The address places Thousand Trails Lynchburg in a more secluded, wooded area near Gladys, Virginia, suggesting an environment that could appeal to those seeking a retreat away from urban noise and activity. One reviewer describes it as "another beautiful setting tucked in the woods with many hiking path," indicating the presence of natural trails and an immersive outdoor experience. The mention of a "man-made pond" further suggests a scenic element that could enhance the recreational opportunities and aesthetic appeal of the campground.
However, it is crucial to acknowledge the significant concerns raised in one of the provided reviews. This feedback describes "terrible" and "dirty" facilities, a lack of visible or responsive staff ("non existent, no one answered the phone, no one in the office, no one at the gate"), and concerning campsite conditions characterized as a "homeless village" with reports of nighttime disturbances including yelling, screaming, intoxicated individuals on golf carts, fighting, and alleged drug sales. The reviewer recounted a negative interaction with a staff member who reportedly showed a lack of concern for nighttime issues. This overwhelmingly negative experience led the reviewer to leave early and express a complete dissatisfaction with Thousand Trails facilities in general.
In contrast, another reviewer offers a more balanced perspective, acknowledging the potential of the campground and the positive efforts of a new manager. This review mentions that "many campsites" are available but advises confirming amenities with the staff. It reiterates the "beautiful setting" and the appeal of being "off the grid and away from noise, and chaos." This reviewer also notes that the property is "in need of many updates," specifically mentioning the pool, bathrooms, activity building, and public venue area. While the natural environment of Thousand Trails Lynchburg appears to hold promise, and the efforts of a new manager could lead to improvements, the significant issues raised in the negative review warrant careful consideration and investigation by potential visitors. Thousand Trails Lynchburg Reviews
The worst campground we have ever had the misfortune of visiting. We travel across the US twice this year. Thousand trails Lynchburg set an all time low. Facilities were in terrible condition and dirty. Staff were non existent, no one answered the phone, no one in the office, no one at the gate. When you called on the radio left at the gate another camper came. The campsites looked like homeless village complete with yelling and screaming all night, drunks on golf carts, fighting, and drug sales. We found one staff member in 3 days, who we chased down, as he drove through the ground at 20 mph. When I asked about who to call at night he responded "no one works at night and we don't care"Congratulations folks, you have cured us of ever visiting another Thousand Trails facility. It was so bad we left 2 days early.
Nov 03, 2024 · Lee ScriptureThere are many campsites to choose from however the amenities need to be confirmed by the staff. This is another beautiful setting tucked in the woods with many hiking path. The man-made pond is a nice added touch. The staff is phenomenal. We were told that a new manager is making a lot of changes and is very enthusiastic in regards to bringing the place back. Like many of Thousand Trails campgrounds the property is in need of many updates. Including the pool, bathrooms, activity building, and public venue area. This campground has a lot of potential. If you like being off the grid and away from noice, and chaos, you can get that here.
Oct 21, 2024 · Kelly FitzpatrickBeautiful camping area, big sites most with electric water and sewer. Lodge/ clubhouse and pool are a bit rustic but awesome place to spend a few days or the summer. Nice hiking trail around the lake. The staff is helpful and friendly! Thank you for another great trip!
Oct 19, 2024 · angeline DohertyThe staff is very helpful and willing to go out of their way to assist. We stayed for and extended amount of time while waiting to move to property we purchased. The staff always seemed to be interested in getting to know people and make things as pleasant as possible. Truly top notch staff. See you guys again someday down the road.
Oct 25, 2024 · Clint EdwardsWe arrived when it was dark and the whole park was not lit at all. We strictly use our headlights and flashlights to maneuver through the entire place. The park is not in an RV friendly area. Luckily we have a smaller RV, I can’t even imagine larger ones trying to navigate their way to and from the park. The roadways inside the park were very unlevel, unnaturally unlevel. There were large mounds of gravel in the paths and large gaps in the driving paths to where you had to go around and avoid certain paths or you would damage your rig. Some RV spots had large rocks at the entry of them and some at a large slant to where there is no way you can park there or level your rig. The campfire rings are on hills, which is a safety hazard. We were under an acorn tree and there were acorns dropping on our RV the whole time and it was loud. There were only 2 washers and 2 dryers for the whole place and the pool was disgusting. You can never get ahold of anyone at the office. We tried all 3 of their numbers and it always went to voicemail and the voicemail was always full. We called multiple times during a months span to ask questions and during our stay.
