Town of KICCO Campsite Introduce
For local adventurers seeking a truly off-the-grid "camping near me" experience, the Town of KICCO Campsite, located in River Ranch, FL 33867, USA, offers a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the natural beauty of Florida. With contact phone numbers (800) 250-4200 and +1 800-250-4200, inquiries about this primitive campground can be easily made. Based on recent visitor feedback, KICCO Campsite provides a serene environment along the Kissimmee River, abundant hiking trails, and ample space for camping, all while emphasizing a back-to-nature approach with limited amenities.
The environment surrounding the Town of KICCO Campsite is consistently described as "beautiful" and "out of the grid," appealing to those looking to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Situated near River Ranch, Florida, the campground benefits from its proximity to the Kissimmee River, a significant waterway in the region. Campers can expect a "calm river" adjacent to the campground, offering a "nice spot to fish" and likely providing opportunities for observing local wildlife. The presence of "many trails to hike" suggests a diverse landscape suitable for exploration on foot, allowing visitors to experience the natural flora and fauna of the area. The drive into the campsite is also noteworthy, described as a "beautiful slow drive in about 9 miles on a dirt road past River ranch," hinting at a sense of remoteness and immersion in nature as you approach the destination. The campground's location right on the Kissimmee River further enhances its appeal for those seeking a riverside camping experience.
The services and features of the Town of KICCO Campsite are explicitly identified as "primitive," meaning that campers should expect minimal to no traditional campground amenities. As one reviewer succinctly states, "It's a primitive campground, so take water and the essentials." This implies that there are likely no on-site water sources, electricity hookups, restrooms with running water, or other common campground conveniences. Campers must be self-sufficient and prepared to bring everything they need for a comfortable and safe stay, including their own water supply, portable toilet facilities if desired, and any necessary power sources. Despite the lack of amenities, the campground does offer a significant feature: "Free reservation made online." This allows campers to secure their spot in advance without incurring reservation fees, which can be a considerable benefit for budget-conscious travelers. The fact that "RVs ok" suggests that while the camping is primitive, the sites can accommodate recreational vehicles, although RVs will need to be self-contained as there are no hookups available.
The reviews also mention "plenty of space to camp," indicating that the campground offers ample room for setting up tents or parking RVs without feeling crowded. This sense of spaciousness contributes to the feeling of being out in nature and away from more developed camping areas. Another important feature to note is that "no amenities cell service is spotty." This reinforces the "out of the grid" nature of the campsite and highlights the need for campers to be prepared for limited or no mobile phone connectivity. This can be seen as a positive for those wanting a true digital detox, but it's crucial for safety and communication planning. The combination of free reservations, ample space, and the acceptance of RVs (without hookups) makes KICCO Campsite an attractive option for those comfortable with primitive camping.
Given its nature as a primitive campsite managed by the "Town of KICCO," specific services beyond basic land management are unlikely. There may be designated camping areas to help organize use and minimize environmental impact, but campers should not expect staff on-site or regular maintenance of individual campsites. The emphasis is on self-reliance and enjoying the natural environment with minimal infrastructure. The "calm river" offers opportunities for fishing, although specific regulations and licensing requirements would need to be adhered to. The "many trails to hike" suggest that the area is managed to allow for recreational hiking, but trail maintenance levels and signage might vary depending on the management resources.
Promotional information for the Town of KICCO Campsite is not explicitly mentioned in the reviews. The key promotional aspect appears to be the "free reservation made online," which can be a significant draw for campers looking to minimize costs. To find out about any other potential promotions, rules, regulations, or specific details about the campground, local users would likely need to visit the website of the Town of KICCO or contact the relevant local authorities managing the campsite. Information regarding permits, allowed activities, and any seasonal closures would also be available through these official channels. Given its primitive nature and free reservation system, the primary promotion is the opportunity to experience natural Florida camping without fees or extensive development.
In conclusion, the Town of KICCO Campsite offers a unique "camping near me" experience for those in the River Ranch, Florida, area who are comfortable with primitive camping. Its beautiful, off-grid environment along the Kissimmee River provides opportunities for fishing and exploring numerous hiking trails. The ample camping space and the fact that RVs are permitted (though self-contained) add to its accessibility for a range of campers. The free online reservation system is a significant benefit. However, potential visitors must be prepared for the lack of amenities and the possibility of spotty cell service. For those seeking a tranquil escape into nature with the essentials brought along, the Town of KICCO Campsite presents a great spot to disconnect and enjoy the natural beauty of Florida's wilderness.

Beautiful campground, out of the grid. There is a calm river next to the campground, nice spot to fish. There are many trails to hike. Plenty of space to camp. It's a primitive campground, so take water and the essentials.
Jan 02, 2024 · Adriano FlechillaGreat spot! Primitive camping, RVs ok. Free reservation made online. No amenities cell service is spotty. I will certainly come back. Beautiful slow drive in about 9 miles on a dirt road past River ranch. Great spot right on the Kissimmee river
Feb 13, 2024 · Carmen ManninoGreat campground with a few spots right on the water. The water was right outside our 40' class A. Great trails for biking. Alligators nearby so watch your small pets. A couple spots have fire rings and grills. The road has a small section of bumpy wash board dirt road but the rest is decent. It is several miles from gate to campground. No water, electric, or dump stations. 2 bars 4 G with at&t cell service, can stream video.
Feb 13, 2021 · Adrienne YoungJust what we expected. It is very remote and quite a long drive back to the camping area, but we loved the quite secluded dry camping. Saw many alligators and enjoyed riding bikes on the dirt roads.
Mar 28, 2022 · Suzie EllingsonEntrace to the WMA is via the River Ranch resort entrance. Then frist right immediately after the Tee-Pee rooms. Area is working land with cattle and honey bees. Town of Kicco campsite is nice and it is furthest from entrance. But because it allows RV and larger travel trailers you get big(er) crowds on the weekends. Due to the big crowds there is more of a mess from left behind gear and trash.Great dark nights with bright stars, and lots of wildlife.
