Ted Ranch Campground Introduce
For local campers searching for "camping near me" in the Brooklyn, Michigan area, Ted Ranch Campground, situated at 12985 Monroe Pike, Brooklyn, MI 49230, USA, with phone numbers (517) 592-2434 and +1 517-592-2434, presents a camping option with some significant considerations based on recent customer experiences.
The environment at Ted Ranch Campground, according to multiple reviews, can be characterized as somewhat basic and potentially disorganized. One visitor described it as "more of a large field decorated with porta-potties, broken playground equipment, and random farming machines." This paints a picture of a less developed campground with perhaps limited aesthetic appeal. The site planning has also been criticized as "abysmal," with narrow roads and the seemingly arbitrary placement of neighboring hookups and porta-potties making maneuvering, especially for larger RVs like a 40ft fifth wheel, "near impossible." The ground surface at many sites is reported to be primarily "dirt and rocks," which could impact comfort and cleanliness.
In terms of services, the reviews strongly indicate some significant limitations at Ted Ranch Campground. Most notably, multiple reviewers explicitly state that there are "NO SHOWERS OR PERMANENT RESTROOMS HERE, ONLY PORTA POTTIES SCATTERED THROUGHOUT CAMPGROUND." This lack of proper bathhouse facilities is a major drawback, especially for longer stays or those who prioritize hygiene and comfort. Furthermore, it is emphasized that there are "NO SEWER HOOKUPS AT ANY SITES, EVEN SEASONAL ONES!!!!!!" This is a crucial piece of information for RV owners who typically rely on sewer connections for waste disposal. While partial hookups (presumably water and electric) are mentioned, the distance to these hookups from the campsites can be substantial, with one camper reporting needing 55-foot extensions for both power and water, even when positioned on the closest edge of their site.
Several features of Ted Ranch Campground have been mentioned, both positive and negative. On the negative side, the disorganization seems to extend to the front office operations, with one reviewer recounting a "runaround" due to the staff not knowing their reservation details and keeping records on a steno pad. The lack of a proper bathhouse also meant that during a tornado warning in the vicinity, campers had "no place to shelter," raising serious safety concerns. The issue of disruptive noise from neighboring campers, with partying continuing past the 10 pm to 8 am quiet hours, was also reported, indicating a potential lack of consistent enforcement of campground rules. While a playground is mentioned and described by one reviewer as "VERY nice," the other review noted "broken playground equipment," suggesting that its condition may be inconsistent.
On the positive side, one reviewer mentioned that "The lake here is very nice with a sandy/pebble bottom," indicating that access to a pleasant lake is a potential amenity of the location, although not directly part of the campground's infrastructure. This could be a draw for those interested in swimming or other lake activities. The fact that the "manager/owners went to excessive lengths trying to assure" a dissatisfied customer and offered a return visit suggests an attempt at customer service recovery, although the fundamental issues of facilities remain.
There is no explicit promotional information available in the provided reviews. However, the campground's proximity to a lake might be considered an indirect selling point. The willingness of the management to address complaints, even to the extent of evicting disruptive campers and offering a return visit, could be interpreted as an attempt to promote a positive future experience, although this was met with skepticism by the affected camper due to the lack of basic facilities.
In conclusion, Ted Ranch Campground near Brooklyn, MI, appears to be a very basic and somewhat disorganized camping facility with significant limitations in terms of amenities. The lack of showers, permanent restrooms (only porta-potties), and sewer hookups are major drawbacks that potential campers, especially those with RVs, should be aware of. The site planning and office management have also been criticized. While the campground may offer access to a nice lake and the management seems willing to address issues, the fundamental lack of essential facilities like a proper bathhouse raises serious concerns about comfort and convenience. For local users searching for "camping near me," it is strongly recommended to carefully consider these limitations and perhaps explore other campgrounds in the area that offer more comprehensive amenities, especially if showers and sewer hookups are a priority. The significantly lower cost of state parks with more amenities, as pointed out by one reviewer, further suggests that Ted Ranch Campground may not offer good value for money compared to other options.

Ted Ranch Campground Reviews
This place was rather disorganized and definitely not family friendly. It’s more of a large field decorated with porta-potties, broken playground equipment, and random farming machines. The lady at the front office kept her records on a steno pad and gave us quite the runaround because she didn’t know who we were or what our reservation was for.Site planning was abysmal. The large sites barely accommodated our 40ft fifth wheel and maneuvering was made near impossible by the whimsical placement of neighboring hookups, narrow roads, and porta-potties placed at the head of the sites.Despite only having partial hookups, the place didn’t have a proper bathhouse. We wouldn’t have noticed as much of it weren’t for the fact that a tornado went through just south of the campground and we had no place to shelter.I’d boondock in a Walmart parking lot before staying here again.
Aug 18, 2021 · Kristiana WhisnantFirst off, BE ADVISED THERE ARE NO SHOWERS OR PERMANENT RESTROOMS HERE, ONLY PORTA POTTIES SCATTERED THROUGHOUT CAMPGROUND. ALSO NO SEWER HOOKUPS AT ANY SITES, EVEN SEASONAL ONES!!!!!!We stayed here on a dpur of the moment trip (have friends that are seasonal campers) when we got there, office was closed. I called the main number, and the office lady came down and got us checked in. Went to where our site was, had to be told by "neighbors" where the site was, as it was only marked by occasional spray paint marks on the ground. Got camper positioned and needed extensions for both power and water. Both were 55' from my camper (I was on the closest edge of the site). The site was all dirt and rocks, as were a lot of the sites. Our first two (of 3) nights, the site next to us, was still partying at 230 am (and I don't mean just sitting around campfire enjoying nature). Quiet time is 10 pm to 8 am. Second night, I asked them at MIDNIGHT to take it down a few notches as we were going to bed. They were still going strong at 215 am. At that point, I called the office, and the "manager" said she'd try to reach them (which she did on a video call on messenger). The next day, the two seasonal sites involved were served with eviction papers, and my family spent our last two days and one night getting dirty stares and rude comments. Management/owners went to excessive lengths trying to assure us that it's not the ordinary at their campground and trying to get us to return at another time. That currently is up in the air. But eith NO SHOWERS OR PERMANENT BATHROOMS I won't be in any hurry to return. Especially since I can pay $6 more a night at state parks and have water, electric and sewer at my sites (I don't need the sewer since I have no holding tanks) nightly patrols to deal with "rowdy" campers AND multiple bathhouse for showers and restrooms (electric only sites AT SP are on average $5 cheaper than here) The lake here is very nice with a sandy/pebble bottom. The playground is VERY nice.

Jul 23, 2019 · Jennifer JohnsonVery lovely campsite. Tons of Rustic options available and pretty close to the race track. Lovely views of the lake with Rv rentals available. Also to the woman who worked last night to help us get in late, you were a life saver! 😀 We almost had to sleep in our car because we had to wait for my husbands job to let us know what his next assignment was. So thanks for keeping your prices where they are for the sites, even on race week. 🙌 Bless you and your Ranch! They have such a cool peacock 🦚 near the house too.
Jul 12, 2023 · Baby SpiritWe have been seasonal for almost 3 years. Very quiet. We love the private ownership. Glad we moved to this camp.
