The environment of Legion Park Campground is described as a "nice little park in Settlement Canyon." This suggests a setting that is pleasant and potentially smaller in scale compared to larger campgrounds in more remote areas. Settlement Canyon itself likely contributes to the ambiance, possibly offering scenic views and a natural setting within relatively easy reach of Tooele. The presence of "good shade" is a notable environmental feature, particularly beneficial during warmer months, providing comfortable areas for camping and picnicking. The availability of hiking trails and a reservoir for fishing further enhances the appeal of the location, offering diverse opportunities for outdoor engagement.
In terms of services and features, Legion Park Campground seems to cater primarily to tent camping. One reviewer specifically mentioned that it "had plenty of tent camping spots" when they visited the weekend before Memorial Day, indicating a good capacity for tent campers, at least during that time. The inclusion of hiking trails directly within or accessible from the campground is a significant feature for those who enjoy exploring on foot and immersing themselves in the natural surroundings of Settlement Canyon. The presence of a reservoir opens up opportunities for fishing, adding another dimension to the recreational activities available to campers and day visitors alike. The fact that "dogs are allowed as long as you have a way to keep them near you" makes Legion Park a pet-friendly option for those who like to bring their canine companions on outdoor adventures, emphasizing responsible pet ownership.
A point of consideration mentioned in the reviews is that the campground has "a lot of foot traffic on the main road." This suggests that while the camping areas themselves might be more secluded, the main access road through Legion Park could experience significant pedestrian activity. This is something to be aware of in terms of noise levels and general activity around the campground. However, the reviewer who noted the "good shade" also mentioned it as a "nice place to eat lunch," indicating that the park serves as a pleasant spot for day use and picnics, further contributing to potential foot traffic.
The information available does not include specific details about amenities such as restrooms, water sources, or fire pits. As a "nice little park," it might offer basic facilities, but campers should be prepared for varying levels of infrastructure. It would be advisable to inquire about these specifics when contacting the provided phone numbers. Similarly, there is no explicit promotional information in the reviews, but the implicit promotion lies in the positive descriptions of the park as a "nice little park" with good shade, ample tent camping spots (at least at certain times), hiking trails, and a fishing reservoir, all within a convenient location for residents of Tooele and surrounding areas.
For local users in Singapore exploring the concept of "camping near me" in the context of potential future travel to the United States, Legion Park Campground illustrates a type of community-oriented or locally managed park that offers camping alongside other recreational facilities. These types of parks often provide a more accessible and less wilderness-focused camping experience, suitable for families and those new to camping. The combination of camping with activities like hiking and fishing in a relatively developed area is a common model for local parks across the US.
In conclusion, Legion Park Campground in Tooele, Utah, presents itself as a convenient "camping near me" option within the pleasant setting of Settlement Canyon. Its features include potentially ample tent camping spots (especially outside of peak holiday weekends), access to hiking trails, and a reservoir for fishing. The park is also dog-friendly, provided pets are properly restrained. The presence of good shade makes it a comfortable location, although the main road experiences significant foot traffic. While specific details about campground amenities are not provided in the reviews, the overall impression is of a nice, accessible park offering a blend of camping and outdoor recreational opportunities for the local community. For those in the Tooele area looking for a nearby camping spot with activities like hiking and fishing, Legion Park Campground is worth exploring further by contacting the provided phone numbers for more detailed information.

Apr 24, 2025 · Will PBeen going here since I was a baby and I've loved it every time everyone is friendly and it's taken care of well. Some people leave trash but that's a given. Full hookups and spaces you don't have to hook up. Bathroom building and porta potty. Also a lake to fish in, tons of hiking and a little park.
Sep 08, 2022 · Chris GWe really liked the campground. It's clean and well maintained. They have some sites with full RV hookups and some with just electrical. The two downsides were that the water is not potable and the sites are all next to each other so close quarters with not a lot of privacy. There were only a few people when we were there but I imagine it'll get more crowded as it gets warmer.
