Tishomingo State Park Campground Introduce
For local outdoor enthusiasts searching for "camping near me" in Mississippi, Tishomingo State Park Campground, located at JR73+M6, Tishomingo, MS 38838, USA, offers a compelling option, particularly for those who appreciate natural beauty and extensive hiking trails. Situated within the renowned Tishomingo State Park, this campground provides a basecamp for exploring the unique geological formations and lush landscapes of northeast Mississippi. You can reach them at (662) 438-6914 or +1 662-438-6914 for inquiries and reservations.
According to visitor feedback, Tishomingo State Park itself is undeniably beautiful, and the campground benefits from this stunning natural setting. One reviewer enthusiastically described it as "such a beautiful campground and park," highlighting the enjoyment derived from relaxation and exploring the numerous hiking trails. This suggests that the environment surrounding the campground is a major draw, offering opportunities for immersion in nature and physical activity. The presence of well-maintained trails caters to hikers of all levels, promising scenic vistas and a chance to discover the park's unique features.
However, it's crucial for prospective campers to be aware of some significant points raised by recent visitors. One major concern highlighted in a review is the absence of a lake. The reviewer expressed considerable disappointment upon arrival, noting that the lake appeared to have been drained for several years, with substantial brush growth in its place. This absence was particularly impactful as the campsite was expected to border the water. For those specifically seeking a lakeside camping experience as part of their "camping near me" search, Tishomingo State Park Campground, at present, does not offer this amenity. It is advisable to confirm the current status of the lake with the campground directly before making a reservation if water access is a priority.
Another aspect to consider, as mentioned in the feedback, is the potential for noise. One visitor reported a surprisingly loud environment during their stay, likening it to camping near a school playground and dog park. While acknowledging that this might have been due to a specific group of campers and not a constant issue, it's a factor to keep in mind, especially for those seeking a truly quiet and secluded camping experience. If tranquility is a top priority for your "camping near me" selection, you might want to inquire about potential noise levels during your intended visit.
Despite these drawbacks, the positive feedback regarding the beauty of the park and the availability of hiking trails remains significant. For individuals and families who prioritize exploring natural landscapes and engaging in outdoor activities like hiking, Tishomingo State Park Campground could still be an appealing choice. The nice staff, also mentioned in a review, contribute to a positive overall experience, ensuring that campers have access to assistance and information during their stay. The bathhouses are described as "ok," suggesting they meet basic needs but might not be a highlight of the facilities.
Considering the "camping near me" platform category, Tishomingo State Park Campground offers a specific type of experience centered around natural beauty and recreational trails. While it may not cater to those specifically seeking waterfront camping or a guaranteed quiet environment, its strengths lie in its scenic location and the opportunities for hiking and exploration within Tishomingo State Park. The park itself is highly recommended for a day trip, further emphasizing its inherent natural appeal.

In conclusion, Tishomingo State Park Campground offers a unique camping experience within a beautiful state park setting, particularly appealing to those who enjoy hiking and exploring natural landscapes. While the absence of a functional lake and potential for noise are factors to consider, the positive aspects of the park's scenery and the availability of trails make it a worthwhile option for a day trip and potentially for camping, depending on individual preferences. Tishomingo State Park Campground Reviews
It's such a beautiful campground and park. Had a great time there relaxing and hiking all the trails
Nov 05, 2024 · veronica sojaThe people that work here are nice. Bath houses are ok. But there’s a big problem for me. There’s no lake. The lake looks like it has been drained for a couple of years, but there was no mention of that online. That was our main disappointment - pulling up to a campsite that is supposed to border water only to see years of brush growth instead. The other problem can’t be helped, but I feel like it’s worth mentioning. This place seemed extremely loud on our visit. I’m sure it was just a handful of campers, but it sounded like we were camping 100yds from a school playground and dog park. Tishomingo State park is a beautiful park, and I would highly recommend it for a day trip. But if you want a lake and a quiet camping experience, don’t camp here.
Nov 05, 2024 · Nathan CookMe and my family have been going here for years and it has been our favorite place to go since I remember. It has so many rocks to climb, there’s a large bridge called the swinging bridge with a river underneath it, places to swim in rivers and creeks and so many hiking trails with so many things to see along the way!
