Based on enthusiastic reviews from fellow campers, Oaks On The River offers a unique blend of spaciousness, seclusion, natural beauty, and a welcoming atmosphere, making it an ideal choice for families, couples, and individuals seeking a tranquil escape close to home.
One of the standout features repeatedly praised by visitors is the remarkable seclusion offered by most of the campsites. One long-term guest who stayed for an entire summer for work purposes raved about how the spots are "very secluded," creating a sense of privacy and personal space that is often lacking in more crowded campgrounds. This reviewer explicitly contrasted Oaks On The River with other campgrounds where spots are "about on top of each other," highlighting the significant advantage of having well-separated sites. This emphasis on seclusion suggests that local users seeking a peaceful and private camping experience will find Oaks On The River particularly appealing.
Adding to the charm and explorability of the campground are the numerous "small trails," some of which playfully lead to other campsites, as noted by one amused guest. These trails likely offer opportunities for leisurely walks, exploring the natural surroundings, and perhaps even a bit of unexpected discovery within the campground itself. For those who enjoy a bit of wandering and immersing themselves in the outdoors, these trails provide an added dimension to the camping experience at Oaks On The River.
The value proposition of Oaks On The River is also highlighted in the reviews. The long-term guest specifically mentioned that "the price was very fair," indicating that the campground offers a good balance between the quality of the experience and the cost. This affordability, combined with the desirable features and environment, makes Oaks On The River an attractive option for local users looking for a worthwhile "camping near me" destination without breaking the bank.
The positive experiences at Oaks On The River extend to the people who manage and maintain the campground. The "family that helps run it" is described as "super kind and helpful with whatever you need." This personal touch and commitment to guest satisfaction can significantly enhance the overall camping experience, creating a welcoming and supportive environment. Knowing that there are friendly and helpful staff members on-site can provide peace of mind and contribute to a more enjoyable and relaxing stay for local campers.
Nature lovers will appreciate the abundance of mature trees throughout the campground. The reviewer noted that "most of the spots have a ton of trees in and around the sites which helps with a lot of good shade!" This is a significant benefit, particularly during the warmer months, providing a cool and comfortable environment for campers to relax and enjoy the outdoors without being constantly exposed to direct sunlight. The shade also contributes to the overall ambiance of the campground, creating a more natural and pleasant setting.
One particularly favored spot, campsite number 22, was highlighted for its "HUGE" yard, further emphasizing the spaciousness and privacy offered at Oaks On The River. The reviewer also reiterated that the campground is "very quiet and peaceful," reinforcing its appeal for those seeking a tranquil retreat away from the noise and bustle of everyday life. This peaceful atmosphere is a major draw for campers looking to relax and reconnect with nature.
For pet owners, Oaks On The River appears to be a welcoming destination. The reviewer mentioned that their dog "absolutely loved it here," perhaps even more than they did. This suggests that the campground is pet-friendly, with ample space for dogs to roam and explore, contributing to a positive experience for both owners and their furry companions. This is a significant factor for many local users when choosing a "camping near me" location.
While the overall experience at Oaks On The River is overwhelmingly positive, one reviewer did mention that "the pool was clean and the bathrooms were too, although they’re pretty outdated." This provides an objective piece of feedback regarding the facilities. While cleanliness is a crucial aspect and is maintained, potential visitors should be aware that the bathroom facilities might not be the most modern. However, the positive comments about cleanliness suggest that they are well-maintained despite their age.
Another reviewer echoed the sentiment of a "lovely campsite" that is "very well manicured" with "nicely spaced, secluded lots." They also praised the "very friendly and accommodating staff" and expressed a wish to have stayed longer. This reinforces the key positive attributes of Oaks On The River: well-maintained grounds, private campsites, and excellent customer service.
Adding a touch of whimsy and natural exploration for families, the second reviewer mentioned that "the kids even found a cool, 'secret' tree tunnel down by the river that went along for quite a ways!" This delightful discovery highlights the potential for unique and engaging experiences for children at the campground, suggesting a family-friendly environment with opportunities for imaginative play and exploration along the riverbank.

Oaks On The River Reviews
I could seriously go on and on about this place! My husband and I stayed here for an entire summer for work purposes and it was AMAZING!! Most of the spots are very secluded which makes it feel very personal. In most campgrounds the spots are about on top of each other, but not this one!!! Not to mention there were a ton of small trails, and some even lead to other campsites which I thought was funny😂 The price was very fair and the family that helps run it are super kind and helpful with whatever you need! Most of the spots have a ton of trees in and around the sites which helps with a lot of good shade! My favorite spot is 22, our yard was HUGE, and this campground is very quiet and peaceful! Our dog absolutely loved it here, maybe even more than we did!! The pool was clean and the bathrooms were too, although they’re pretty outdated. Oaks is seriously my favorite campground we’ve ever been to, and we’ve been in the road for work for 2 years! I would come back again and again, this place is gorgeous!
