Bear Head Lake Campground Reviews
Last-minute gem with stunning fall colors! Snagged a campsite at the last minute for the first weekend of October and was pleasantly surprised. The restroom was clean and conveniently located, and the water source was nearby. We enjoyed a cozy bonfire under a sky full of stars. Waking up to the vibrant fall foliage and the serene lake view was a treat. The drive back was equally enjoyable, as we missed the stunning night-time fall colors. Highly recommend Bear Head Lake Campground for a peaceful and scenic getaway!
Oct 22, 2024 · asmita chapagainOur eldest son lives in Minneapolis and as there was too much ice at the Voyager National Park we decided to camp here. Great spot and so beautiful!
May 03, 2025 · doug barenseOn our first visit to this park, we stayed in the Cedar Camper Cabin with another couple. There was a lot of space between cabins, and the shower / restroom facilities were awesome. It was a great experience that made me want to visit more state and national parks. Beautiful park, and close to Ely with all of its attractions. We visited the American Bear Center, the International Wolf Center, and the Dorothy Molter Museum.
Aug 23, 2024 · Gwen GriffinSite#22 was fine: close enough to Nature Trail and a quick walk to a Restroom. Other R/S near the Fish-Cleaning Station had BOTH Women's toilets out of order so we never used that facility, even tho it was closest to our site.Brought our own canoe & gear so thoroughly enjoyed paddling Bear Head Lake. Took portage to Lake Holder but distance of that portage is NOT accurate...much longer than it says. Nevertheless, we found Lobster mushrooms in abundance which was a real treat! Remote Campsites we may consider next visit. Included bear-proof box for showing gear. Norberg Lake Trail (RT=@ 3 miles)was beautiful and well worth exploring! Helpful & friendly staff. Gorgeous picnic grounds near swimming area too...which we belatedly discovered....including a beautiful Trail Center bldg w/ wood fireplace for winter enjoyment and an outdoor firepit too! We will come back and try out the historic log cabin Camper Cabins next!
