Location and Environment: Upper Coffeepot Campground boasts a prime location that caters to a variety of outdoor enthusiasts. The campground is positioned alongside a beautiful river, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere. The surrounding environment is characterized by the natural landscapes of Island Park, offering campers a chance to immerse themselves in Idaho's stunning scenery. The presence of a river adds a dynamic element to the campground, providing opportunities for various water-based activities and enhancing the overall appeal of the location.
Services and Amenities: One of the notable features of Upper Coffeepot Campground is the availability of electrical hookups at some campsites. This is a significant convenience for campers who rely on electricity for their recreational vehicles or other electronic devices, making it a sought-after amenity for many. Additionally, the campground provides water valves that are evenly dispersed throughout the area, ensuring relatively easy access to water for campers at different sites. While the restrooms are drop-down style, recent emptying suggests an effort to maintain cleanliness, which is an important consideration for camper comfort.
Features and Activities: Upper Coffeepot Campground is particularly appealing to those interested in river-related activities. The campground provides a dedicated parking lot for fishermen, indicating its popularity among anglers looking to enjoy the river. Furthermore, there is a designated exit point for kayakers, paddleboarders, and floaters, highlighting the campground's accessibility for these water sports. The river itself is described as beautiful, although it's important to note that leeches have been reported. Campers interested in kayaking or paddleboarding should be aware of the requirement for an Idaho invasive species permit, as mentioned by a visitor who was unable to launch their kayak without one. For those who prefer to stay on land, a trail runs along the river, offering opportunities for leisurely walks and enjoying the scenic views.
Things to Consider: Based on customer reviews, it's important for prospective campers to be aware of the campground's popularity and the potential for high traffic, especially during peak seasons and weekends. The campground operates on a "first come, first serve" basis for sites with electrical hookups, which can lead to competition for available spots. Visitors have reported that the campground can get extremely busy, with people arriving throughout the day in search of campsites. Some have even experienced others inquiring about their departure times, indicating the high demand. The central location of the river access points within the campground contributes to the bustling atmosphere, as people getting out of the river often pass through the camping areas.
Promotional Information and Local Appeal: For local users searching for "camping near me," Upper Coffeepot Campground presents an attractive option due to its proximity and the range of activities it supports. The combination of electrical hookups, river access for fishing and water sports, and the natural beauty of Island Park makes it a compelling choice for weekend getaways or short camping trips. The campground's appeal is further enhanced by the presence of a riverside trail for those who enjoy walking and nature observation. While the "first come, first serve" policy necessitates arriving early, especially during busy periods, the potential for a lovely stay in a scenic location makes the effort worthwhile.
The five-day stay limit suggests that the campground is geared towards shorter visits, making it ideal for weekend campers or those on a brief outdoor excursion. The mention of relatively clean campsites is a positive aspect, contributing to a more enjoyable camping experience. The availability of water valves throughout the campground adds a practical element that enhances camper convenience.
In summary, Upper Coffeepot Campground offers a blend of natural beauty and essential amenities that cater to a variety of camping preferences. Its location near the river makes it a hub for fishing and water sports enthusiasts, while the availability of electrical hookups provides added comfort for RV campers. Local users searching for "camping near me" will find this campground to be a conveniently located option for experiencing the outdoors. However, potential visitors should be prepared for the campground's popularity, especially during peak times, and plan their arrival accordingly to secure a site. Despite the potential for crowds, the positive reviews highlighting the lovely location and the convenience of the amenities suggest that Upper Coffeepot Campground remains a desirable destination for those seeking a camping adventure in the Island Park area.

Upper Coffeepot Campground Reviews
First come first serve with electrical hookups. Boy does this campground get a lot of traffic. There is a parking lot for fisherman, and an exit for all the kayakers, paddleboarders, and floaters. The stay limit is 5 days. The river is beautiful but has leeches. The sites were relatively clean. There were water valves evenly dispersed through out the campground. Restrooms are drop down, and recently emptied so they don't smell that bad yet.The campground was extremely busy. People came and went all day looking for spots. We even had people knock asking when we were leaving. So keep that in mind. That combined with everybody getting out of the river in the middle of the campground made it so busy.
Jul 28, 2023 · A PlusWe stayed just one night, but it was the most lovely spot we stayed in our 2000 mile drive trip. We arrived in the late afternoon and there were several spots to choose from, but I expect it could be harder earlier in the summer or on a weekend. There's a trail along the river. I didn't take a chance on putting my kayak in since I didn't have the required Idaho invasive species permit, but I wanted to!
Sep 12, 2023 · Patty Kadelvery beautiful campground. Only has 16 sites and very clean and quiet. I had site #6 and used a tent. there is no power outlet on this site #. I was less than 100 feet from the Henry river. I camped in The end of July and there were very few bugs. I didn't use my bug spray. Camp Hosts keep the bathroom very clean. Its a out house with no sink but had hand sanitizer every day. It s About 25 miles to yellowstone.
Aug 08, 2018 · ruebenrocksLovely. Quiet. Secluded. Next to a shallow but quickly moving river. We were lucky that they had an opening because it appears they are usually booked far in advance. It would be wise to call ahead as the road getting here is mediocre to poor and I wouldn't want to make the drive just to find out there are no openings.
Jun 26, 2019 · LaDonna WilesBad experience with Park Host but the peacefulness was wonderful. Spent time with my mom her first time camping had a wonderful time bonding.
