Table Mountain Campground Introduce
Table Mountain Campground, situated at the top of Table Mountain Rd in Llano, CA 93544, USA, offers a highly appealing destination for those seeking a tranquil and well-equipped camping experience within the "Camping Near Me" category. Located within the scenic Angeles National Forest, this campground provides a refreshing mountain escape at an elevation of approximately 7,000 to 7,319 feet, ensuring cooler temperatures during warmer months. This detailed introduction will objectively explore the campground's environment, services, features, and any available promotional information, drawing from current online data and valuable insights from past visitors.
The environment at Table Mountain Campground is consistently praised for its beauty, spaciousness, and quiet ambiance. The campground is set in a hilly landscape, characterized by "tons of trees," predominantly pine and oak, providing abundant natural shade for many campsites. This extensive tree cover creates a more intimate and secluded feel for individual sites, even within a large campground. While it can be popular, especially on weekends and holidays like Father's Day weekend, visitors often find it "quiet for the most part," making it suitable for those seeking peace. The generous size of the campsites, allowing "a lot of space" for setting up tents and for general movement, is a significant advantage. Some sites, particularly those at higher elevations or along the edges, offer "great views" of the surrounding San Gabriel Mountain Range, though these "sites with views will be taken before you get there" if you arrive without a reservation. The elevation also contributes to a generally cooler climate, with summer temperatures averaging in the low 80s Fahrenheit during the day and cool nights, making it a desirable escape from the heat of lower elevations. While the presence of insects like mosquitoes and flies during certain seasons is noted, this is a common aspect of natural environments. The campground's overall well-maintained appearance, despite occasional litter that attentive visitors help to mitigate, contributes to a pleasant and inviting atmosphere.
Table Mountain Campground provides a comprehensive array of services designed to enhance the camping experience. The campground features 113 single sites (accommodating up to 8 guests and 2 vehicles) and 5 double sites (for up to 16 guests and 4 vehicles), all of which are mixed-use, suitable for both tents and RVs. RVs can be accommodated in various sizes, ranging from approximately 27 feet to 48 feet, although no hookups (electrical, water, or sewer) are available directly at the campsites, requiring RV campers to dry camp. Each site is equipped with a "fire pit" with a grill and a "picnic table." For essential needs, "bathrooms are located all around this huge site and are very well maintained." These are typically "vault toilets," and while they may not have running water inside, they are noted for being "clean and well maintained" and "fully stocked" with toilet paper. Importantly, "water spigots are spaced about every six sites" throughout the campground, providing access to "potable water" for drinking and washing, a significant convenience. Trash collection services are also available. The campground benefits from the presence of a camp host, and while not explicitly named in all reviews, their general helpfulness and contribution to the cleanliness are appreciated. For additional conveniences, the campground is "close to a grocery store and a Resteaunt" (restaurant), specifically the North Lodge, which is about a 10-minute walk. This lodge offers a "concession stand, general store, and gift shop," where campers can purchase "firewood," "ice," "snacks and drinks," and other camping supplies, eliminating the need to drive far for essentials. For information and reservations, the campground can be reached at (760) 249-3526 or +1 760-249-3526.
Table Mountain Campground boasts a variety of features that appeal to outdoor enthusiasts. Its location offers direct access to a "beautiful" "hiking trail that goes around the campground," perfect for a scenic and manageable loop. For more ambitious hikers, the campground is "close to the PCT trail," providing access to extended "nice hikes within 15 minutes." The Angeles Crest Highway, a scenic byway, meanders through the surrounding forest, offering stunning drives. Beyond hiking, the area provides opportunities for "mountain biking" and "birding." For a unique recreational option, a "disc golf area" is available at the nearby North Lodge, offering a fun activity with "unbeatable scenery." The campground's design, with its paved spurs and spread-out sites, offers both convenience and a sense of seclusion, allowing for a more private camping experience. The campground's natural setting also makes it excellent for "stargazing," as it is far enough from major light pollution to reveal dazzling night skies. The presence of two large meadows adds to the scenic diversity. Its close proximity to the ski resort town of Wrightwood means that while it's primarily a summer camping destination, it's in an area known for year-year round mountain activities. The ability to "walk around and enjoy" the site itself speaks to its overall pleasant layout and natural charm, making it a great choice for "a quick get away from where I live in the OC."
