Trailside Campground

43293 MN-16, Rushford Village, MN 55971, USA

3.0
Don’t bother calling to inquire about a permanent site if you do not have a brand new fifth wheel. Owner expects top of the line campers but offers poor accommodations. Needs to add more to the property to make it more pleasing to the eye.Not much has been added to this property since opening. One shower and one toilet available (not the greatest condition…but it is a campground after all). One pavilion. And a toddler playground. If you are ONLY looking for easy access to the Root River Trail, this is a great spot. But the campground itself is NOT great. Owner is unprofessional and terrible at communication. - Katie Fuller

Trailside Campground Introduce

For those in search of "camping near me" in the Rushford Village, Minnesota area, particularly if direct access to the Root River Trail is a priority, Trailside Campground, located at 43293 MN-16, Rushford Village, MN 55971, USA, presents a location to consider. This campground's primary feature, as its name suggests, is its proximity to the well-regarded Root River Trail, making it a potentially attractive base for cyclists, hikers, and nature enthusiasts looking to explore this scenic route.

The environment of Trailside Campground is characterized by its easy access to the Root River Trail. This offers campers immediate opportunities for recreational activities such as biking, walking, and enjoying the natural beauty of the Root River Valley. One positive review highlights the spaciousness of the campsites, suggesting that there is ample room to set up and enjoy your camping area. However, another review notes that the property itself may lack significant aesthetic enhancements and additions since its opening, which could impact the overall visual appeal of the campground.

In terms of services and features, feedback from recent visitors presents a mixed picture. On the positive side, the campground offers a pavilion, which could serve as a communal gathering space or shelter. For families with young children, there is a toddler playground available. The availability of permanent sites is also mentioned, though with a caveat regarding the owner's preference for "brand new fifth wheel" campers, potentially limiting options for those with older or different types of RVs. Basic amenities include one shower and one toilet, which, according to one review, may not be in the greatest condition, although the reviewer acknowledges that this is not uncommon for campgrounds.

However, several concerns have been raised regarding the management and communication at Trailside Campground. One reviewer described the owner as "unprofessional and terrible at communication." This is a significant point for potential campers who value clear and helpful interactions with campground management. Another negative review echoed this sentiment, suggesting that inquiries about permanent sites might be met with a bias towards newer, specific types of campers. This could indicate a potential lack of inclusivity or flexibility in accommodating different camping setups.

The limited number of amenities is another feature to consider. With only one shower and one toilet serving the entire campground, potential for waiting times, especially during peak seasons, might exist. The lack of significant additions to the property since its opening, as mentioned by one reviewer, could also mean that the range of on-site facilities and activities is somewhat restricted compared to other campgrounds in the area. While the focus appears to be primarily on providing access to the Root River Trail, those seeking a campground with a wider array of amenities might find Trailside Campground lacking.

Despite the criticisms, one reviewer expressed an "absolute love" for the place, citing the spacious sites and the "great atmosphere overall," also commending the management. This contrasting positive feedback suggests that experiences at Trailside Campground can vary, and perhaps some visitors find the focus on trail access and spaciousness to outweigh the limitations in amenities or potential communication issues. It's possible that the atmosphere and the efforts of the staff (as perceived by the positive reviewer) contribute to a pleasant stay for some.

Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. However, the implicit promotion is the campground's prime location for accessing the Root River Trail. For individuals or groups whose primary interest is to utilize the trail for recreational purposes, the convenience of staying at Trailside Campground could be a significant draw. The spacious campsites might also be considered a promotional point for those who value extra room and a less crowded feel.

In conclusion, Trailside Campground offers a key advantage for those specifically seeking immediate access to the Root River Trail in Rushford Village, MN. The spacious campsites are another potential benefit. However, potential visitors should be aware of the reported limitations in the number and condition of amenities, as well as concerns raised about the professionalism and communication of the owner. The preference for newer fifth wheel campers for permanent sites might also be a factor for some. While one reviewer had a very positive experience, the presence of negative feedback regarding service and the condition/quantity of facilities suggests that it would be wise to weigh these factors carefully based on your individual needs and priorities for a "camping near me" experience. If your main focus is the Root River Trail and spacious sites are appealing, Trailside Campground is worth considering, but it may be prudent to manage expectations regarding on-site amenities and potential interactions with management.
