Birch Lake RV Park Introduce
For local residents and travelers exploring the Babbitt and Ely regions of Minnesota and searching for "camping near me," Birch Lake RV Park, located at 2015 Hwy 623, Babbitt, MN 55706, USA, presents a camping option primarily geared towards RVs and seasonal campers. You can contact them at (218) 827-2342 or +1 218-827-2342 for inquiries. Based on customer reviews, the park offers certain appealing features, although potential visitors should be aware of some reported management issues and the predominantly seasonal nature of the community.
The environment surrounding Birch Lake RV Park offers a blend of natural and recreational opportunities typical of northeastern Minnesota. One positive review mentions a "nice bike-walking trail" and a "city public beach within walking distance," suggesting that the location provides access to outdoor activities and the scenic beauty of the area. Babbitt is described as a "small town but has a nice golf course," indicating that campers interested in golf will find this amenity nearby. Furthermore, the proximity to Ely, about 15 miles away, opens up a wider range of attractions and services, as Ely is known for its gateway to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and its rich history and outdoor recreation opportunities. While Birch Lake itself is not directly mentioned in the reviews regarding its immediate environment or accessibility from the RV park, the name suggests the presence of a lake in the vicinity, which could contribute to the area's natural appeal. However, the reviews do not provide specific details about the park's internal environment, such as the amount of shade or the layout of the campsites, other than noting "some shade trees" in one review.
The services at Birch Lake RV Park appear to be somewhat basic, catering primarily to RVs and long-term stays. One review mentions "water and electric hookups," which are essential for RV campers. The absence of organized activities is explicitly noted ("no organized activities"), indicating that campers are responsible for their own entertainment. The strong presence of "almost all seasonal campers" suggests that the park functions more as a long-term community rather than a transient campground with a high turnover of short-term visitors. This could influence the overall atmosphere and the availability of short-term sites. The negative review details an experience involving a mandatory login upon arrival, which was perceived as time-consuming, and a subsequent unpleasant interaction with the management regarding parking and a disputed late checkout fee. This account raises concerns about the park's management style and customer service for short-term visitors. While the first review mentions a "nice bike-walking trail" and proximity to a public beach, these appear to be external amenities rather than services provided within the RV park itself. Potential short-term campers should inquire specifically about the availability of amenities such as restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, and Wi-Fi, as these are not mentioned in the provided reviews.
The features of Birch Lake RV Park are somewhat mixed based on the customer feedback. On the positive side, the presence of water and electric hookups is a significant feature for RV owners. The proximity to a "nice bike-walking trail" and a "city public beach within walking distance" adds recreational value to the location. The nearby golf course in Babbitt and the easy access to the attractions and services of Ely (15 miles away) further enhance the area's appeal. The mention of "some shade trees" in one review suggests that at least some campsites offer shade, which is a desirable feature for many campers. However, the negative review highlights a significant potential drawback: the perceived "over the top bad news" management, citing issues with check-in procedures, parking enforcement, and unexpected fees. The predominantly seasonal nature of the park might also be considered a feature, as it could lead to a strong sense of community among long-term residents but potentially a less welcoming or accommodating environment for short-term visitors. The lack of organized activities means that campers looking for structured entertainment will need to seek it outside the RV park.
No specific promotional information is available for Birch Lake RV Park in the provided reviews. Given that it appears to cater largely to seasonal campers, any promotional offers might be targeted towards long-term stays or annual rates. Short-term visitors should inquire about daily or weekly rates when contacting the park. It would also be prudent to ask about any policies regarding check-in and check-out times, parking regulations, and any potential fees beyond the basic campsite rental to avoid unexpected charges, as highlighted in the negative review. Local users might also want to inquire if there are different rates for seasonal versus short-term stays and what amenities are included in each type of rental. Checking online travel review sites or contacting the park directly might yield more information on current pricing and any special offers.
For local residents and travelers seeking "camping near me" in the Babbitt and Ely, MN, area, Birch Lake RV Park offers a location with access to a bike-walking trail, a nearby public beach, and proximity to a golf course and the town of Ely. The availability of water and electric hookups is a plus for RV campers. However, potential visitors should be aware that the park is primarily geared towards seasonal campers and that one review raises significant concerns about the management's treatment of short-term guests, including issues with check-in, parking, and unexpected fees. The lack of organized activities means that campers need to provide their own entertainment. Before booking a stay at Birch Lake RV Park, it is strongly recommended to contact them directly at (218) 827-2342 or +1 218-827-2342 to inquire about current rates, amenities available to short-term visitors, and the park's policies regarding check-in, check-out, and other regulations to ensure a clear understanding and potentially avoid the negative experiences reported in one of the reviews.
In conclusion, Birch Lake RV Park in Babbitt, MN, offers a location with some natural and recreational advantages, particularly its proximity to a bike trail, a public beach, and the amenities of Babbitt and nearby Ely. While it provides water and electric hookups and has some shade, its primary focus on seasonal campers and a concerning negative review regarding management practices are important factors for local users to consider when looking for "camping near me." Direct communication with the RV park is essential to obtain accurate information and make an informed decision about whether it meets their camping needs and expectations.

Birch Lake RV Park Reviews
Nice campground, no organized activities. Almost all seasonal campers. Your on your own for entertainment. Nice bike-walking trail, city public beach within walking distance. Babbitt small town but has a nice golf course. Ely about 15 miles away.
Aug 25, 2018 · Susan McMahanNice looking park! BUT the women running it was over the top bad news. We pulled in and had to create a login to stay, not the end of the world. But time consuming.Next morning we returned from breakfast and a meeting to be greeted by her as I got out of car at 10:40 AM. She was visibly upset. She was upset we had parked parallel in our 4 runner never touching the grass as she had instructed the day before. I stayed we were mot on the grass sand never was. She proceeded to tell me i needed to park straight in. I said ok.5 min. Go by we are breaking down, she demands 20.00 for being late getting out it's not 11:00am yet!.I instructed my wife not to pay it as we were ready to go. What a bloody terrible place to stay. Never ever again. We travel extensively and have never been treated so poorly!!!!!