Table Mountain Campground operates under the U.S. Forest Service and is managed by a concessionaire, Mountain High Resort. Reservations for campsites are highly recommended, especially for weekends and during peak season, and can be made up to six months in advance via Recreation.gov or by calling (760) 249-3526. Fees for single sites typically range from $30.00 per night. An "Adventure Pass Required" or "America The Beautiful Pass" is necessary for vehicles parked at the campground. These passes can be purchased in advance. While some sites are reservable, there are also "non-reservable sites" available on a "first-come, first-served" basis, offering flexibility for spontaneous trips, though popular sites with views may be taken. The campground is generally open from "mid-May to the end of October," closing for the winter season, so checking operational dates is crucial. Visitors must always "Know Fire & Other Restrictions Before You Go!", as "Extreme and Critical fire use restrictions" are common in Southern California, potentially prohibiting campfires and even portable cooking systems. "Be Bear Aware!" is another vital safety reminder, and proper food storage in the provided bear lockers or locked vehicles is essential. Despite being a popular site, its "quiet" nature and "clean" facilities, combined with the abundance of "shady spots" and the friendly staff, make it a consistently recommended option. For specific inquiries related to amenities at the North Lodge or general campground operations, contacting Mountain High Resort at (760) 316-7828 is advisable. Table Mountain Campground provides an excellent opportunity for families and individuals to experience the beauty and tranquility of the Angeles National Forest with convenient access to essential amenities and recreational opportunities.

Table Mountain Campground Reviews
Nice campground with a lot of space. The campground was quiet for the most part. Check for reservations before going, and assume that the camp sites with views will be taken before you get there.Site 113 was well maintained but still had some trash floating around. I walked through 110-114 and picked up all the garbage I could find before leaving. The hiking trail that goes around the camp ground is really beautiful and doesn't take too long to do a loop.
Jun 15, 2024 · Derek GeorgevichMy wife, son and I stayed here father's day weekend. It was a lot of fun! We stayed for 2 days and enjoyed every bit of it. The campground is close to a grocery store and a Resteaunt great for a quick stop for drinks or dessert after a hot day. Bathrooms are located all around this huge site and are very well maintained. The site had tons of trees and offered large areas tent camp. Fire pits and water were on-site as well. This site is great to walk around and enjoy. It is also close to the PCT trail there are some nice hikes within 15 minutes. My only complaint was the amount of people. I love when sites are less populated because it's more peaceful. Overall it was a great site and would LOVE to come back again. It is great for a quick get away from where I live in the OC.
Aug 11, 2024 · Preston TreadwellGreat place to come with friends and family to enjoy the natural, serene mountains. It was snowing at the time I went lots of if traffic coming up. Make sure you get there early to get a good spot. Clean, for the most part, restrooms are nearby. Please pick up after yourselves. Also, take into consideration that it is a natural habitat to certain wildlife, rattlesnakes, bears, and even mountain lions have been sighted, be careful, and be respectful of the wildlife.
Jul 07, 2023 · Man-E CortezVery recommended!!! We went yesterday and had lots of fun. I’ll brief step by step.1. Check-in: You have to go to the North Lodge to check-in. There you can purchase logs with cash or credit card. You can also buy logs at camp post but you will need to pay cash. Lots of snacks and drinks as well.2. Going to the campground: as a first-timer, this was a bit confusing as their map doesn’t exactly tell you where the entrance is. But it’s not too hard. You get out of out the North Lodge parking where you came in from. When you exist the parking lot, there is an entrance to the campground to the right, I’d say within 20 feet?3. Campground: we stayed in 110. It depends on your preferences, but I always prefer way inward of any campground where there isn’t a lot of traffic. The spot was nice because the driveway is a loop and only one way is possible.4. Setting up your tent: I realized that it was hard to find a leveled flat ground to set up our tent. But your “unit” should be big enough and there has to be flat ground. Some flat grounds have shrubs underneath so it creates extra cushion and cold ground insulation.4. Bathroom: only pit toilets are available. For those who don’t know, pit toilets are just like the porta-potties. Make sure to bring a wet nap to wipe the cover. Other than the stinky pit, overall bathroom is quite clean! There is no sink in the bathroom FYI5. Water: there are water valves available near units. I’m not sure it’s drinkable but definitely clean enough to wash. (Obviously no hot water)6. Fire pit: they have very nice metal fire pit. Make sure to gather nicely dried wooden bits to start fire. You might need them quite a lot because ITS SUPER WINDY. And I don’t think you need to purchase firewood because there are quite a lot of big dried wooden chunks and pine cones everywhere. VERY IMPORTANT!!! Make sure to extinguish fire completely with water. You might need to use some 4~6 gallons to not hear any sizzling sound.7. Getting out of the campground: Remember, if you are staying in a loop driveway, you must turn so that you don’t run into oncoming traffic!!8. Check-out: you don’t need to do anything to check out. Make sure to clean everything for the next people. You just drive out, no need to stop by the North Lodge to check-out.
Jun 19, 2023 · Sun KimStaff at the north resort as well as camp hosts and other staff through out the camp ground were very friendly and accommodating. Campground is very spread out, with beautiful sites and amenities. Highly recommend this place.
