Sweetwater Forest Cape Cod Family Campground Introduce
Looking for a centrally located and family-friendly "camping near me" option on Cape Cod? Sweetwater Forest Cape Cod Family Campground, situated at 676 Harwich Rd, Brewster, MA 02631, USA, offers an affordable and well-laid-out camping experience in a prime location. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground provides a blend of natural beauty, convenient amenities, and access to the many attractions that Cape Cod has to offer, making it a strong contender for your next camping adventure.
The environment at Sweetwater Forest Campground is described as having a "nice layout with plenty of privacy for sites." This suggests that campers can expect a degree of seclusion and space, enhancing the feeling of being immersed in nature. The campground is located in Brewster, placing it centrally on Cape Cod, which is advantageous for exploring various parts of the peninsula. While there is a "pretty" pond on the property, it's important to note that swimming is not allowed. However, the overall cleanliness of the campground is a significant positive aspect, with one reviewer specifically mentioning that the campground is "very clean." For those traveling with pets, Sweetwater Forest is noted as being "very dog friendly," and a significant bonus is the "great dog park right across the street," making it an excellent choice for families with canine companions. The terrain within the campground is described as "hilly," and while this might add to the scenic appeal, one reviewer suggests that a mountain bike is needed to navigate the roads comfortably. Furthermore, the campground's proximity to the bike trail is a major environmental and recreational advantage, offering easy access for cycling enthusiasts to explore the wider Cape Cod region.
The services and amenities at Sweetwater Forest Campground appear to be well-regarded in certain key areas. The restrooms and showers are highlighted as being "very clean" with "great water pressure" and "plenty of hot water," which are essential for a comfortable camping experience. The campground accommodates both tent and RV campers, with sites of varying sizes, and most are reported to be "flat once you backed in," making setup easier. While specific details about hookups for RVs are not mentioned, the variety in site sizes suggests they can likely accommodate different types of camping setups. One area where a reviewer noted a potential lack was in organized activities, particularly for adults without children. While there are "plenty of activities for kids," the same reviewer pointed out the absence of planned events for adults, such as Bingo (a common campground activity), weekday activities, or even regular summer programming. There is a TV room available, but it reportedly showed movies infrequently. It's also important to note that the campground does not have a pool or splash pad, which some campers might miss, especially when seeking a break from beach outings. Despite these suggestions for improvement, the fundamental amenities of clean restrooms, hot showers, and a generally well-maintained environment seem to be in place.
The features of Sweetwater Forest Campground include its central location on Cape Cod, providing easy access to the numerous attractions, beaches, and towns the Cape is known for. The privacy afforded by the layout of the campsites is another significant feature, allowing for a more secluded and enjoyable outdoor experience. The dog-friendly policy and the adjacent dog park are strong features for pet owners. The direct access to the bike trail (likely the Cape Cod Rail Trail) is a major draw for cyclists of all levels, offering miles of scenic paths to explore. For families with children, the availability of "plenty of activities" is a key feature, though the specifics of these activities are not detailed in the review. The affordability of the campground, particularly for a two-week stay in midsummer, is also a notable feature, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious travelers. While the lack of adult-focused activities and a swimming pool were mentioned as downsides by one reviewer, the combination of location, privacy, cleanliness, and pet-friendliness makes Sweetwater Forest a compelling choice for many.

Sweetwater Forest Cape Cod Family Campground Reviews
I booked this campground from 7/20-8/3/24. The campground is centrally located in Brewster. It's a nice layout with plenty of privacy for sites. The price for 2 weeks in midsummer was great and affordable. The sites were all different sizes and most were flat once you backed in. The pond was pretty but swimming was not allowed. The restrooms and showers were very clean and the water pressure was great and there was plenty of hot water. The campground is very dog friendly. There is also a great dog park right across the street that we went to daily. The roads are hilly and you really need a mountain bike to get around. There are plenty of activities for kids. The downside was there were no activities for adults without kids. The campground is very clean and on the very close to the bike trail which is helpful. I love Bingo and have never been to a campground that didn't have bingo. There are also no planned activities during the week or really any at all during the summer. I understand most people/families leave for the day and come back at night but it would be nice to have things to do for adults and people who don't want to leave the park every day. There is a TV room but there were hardly any movies shown. For the price, location and privacy, I would definitely stay here again. My suggestions would be to have food trucks, movie nights, crafts and Bingo. I would suggest a sign up sheet with a small deposit depending on the activity to be able to get a headcount for the activity and to ensure guests will be there for the activity. If they don't show up, they lose their money. I understand they don't want to book and schedule things if no one shows up, But as an avid camper, I think people would plan for the activities they want to do and plan for days off the campground. A sign up sheet at check in with a small deposit would help get a headcount. And you can give people the deposit back when they check in for the activity whether it's movie nights with popcorn or Bingo. Also there is no pool. A pool would be nice or a splash pad, especially when being at the beach all week. A pool is a great change of pace for when you need a break from the beach. Again, I would definitely stay again. It's a nice change of pace busy Rt 28 or Rt 6.
Aug 18, 2024 · Jeanine MunozNice warm showers and our tent site was kept away from a lot, so it was calm and quiet. Nice staff and would definitely visit again.
Sep 18, 2024 · Jacob DunnohewThis place brings back only the fondest memories of fishing on the dock in my teenage years. I have nostalgia and think about a girl I met there in the summer of 2020. Unfortunately I didn't get her contact info and know I will never see her ever again. I think about her from time to time and think maybe just maybe I'll somehow see her again.
Apr 26, 2025 · Melkamu CreaghanBeautiful family owned camp ground. Very friendly staff, amazing location. Camp sites are raked and clean. I'm on tent only. There is over 50 tent sites to choose from. Some are closer to others, some are more secluded. Most of them are on a small incline. A lake that practices catch a release, 5 dollar an hour canoe or 15 for 4 hours, table tennis, pool table... Yet feels like you are in a middle of a forest away from everyone. Great bathrooms as well..
Aug 29, 2022 · Michael SianoszekBeen camping seasonally here since last late summer/early fall and visited family here several times before then. It is a truly a beautiful and wonderful campground, perfect for all ages and especially family friendly. Located in Brewster, you’re close to everything - great beaches, restaurants, and shopping. The campground itself has tons of amenities including a very cute and well-stocked camp store, free mini golf, several playgrounds throughout the loops, and a pond for fishing and kayaking/canoeing. This past summer they even added pickleball courts, which have been fun to use.The staff host weekend events like outdoor movie nights and tractor hayrides and organize a range of activities over holiday weekends, that often feature live music, BBQs, pizza parties, and more. The people who work at this family-owned and operated campground are so warm and hospitable. There’s a lot to enjoy here, and I can’t wait to return in the spring.
