Trailer Island Campground Introduce
For local users in the Fox Lake, Wisconsin area searching for "camping near me" with a different kind of outdoor experience, Trailer Island Campground, now known as 'Island Park' and located at N10526 Oaks Rd, Fox Lake, WI 53933, USA, presents a unique option. This campground, under the new ownership and management of the son of the original owners, offers a distinct atmosphere that prioritizes privacy and quiet, appealing to a specific segment of the local camping community.
The environment of Trailer Island Campground, or Island Park, appears to be characterized by a more secluded and less amenity-focused setting. One long-term camper describes it as offering "privacy, quiet," and a "funky friendly 'neighborhood'." This suggests a more laid-back and perhaps less structured camping experience compared to campgrounds with extensive facilities and organized activities. While the name implies a proximity to water, with Fox Lake nearby, one review notes that the "lake seems all fished out." Local users interested in fishing as a primary activity might want to consider this feedback and explore other fishing opportunities in the Fox Lake area.
In terms of services and features, Trailer Island Campground seems to offer a more basic camping experience. The long-term camper explicitly states, "those seeking 'amenities' should look elsewhere." This suggests that the campground might not have an extensive list of modern facilities often found at more developed campgrounds. While specific amenities are not detailed, it's reasonable to assume the presence of essential services such as water hookups, electrical hookups, and waste disposal, given its history as a place for trailers. However, the level and quality of these services may be more rudimentary. The mention of a "dumpsters" area in one review, near which a black bear was reportedly sighted some years ago, provides a glimpse into the more natural and perhaps less manicured aspects of the property.
The recent change in ownership and management is a significant aspect for local users to consider. According to a long-term camper, the new owner, the son of the original owners, "has made many improvements and keeps up the property to a good standard." This indicates a positive trend in the maintenance and upkeep of the campground. While the focus might not be on adding extensive amenities, the commitment to maintaining a good standard suggests a more pleasant and well-cared-for environment for campers.
The character of Trailer Island Campground, or Island Park, seems to lean towards a more permanent or long-term community feel, as highlighted by the "80's trailer park" comparison in one review and the mention of a "funky friendly 'neighborhood'" by another. This might appeal to local users seeking a quiet and private spot with a sense of community among longer-term residents. However, it's important for prospective short-term campers to understand this dynamic, as it might differ from the typical weekend campground atmosphere.
The review mentioning the black bear sighting, while described as "exciting," also serves as a reminder of the campground's natural surroundings and the potential for wildlife encounters. Local users should be aware of this aspect and take appropriate precautions regarding food storage and safety, as they would in any natural environment.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the given text. However, the positive feedback from the long-term camper, who intends to continue enjoying the campground every season, serves as a form of endorsement for those seeking a quiet and private experience. For local users who prioritize these aspects over extensive amenities, Trailer Island Campground (Island Park) might be an appealing option. To learn more about current rates, availability, and the specific improvements made under the new ownership, it is recommended to contact the campground directly at (920) 928-3505 or mobile phone at +1 920-928-3505.
In summary, Trailer Island Campground, now known as Island Park, offers a unique camping experience in Fox Lake, WI, that emphasizes privacy and quiet over extensive amenities. Under new management, the property is reportedly being maintained to a good standard. While it might resemble an older trailer park in some aspects and the nearby lake may not be ideal for fishing, its appeal lies in its peaceful atmosphere and friendly, long-term community. For local users searching for "camping near me" who value a more secluded and less structured environment, Trailer Island Campground (Island Park) is worth considering. Contact them directly to get the most up-to-date information and determine if it aligns with your camping preferences.

Trailer Island Campground Reviews
I've had my trailer at what is now called 'Island Park' for 4 years. It has recently come under the ownership and management of the son of the original owners. He has made many improvements and keeps up the property to a good standard. It may not be for everyone, those seeking 'amenities' should look elsewhere. We, however, really enjoy the privacy, quiet and funky friendly 'neighborhood'. It's exactly what we want and will continue to enjoy every season.
Nov 16, 2017 · LittleHand PerkinsLake seems all fished out. Campground isn't really a campground. It's more like a 80's trailer park. A few years ago there was a black bear sighting near the dumpsters. How exciting.
Apr 26, 2022 · Betty Vanderhooven-SchmaaSchmaaThis is not a campground. They charge you money for amenities that may have been functional but still terrible 20 years ago but are now disgusting.
May 29, 2012 · Taylor JacobsonThe owner was abusive and offensive to my 13 year old son and I he seems very angry and I would not trust him around young kids.
May 10, 2018 · Fighting The FishUnless you want a seasonal site surrounded by cattails on a dead end road pass it by.20 trailers on 1acre, no amenities.
