun Cove Resort Reviews
My husband and I have been fishing at Sun Cove, aka (Rainbow Cove years ago) for at least 40 years now. We went out there a few weeks ago and can't believe how run down and raggedy the place is now. The long dock leading to the where we fish damn near disconnected from the rest of the dock where anglers fish. All of a sudden, there was a crack! I thought we were going to be stranded out there. $20 dollars for the two of us there. Not sure if there are new owners or what - the guy's name I remember was Mac and his wife was Sunny and they had a son and a dog. Wish someone could restore this place to the way it used to be. There's great fishing off of the dock!

Apr 14, 2025 · BrentWent to rent a boat for half a day. The price was 20 for 3 hours. But they also add the day use fee of 10 even renting a boat. There was no anchor in the boat at all. Total for the rental was over 30. Definitely not worth it for 3 hours. And like other people have said the docks could use some major repairs. The "store" was run down looking and dirty. I've been to numerous "resorts" and this has definitely been the worse one I've ever been to. Save your money and try somewhere else
Jun 13, 2023 · RobbingDaBank 509FishingLoud all night and then the loud people who live there with their barking dogs, loud music and drunk yelling all night long have the audacity to complain when your dog barks a little. Owner very friendly while you’re paying, but rude as hell when it’s time to check out. Told us take our time getting out of there, then right at 11am told us our time was up. No one else there was just camping, they all live there. Junk everywhere. Beautiful campsite, but small. Overall bad experience. Stayed two nights and paid $170 for 4 people.
Jun 11, 2023 · Jessica ManteseI imagine it was once a small and beautiful fishing resort that's now run down. Beautiful location that is quiet and peaceful with friendly owner and residents. However, there are a couple empty non-functional trailers, a couple permanent residents in trailers, a couple empty seasonal trailers, and a couple empty trailer spots for overnight RVers. There is also a small rental house with a permanent resident. Bathrooms are run down. Dock is walkable but in need of major TLC. There's also some old canoes and pedal boats for rent and some broken resort type equipment laying around. Dock is used by friendly locals for fishing. I would not bring small children here due to equipment and dock safety concerns but we did enjoy a wonderful sunset and full hook up over night stay.
