Trailriders Campground - Harrison State Forest Introduce
For local users in Ohio seeking a "camping near me" experience that combines a natural setting with opportunities for outdoor activities, Trailriders Campground - Harrison State Forest, located at 85250 Camp Rd in Cadiz, OH 43907, USA, offers a potentially attractive option. Situated within the expansive Harrison State Forest, this campground provides access to a lovely area known for its natural beauty and, notably, public hunting.
The environment surrounding Trailriders Campground is described by one reviewer as "truly a lovely area," suggesting that campers can expect to be immersed in the natural beauty of Harrison State Forest. This state forest is known for its rolling hills, woodlands, and diverse wildlife, offering a scenic backdrop for a camping getaway. The presence of two ponds within the campground area adds to the natural charm and may provide opportunities for fishing or simply enjoying the waterside scenery. For those who appreciate being surrounded by nature and enjoy activities such as hiking and wildlife viewing, the location within Harrison State Forest is a significant advantage. Additionally, one reviewer specifically mentioned the availability of "public hunting," indicating that the campground caters to hunters, particularly deer hunters based on the "🦌" emoji used. This feature makes it a unique destination for local hunting enthusiasts looking for convenient accommodation near hunting grounds.
In terms of services and features, the information available is somewhat limited and includes both positive and negative aspects based on the provided reviews. One positive mention is that it's considered a "nice campground for a weekend getaway," suggesting that it is equipped to accommodate short-term visitors seeking a brief escape into nature. However, one reviewer experienced significant issues with cell phone reception, noting that they had no service with AT&T and only found a signal about halfway up a hill behind one of the ponds. This lack of reliable cell service could be a consideration for those who need to stay connected or rely on their phones for navigation or emergencies. The same reviewer also reported feeling uneasy due to multiple vehicles stopping and shining flashlights at their van during the night, prompting them to leave early. While this could be an isolated incident, it raises a potential concern about security or the behavior of other individuals in the area. The reviewer also mentioned having to fill out cards to place in their window, which they felt might inadvertently alert others to their presence. This is a procedural aspect of the campground that potential visitors should be aware of.
A crucial piece of advice from one reviewer is to "use deep woods spray many ticks," indicating that ticks are prevalent in the area. This highlights the importance of taking necessary precautions against insect bites when camping at Trailriders Campground, particularly during warmer months. Campers should come prepared with appropriate insect repellent and take measures to protect themselves and their pets from ticks.
While one reviewer found the campground to be a "nice campground for a weekend getaway" and highlighted the public hunting aspect, the other review paints a less positive picture regarding security and cell service. The discrepancy in these experiences suggests that individual stays can vary, and potential visitors should consider both perspectives. The mention of public hunting is a specific feature that caters to a particular user group, making it a draw for local hunters. However, the reported security concerns and lack of cell service might be deterrents for other campers.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. Local users interested in Trailriders Campground - Harrison State Forest would need to contact them directly via phone at (877) 247-8733 or +1 877-247-8733 to inquire about pricing, availability, specific amenities (such as restrooms, water sources, or campsite features), and any current promotions or seasonal rates. Given the mention of public hunting, it would be beneficial for hunters to ask about any specific regulations or facilities related to hunting within or near the campground. Additionally, it would be wise to inquire about cell phone service availability in different areas of the campground to be prepared. Due to the security concerns raised in one review, it might also be prudent to ask about campground security measures.
In conclusion, Trailriders Campground - Harrison State Forest offers a potentially attractive "camping near me" option for local users, particularly those interested in public hunting within the scenic Harrison State Forest. The natural environment is described as lovely, and the presence of ponds adds to the appeal. However, potential visitors should be aware of the reported issues with limited cell phone reception and the need for strong insect repellent due to ticks. The security concerns raised by one reviewer are also something to consider. For those primarily interested in hunting or a basic weekend getaway in a natural setting and who come prepared for potential limitations, Trailriders Campground could be suitable. However, it is strongly recommended to contact the campground directly for detailed information about amenities, pricing, booking procedures, cell service availability, and any safety guidelines to ensure it meets individual needs and expectations for a camping experience in Harrison State Forest.

Trailriders Campground - Harrison State Forest Reviews
It’s a nice campground for a weekend getaway also they had public hunting 🦌
Dec 08, 2024 · Sang VongI would like to start out by saying that this is truly a lovely area. I have AT&T and had no reception. I climbed the hill that is behind the pond and about half way up I got service. I camped alone with my dog. I woke up several times from several vehicles that stopped in front of my sight and shined flash lights in my van. They couldn’t see me because I had curtains up and I use a UV coating to keep anyone from seeing in. I left the sight at 12:30 in the morning and drove home. The cards you have to fill out and put in your window really alerts the people that are curious as to how many are present. Use deep woods spray many ticks.there are 2 ponds. I didn’t get a bite.
May 09, 2022 · Yvette KnaufIt's a nice campground for a weekend getaway. Secluded and peaceful, there are trails to bring your horses and ride them.
Oct 23, 2022 · Vince AFor a FREE campground there isn’t much to complain about. I’d like to see better bathrooms installed and more signs to each part of the park with donations. Great for small campers, horses/trailers and primitive camping.
Sep 16, 2019 · Gab SkeenI had read that there were around 14 spots for campers but when we arrived, there only appeared to be 3 total and two of them were occupied. The area was very nice and the bathroom was clean and adequately stocked. Since all of the spots were very close by, there was quite a bit of noise from the folks next door with their generator. Even in the dark, the campground was very easy to find
