Cottonwood Campground Introduce
For local camping enthusiasts seeking a charming and relatively undeveloped "camping near me" experience, Cottonwood Campground, situated at FR 548, Dugway, UT 84022, USA, offers a picturesque setting alongside a lively stream. You can contact them at (385) 273-1100 or +1 385-273-1100 for any inquiries. Located as the first campsite to the left upon arrival, Cottonwood Campground provides a natural and somewhat rustic camping environment, appealing to those who appreciate the sounds of flowing water and a more self-sufficient camping style.
The environment surrounding Cottonwood Campground is characterized by the presence of a fast-running stream that flows alongside the camping area. This creek is described as "cute" and adds a pleasant auditory and visual element to the camping experience. While one reviewer noted that there isn't a "ton of shade," the area is still considered "pretty," suggesting a natural beauty with possibly scattered trees providing some relief from the sun. The campground's layout appears to include individual campsites, with at least one (#1) being suitable for a single party and another (#2) designated as a double site. The narrowness of the access road, mentioned by a prospective visitor, is a point to consider for those with larger vehicles or trailers, although it did not deter their interest in camping there.
The services at Cottonwood Campground are quite basic, aligning with a more primitive camping model. A significant point emphasized by a reviewer is the absence of water hookups and bathrooms. Therefore, campers must be fully prepared to bring their own water supply for drinking, cooking, and sanitation. Additionally, there are no garbage cans provided, meaning that a "pack it out" policy is in effect – all trash generated during the camping trip must be taken away by the campers. Each campsite does come equipped with a picnic table and a grill, offering essential amenities for outdoor dining and cooking over a fire. The payment system is also noteworthy: it operates on a cash-only basis, requiring campers to deposit the appropriate fee (e.g., $20 per night for a single site like #1, $36 for a double site like #2) in an envelope using a drop box.
The features of Cottonwood Campground include its location alongside a fast-running stream, which is a major draw for its scenic and auditory appeal. The provision of a picnic table and a grill at each campsite offers convenience for meal preparation. The availability of both single and double campsites allows for flexibility depending on the size of the camping party. One reviewer mentioned that the campground is suitable for a single family or a group of perhaps 15-20 people, suggesting that while individual sites exist, larger groups might be able to book multiple adjacent sites to camp together. The fact that it's the first campsite on the left upon entering might make it easily accessible. However, the cash-only payment system, the lack of water hookups and bathrooms, and the need to pack out all garbage are crucial features that potential campers must be aware of and prepared for.
For local users searching for "camping near me" who are comfortable with a more rustic and self-sufficient camping experience, Cottonwood Campground offers a charming option. Its proximity to Dugway makes it accessible for a weekend getaway or a longer stay. The presence of the stream is a unique feature that many campers find appealing. However, the lack of basic amenities like water and restrooms necessitates careful planning and preparation. Local campers who own their camping gear and are accustomed to primitive camping will find this campground suitable. It might also appeal to those looking for a more secluded experience away from crowded, developed campgrounds.
As a platform category focused on "camping near me," it's important to highlight the types of services and goods that would be essential for a visit to Cottonwood Campground. Local outdoor supply stores would be the primary source for items such as portable water containers, water purification tablets or filters, portable camping toilets or sanitation supplies, trash bags for the "pack it out" policy, charcoal or firewood for the grills, and any other personal camping gear like tents, sleeping bags, and cooking utensils. For those new to primitive camping, these stores can also offer advice on essential equipment and best practices for a comfortable and responsible trip. Given the cash-only payment system, local ATMs or banks should also be a point of interest for campers before heading to the campground. Platforms that provide checklists for primitive camping or offer gear rental services could also be valuable resources for those planning a trip to Cottonwood Campground.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available for Cottonwood Campground in the provided text. Local users interested in camping here should directly contact the campground at the provided phone numbers to inquire about any seasonal openings, specific regulations, or potential changes in fees or services. In conclusion, Cottonwood Campground near Dugway, Utah, offers a picturesque "camping near me" option characterized by its lovely stream-side location. However, it is essential for local users to be aware of its primitive nature, including the absence of water hookups and bathrooms, the cash-only payment system, and the requirement to pack out all trash. Is the first camping site as you come in to the left. It has a fast running stream running by . Not a ton of shade but still pretty it had a picnic Table and a grill already. If you choose#1 is a single $20 a night #2 it is considered a double so they charge $36 a night..you will need cash to deposit in a envelope in a drop box. Oh there is no water hookups or bathrooms. Bring your own water!! Also there is no garbage cans whatever garbage you end up, you take out.

Jun 05, 2023 · Wendy LangebergOnly three sites at this particular campsite in South Willow Canyon. I only went as far as Intake. Intake was a beautiful campsite very shady with access to the stream running through the canyon. Never made it up to the upper Canyon to the other can sites.
