Stannard Township RV Campground Introduce
Searching for a convenient and budget-friendly "camping near me" option, especially if you're traveling in an RV? Consider Stannard Township RV Campground, located at 14190 US-45, Bruce Crossing, MI 49912, USA. This campground offers essential amenities for RV travelers and convenient access to local services. If your search under the "camping near me" category prioritizes functionality, affordability, and ease of access for RVs, Stannard Township RV Campground is a practical choice to consider.
Understanding the Environment of Stannard Township RV Campground
Stannard Township RV Campground is situated in Bruce Crossing, a small community in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The reviews describe the campground as a "big open grass field" with "basically gravel patches next to a sliver of grass with no shade." This suggests a relatively open environment with limited natural shade. While perhaps not offering a deeply immersive natural setting, its location directly on US-45 provides easy access and visibility. One reviewer noted that the campground is "right by the road," which results in "some road noise," a factor that light sleepers might want to consider.
Despite the open and roadside nature, the campground appears to be functional for its primary purpose as an overnight stop or a base for exploring the surrounding area. One reviewer who stayed in August mentioned that there were only six RVs present on a Thursday, indicating that it might not be overly crowded, even during the summer. The presence of a "big open grass field" could offer some space for maneuvering larger RVs and potentially for basic outdoor activities on-site, although the lack of shade might make this less appealing during hot days.
The campground's proximity to local amenities is a notable environmental factor. Reviews mention its "close proximity to groceries, a gas station convenience store, and restaurants," which adds a significant layer of convenience for travelers who may need to resupply or prefer to dine out occasionally. This accessibility to services distinguishes it from more remote campgrounds that offer greater natural immersion but less convenience.
One reviewer explicitly states, "Definitely a better setting for RVs than tents," which suggests that the open, gravel-based sites might not be as comfortable or appealing for traditional tent camping.
Assessing the Services Offered at Stannard Township RV Campground
Based on the customer reviews, Stannard Township RV Campground offers a straightforward set of services catering primarily to RV travelers:
- 30 Amp Electric Hookup: A crucial service for powering RV appliances and systems.
- Water Hookup: Providing a direct water connection to RVs.
- Dump Station: An essential facility for RV owners to empty their holding tanks.
- Trash Barrels: For convenient disposal of waste.
- Level, Pull-Thru Sites: The campground features 12 level, pull-thru sites, making it easy for even larger RVs (up to 60 ft total length, as mentioned by one reviewer) to enter and exit without the need for backing up.
- Utilities Set Up in Pairs: The utilities (electric and water) are set up two together, requiring RVs to pull in opposite directions on adjacent sites.
- Showers (Extra Charge): Shower facilities are available, but they come at an additional cost, which is important for budget-conscious travelers to note.
- Bathhouse: The bathhouse has one toilet and one shower in each (presumably separate for men and women, although not explicitly stated). While described as "fine," they are also noted as "not particularly nice."
- First-Come, First-Serve Sites: Eight of the sites operate on a first-come, first-served basis, which means reservations for these specific sites might not be possible.
- Good Verizon Reception: A positive aspect for travelers who rely on Verizon for their mobile internet and communication needs.
The campground provides the fundamental hookups and facilities that RV travelers typically require for an overnight stay or a short stopover. The pull-thru sites are a significant convenience, especially for larger rigs. However, the limited number of bathhouse facilities and the extra charge for showers are points to consider.
Examining the Features of Stannard Township RV Campground
The features of Stannard Township RV Campground are primarily focused on functionality and convenience for RV travelers:
- Easy In and Out Access: The level, pull-thru sites and open layout facilitate easy navigation for RVs of various sizes.
- Convenient Location: Its placement on US-45 offers easy access for those traveling through the area and proximity to local amenities.
- Affordable Price: The overnight rate of $15 (as mentioned in one review) and $15 for electric and water hookup (in another) suggests a budget-friendly option, although the shower cost is extra.
- Essential Hookups: Providing 30 amp electric and water hookups caters directly to the needs of RV travelers.
- Dump Station On-Site: The availability of a dump station adds to the convenience for RV owners.
The campground's features prioritize practicality over extensive recreational amenities or a scenic natural setting. It serves as a functional and affordable stopover for RVers traveling through the Upper Peninsula.
Analyzing Potential Promotional Information
The most prominent piece of promotional information gleaned from the reviews is the price: $15 per night for an overnight stay with the mentioned amenities (30 amp electric, water, dump station, trash barrels) and $15 per night for electric and water hookup at the first-come, first-serve sites. This consistently low price point is a significant draw, especially for budget-conscious travelers looking for "camping near me" with essential RV services.
The fact that there were only six RVs present on a Thursday in August might suggest that availability is generally good, even during the peak summer season, potentially reducing the need for advance booking for some travelers (though this is not a guaranteed promotion). The first-come, first-serve nature of eight of the sites could also be seen as a feature for those who prefer not to plan far in advance.
Local users might want to contact Stannard Township RV Campground directly using the provided phone numbers, (906) 391-0171 or +1 906-391-0171, to inquire about any other potential discounts for longer stays, local residents, or seasonal specials that might not have been mentioned in these brief reviews.
Considering Stannard Township RV Campground for Your Local RV Needs
For local users and travelers passing through the Bruce Crossing area in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Stannard Township RV Campground offers a straightforward and affordable "camping near me" option, particularly well-suited for RVs. Its key strengths lie in its budget-friendly pricing, convenient pull-thru sites, and essential RV hookups (30 amp electric, water, and a dump station). The easy access from US-45 and proximity to local amenities like groceries, gas, and restaurants add to its practicality.
However, potential guests should also be aware of the less scenic, open environment with limited shade and potential road noise. The bathhouse facilities are basic, and showers incur an extra charge. The campground appears to be more of a functional stopover or base rather than a destination for an extended nature-focused retreat.
If you are an RV traveler prioritizing affordability and convenience while passing through or making a short stop in the Bruce Crossing area, Stannard Township RV Campground is a viable "camping near me" option to consider. Its level, pull-thru sites are particularly beneficial for larger rigs, and the availability of essential hookups and a dump station caters directly to RV needs. For tent campers or those seeking a more immersive natural experience with better amenities, other options in the region might be more suitable. Contacting the campground directly can provide the most up-to-date information on availability and any specific policies.

Great overnight campground for $15. 30 amp Elec, water, dump station and trash barrels. 12 level, pull thru sites. The utilities are set up two together. So, every other RV will pull in opposite. We are 60 ft total length. Easy in and out. Good Verizon reception. Big open grass field, showers (extra). Only 6 RVs on a Thursday in August.

Jun 24, 2023 · Kate GeisenWhat a great place to spend the night! All the sites are pull- through and easy to manage. There is a fabulous playground with swings, horseshoes (with the shoes!), and several other pieces of equipment. There’s a pavilion with lots of picnic tables and tables at sites. Huge area to walk the dog. All that for only $15 for water and 15/30-amp electric. So impressed! Today (Thursday night in July), there was only 4 of us on-site.
Jul 14, 2023 · Brenda HinschbergerAnother great find on our road trip. Just enough for an overnight stop. All the basics there, don't expect a swimming pool & games room it's not that sort of place. A place to park & rest
