For local users searching for "camping near me," Sun Lakes State Park Campground stands out as a clean, quiet, and amenity-rich destination, as highlighted by numerous positive customer reviews.
The environment at Sun Lakes State Park Campground is consistently praised for its natural beauty and well-maintained facilities. One camper, a seasoned veteran of nearly 38 years, described it as "one of the cleanest and quietest campgrounds" they had ever visited. The availability of "excellent full hookup spots with plenty of space and lots of shade" caters particularly well to RV campers seeking comfort and convenience. The campground's proximity to restrooms is also noted as a benefit, providing easy access as needed. Furthermore, the thoughtful layout includes accessibility to walking trails and the lake, with a short walk or drive available for those with mobility challenges. The presence of "lots of grassy areas" enhances the overall appeal and provides comfortable spaces for relaxation and recreation.
The centerpiece of the environment is undoubtedly the stunning lake, offering a multitude of recreational opportunities. The beach area is well-equipped with "plenty of picnic tables" and convenient spots to sit. The swimming area is safely marked off with ropes, ensuring a secure environment for swimmers of all ages. Adding to the allure is the access to "some of the fancy amenities over at the resort about a half mile up the lake," providing an extra layer of convenience and luxury for campers. While one review mentions occasional brief power outages, the natural features of the park, including the lake for cooling off and the abundance of trees for shade, help to mitigate any temporary inconveniences. Wildlife sightings are also a common occurrence, adding an element of natural wonder to the camping experience.
The services and features at Sun Lakes State Park Campground go beyond the basics, aiming to make each stay "extra special." A significant highlight is the presence of a "grocery store" within the park, offering convenience for campers needing supplies without having to leave the premises. For those looking for leisure activities, a "golf course" is available, providing an opportunity for a round of golf amidst the natural beauty. A "snack shop" offers quick bites and refreshments, perfect for enjoying by the lake or after a hike. Boat rentals are also available, allowing campers to explore the lake from a different perspective and enjoy water-based activities.
The campground boasts "several beaches with swim areas that range from toddler safe to dock jumping," catering to a wide range of ages and preferences. This ensures that families with young children and more adventurous swimmers alike can find a suitable spot to enjoy the water. The restrooms are consistently described as "well maintained and quick to get to no matter where you are in the park," a testament to the park's commitment to cleanliness and convenience for its guests.
For those who enjoy exploring on foot, "hiking" opportunities are available. However, one reviewer notes that "there is no need to hike to experience a great view," suggesting that scenic vistas are readily accessible throughout the park. The campground's location is also advantageous for exploring the wider region, being situated just "45 minutes from Grand Coulee dam and several other natural attractions," making it an excellent base for day trips and further exploration of the area.
While the vast majority of feedback is overwhelmingly positive, one reviewer did note that "sites 111-115 have a lot of mosquitos." This is a valuable piece of information for potential campers, suggesting that bringing insect repellent might be particularly important for those staying in this specific area of the campground. The same reviewer still concluded that the park is "definitely worth a several night stay," indicating that the positive aspects far outweigh this localized issue.
Promotional information for Sun Lakes State Park Campground, targeting local users searching for "camping near me," would undoubtedly emphasize the clean and quiet environment, the spacious full hookup RV sites with shade, and the easy access to the beautiful lake with its beaches and swimming areas. The exceptional amenities, including the grocery store, golf course, snack shop, and boat rentals, would be highlighted as features that set this campground apart. The family-friendly atmosphere, with safe swimming areas for toddlers and more adventurous options, would also be a key selling point. The abundance of wildlife and the proximity to Grand Coulee dam and other natural attractions offer additional incentives for a longer stay.
To further entice local campers, Sun Lakes State Park Campground could promote any special events or activities they might host throughout the season. Highlighting the positive feedback from repeat visitors, such as the family already planning their return, would also be a powerful testimonial to the quality of the camping experience offered. Emphasizing the well-maintained restrooms and the overall cleanliness of the campground would address common concerns among campers.
For local users in Coulee City and the surrounding areas looking for an exceptional "camping near me" experience, Sun Lakes State Park Campground appears to be a premier destination. Sun Lakes State Park Campground Reviews
Earlier this year I was scouting out a place for my family to go camping. I found Sun Lakes. I got my family together on the Idea to book for the 4th of July! We snagged up some excellent full hookup spots with plenty of space, lots of shade. Close proximity to restrooms if for some reason our rv restroom was occupied, close to walking trails a short walk or drive down to the lake for those with a disability that cant walk. The beach had plenty picnic tables and places around to pop a squat, the swimming area was roped off so that was nice, you even have access to some of the fancy amenities over at the resort about a half mile up the lake. During our stay there was a brief power outage ( something i found out that happens from time to time) luckily you got the lake to cool you down and plenty of trees so provide shade, there is also lots of grassy areas, i only found one dog poop bag station but that’s ok because good dog owners always have plenty on hand. Saw some wild life, and we are already discussing our plans to return again and again! Oh did i forget to mention i have camped for almost 38 yrs and this was one of the cleanest and quietest camp grounds. Everyone was friendly and enjoying themselves. Super relaxing.
Jul 06, 2024 · Stephanie GottlobThis park has some great extra amenities that make the stay extra special including a grocery store, golf course, snack shop, and boat rentals. There are several beaches with swim areas that range from toddler safe to dock jumping. The restrooms are well maintained and quick to get to no matter where you are in the park. There is so much wildlife! That said, sites 111-115 have a lot of misquotes. There is hiking available, but there is no need to hike to experience a great view! 45 minutes from Grand Coulee dam and several other natural attractions. Definitely worth a several night stay.
Jul 07, 2022 · Kia GutiérrezThis was a stop along the way, nice Campground, only 10 spots with full hookups here, but the sites are super wide and fairly easy to back into, they are gravel however, so, leveling was challenging. Nice shady spots though!I only gave 4 stars due to the lack of directional signs, there are so many turns here, they need better signage, there is also a resort by the same name right next door, so it can get confusing, especially for first timers, we had not been here before. There is a lake within walking distance which was nice to cool off in, lots of people with floaties.
Jul 28, 2022 · Robin StuartCame here because it was the only place in WA in with moderate looking spring weather and was pleasantly pleasantly surprised! There was almost no one around in mid April and the camp host was very friendly.A lot of nature viewing and the trails were very well maintained 😃
Apr 11, 2022 · Eileen KelseyGreat campground to enjoy the state park. Not the most ideal camping spots as it's basically several roads looped together with gravel bars for the tents and grass patches between each. Swimming in the lake is nice and there is trails right off the campground. There are showers available and asmall store next door at the resort.
