Situated directly on the banks of the scenic Umpqua River, this campground offers a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in nature and enjoy a relaxing outdoor experience. For local users seeking a serene and well-kept camping spot, Tyee Campground stands out as a prime choice within the 'camping near me' category.
Environment and Location:
Tyee Campground boasts a truly enviable environment. Imagine waking up to the soothing sounds of the Umpqua River flowing gently beside you, with breathtaking views right from your campsite. The campground is described by visitors as "forested," indicating a setting rich with trees that provide shade and a sense of natural tranquility. This lush environment creates a peaceful ambiance, perfect for unwinding and escaping the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The direct access to the river is a significant highlight, offering opportunities for various water-related activities and simply enjoying the picturesque scenery.
Services and Facilities:
Based on customer feedback, Tyee Campground prioritizes cleanliness and maintenance. The presence of "well-maintained, clean vault toilets" is consistently mentioned, a crucial aspect for any comfortable camping experience. One reviewer specifically noted that the vault toilets "didn’t smell like death and had sanitizer," highlighting a commitment to hygiene that many campers appreciate. This attention to basic amenities ensures a more pleasant and worry-free stay.
Features and Highlights:
The standout feature of Tyee Campground is undoubtedly its location right on the Umpqua River. This provides campers with immediate access to the river for fishing, swimming (depending on conditions), or simply enjoying the waterfront. The "fabulous views" mentioned in a review suggest that the scenery is a major draw, offering opportunities for stunning photographs and moments of peaceful contemplation. Additionally, some campsites are reported to have "paths that go directly down to the river," enhancing the convenience and accessibility of the waterfront experience.
It's important to note a crucial piece of information from a visitor: "heads up no cell service." This lack of cellular connectivity can be both a blessing and a consideration. For those looking to truly disconnect and immerse themselves in nature, the absence of cell service can enhance the feeling of escape. However, for others who need to stay connected, this is a vital factor to be aware of before planning their trip. It's advisable to make any necessary communication arrangements prior to arriving at the campground.
Another point raised by a reviewer is the noise from "the road across the river," particularly in the morning. While acknowledged as being "out of everyone’s control," potential campers should be aware that some ambient noise from nearby infrastructure might be present. However, the overwhelmingly positive comments regarding the campground's beauty and cleanliness suggest that these drawbacks are often outweighed by the overall positive experience.

May 25, 2024 · Hilary SBeautiful little campground. Some great sites. Host is very nice and they have the best smelling pit toilets I've ever used! Will definitely be going out again!! And we live less then 30 minutes away!
Jul 09, 2021 · Sarina Rosenice set up and fairly convenient if you are traveling south to coos bay. great campsite set up very flat plenty of room for two tents - but here is the drawback ( HWY 138 is about 200-300 yards away just across the river and there is a large saw mill where log trucks are very active on this rd AT ALL HOURS a lot of compression braking heading in to the turns there rolling and booming through the river canyon)
