Environment and Ambiance:
Three Mile Lake campground is described by visitors as "very clean and quiet," suggesting a well-maintained and peaceful atmosphere conducive to relaxation. The presence of "trees for shade" indicates a comfortable environment, particularly during the warmer months, allowing campers to enjoy the outdoors without excessive sun exposure. The overall ambiance seems to prioritize tranquility and cleanliness, making it an attractive option for those seeking a serene escape within the "camping near me" category.
Campsite Features and Amenities:
A significant advantage of Three Mile Lake campground appears to be the well-equipped campsites. According to a reviewer, all visible sites include electric hookups, fire pits, and picnic tables. These are essential amenities for a comfortable camping experience, providing convenience for cooking, campfires, and enjoying meals outdoors. The inclusion of electric hookups caters to a range of campers, from those using tents and needing power for charging devices to RVers requiring electricity for their appliances. The provision of fire pits encourages the traditional camping experience of gathering around a campfire, while picnic tables offer a dedicated space for dining and other activities.
Bathroom and Shower Facilities:
The cleanliness of the facilities is highlighted in the reviews, with specific praise for the women's bathroom. It is noted to be "very clean" and well-maintained, featuring two shower stalls that are also clean and kept up. Clean and functional bathroom and shower facilities are crucial for a positive camping experience, and the positive feedback in this regard suggests that Three Mile Lake campground prioritizes the comfort and hygiene of its guests.
Family-Friendly Features:
For families with children looking for "camping near me," Three Mile Lake campground offers a "big playground," providing a dedicated space for kids to play and burn off energy. Playgrounds are a valuable amenity for keeping children entertained and contribute to a family-friendly atmosphere within the campground.
Group Gathering Space:
The presence of a "big covered patio with picnic tables for a large gathering" is another notable feature. This space would be ideal for family reunions, group camping trips, or other large gatherings, providing a sheltered area for dining, socializing, and other activities, regardless of the weather.
Rental Cabins:
Three Mile Lake campground also offers alternative accommodation options with "5 rental cabins that sleep up to six people." These cabins provide a more comfortable and convenient option for those who prefer not to tent camp or who may not have an RV. Sleeping up to six people, these cabins could be a great option for families or small groups looking for a getaway with more amenities than traditional camping.
The Three Mile Lake Situation:
It is crucial for potential visitors to be aware of the current status of Three Mile Lake, which is directly adjacent to the campground. According to a recent review, the lake was drained in 2016, and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has ongoing construction throughout the lake. Consequently, access to the lake from the boat docks was not possible at the time of the review due to low water levels. The reviewer specifically advises those planning to fish in Three Mile Lake to call ahead to inquire about its accessibility for fishing. This situation is a significant factor for those whose camping plans include lake activities. However, the reviewer noted that Twelve Mile Lake, which is approximately 6 miles away, was an alternative fishing location.
Overall Atmosphere and Experience:
Despite the issue with Three Mile Lake, one reviewer stated they "had the greatest time" and felt as if they were the only ones there, suggesting a sense of peace and tranquility within the campground itself. This indicates that the campground offers a pleasant and uncrowded experience, even if the adjacent lake is currently not fully accessible for all activities.

Three Mile Lake campground Reviews
Loved the campground. Very clean and quiet. All the sites that I saw have electric, fire pits and picnic tables. Trees for shade. The women's bathroom was very clean. Two showers stalls, also clean and kept up. Big playground for kids. A big covered patio with picnic tables for a large gathering. 5 rental cabins that sleep up to six people. The only bummer was we didn't know that 3 Mile Lake that is attached to the campground was drained in 2016. DNR has ongoing construction throughout the lake. We were not able to get on the lake from the boat docks. To low. If you plan on fishing this lake, call before you go to find out if it's accessible for fishing. We decided to head towards 12 Mile Lake to fish. That was about 6 miles away.
