Ventura Ranch KOA Holiday Introduce
For our local users in Singapore exploring the 'Camping Near Me' category, let's take a virtual trip to Ventura Ranch KOA Holiday, located near Santa Paula, California, USA. This campground offers a unique blend of natural beauty and a wide array of recreational activities, particularly geared towards families with children. Understanding the features and environment of such a holiday-style campground provides valuable insight into the diverse range of options available under the 'Camping Near Me' umbrella globally, especially for those seeking a more amenity-rich camping experience.
Ventura Ranch KOA Holiday, situated at 7400 Pine Grove Rd, Santa Paula, CA 93060, USA, is described by visitors as a "great place to take kids." This immediately highlights its focus on providing a family-friendly environment with numerous activities designed to entertain and engage children. The campground boasts an impressive list of on-site attractions, including zip lines, a swimming pool, a climbing rock, and a maze. These features offer ample opportunities for active recreation and fun for children of various ages, making it a compelling option for families looking for a camping getaway with built-in entertainment.
Beyond the immediate campground amenities, Ventura Ranch KOA Holiday also benefits from its location, which offers access to "lots of local hiking." This suggests that while the campground itself is activity-rich, it also serves as a base for exploring the natural beauty of the surrounding Santa Paula region through hiking trails. This blend of on-site entertainment and access to off-site natural exploration provides a well-rounded experience for families and outdoor enthusiasts alike.
However, the reviews also mention a notable environmental factor: the presence of peacocks. While the birds are described as "pretty," they are also noted for being "very loud" and starting their vocalizations "early in the morning." Additionally, one reviewer mentioned "peacock noise, and poop" as a downside. This is an important consideration for potential visitors, particularly those sensitive to noise or concerned about animal droppings in the camping areas. While some might find the peacocks charming, their noise level could be a significant factor for others seeking a quiet and peaceful camping experience.
Despite the potential nuisance of the peacocks, one reviewer concludes that it is a "minor nuisance compared with the beauty and optional things to do at this KOA." This suggests that the overall positive aspects of the campground, particularly its beauty and the range of activities available, outweigh the negative impact of the peacocks for many visitors.
Another reviewer notes that the location is "a bit off the beaten path, and the drive in seems like you will end up on a dead end road." However, they also point out that it is "dark and quiet at night," which could be a significant advantage for those seeking a peaceful night's sleep away from the noise of more centrally located campgrounds or urban areas. The initial impression of being remote might be a trade-off for a quieter nighttime environment.
Expanding on the activities available, another review mentions a "river, jump pad, bmx track, labyrinth, etc." This further illustrates the extensive range of recreational options catering to different interests and age groups. The inclusion of a river suggests potential for water-related activities (though safety and accessibility would need to be verified), while the jump pad, bmx track, and labyrinth add to the diverse entertainment offerings.
Regarding the suitability for different types of camping, one reviewer offers specific advice for RVers: "As an RV park, it is not big rig friendly. Better suited to vans and class C campers. Better yet, tent camp here." This is crucial information for those traveling with larger recreational vehicles. The campground appears to be better designed for smaller RVs or, ideally, for tent camping. This might be due to the size and layout of the campsites or the maneuverability within the campground roads.
In summary, Ventura Ranch KOA Holiday offers a family-oriented camping experience near Santa Paula, California, with a wide array of activities for children, including zip lines, a pool, a climbing rock, a maze, a jump pad, a bmx track, and a labyrinth. It also provides access to local hiking trails. The environment is described as beautiful, although the presence of loud peacocks and their droppings is a noted downside. The campground is somewhat off the beaten path, offering a quiet night environment, and is best suited for tent camping or smaller RVs (vans and class C campers), not being particularly "big rig friendly."
As a KOA (Kampgrounds of America) campground, it is likely to offer a range of services and amenities typical of KOA Holiday locations. These often include well-maintained restrooms and showers, laundry facilities, a camp store, Wi-Fi access (though availability and quality can vary), and potentially planned activities or events in addition to the recreational facilities already mentioned. KOA campgrounds often have different tiers (Journey, Holiday, Resort), with Holiday locations typically offering a broader range of amenities and activities, aligning with the descriptions provided in the reviews.
While the reviews do not explicitly mention promotional offers, KOA campgrounds often have various promotions, discounts for KOA Rewards members, and seasonal specials. Interested users would likely find such information on the official KOA website or by contacting Ventura Ranch KOA Holiday directly.

May 04, 2025 · Scott BehanNice location and great activities for the kids. The river, jump pad, bmx track, labyrinth, etc. As an RV park, it is not big rig friendly. Better suited to vans and class C campers. Better yet, tent camp here. Also, there are loads of peacocks and they are LOUD!
May 04, 2025 · Brian JOne of the best campgrounds I've stayed at!! This campground is absolutely STUNNING! There are so many activities: Ziplines, Labyrinth, Jumping Pillow, Pool, Hikes etc. Such a great campground for all ages. We stayed in a cabin which was a great experience. The Teepees and Wagons also look like great options! Will definitely be back!
Feb 27, 2025 · Kathryn SabaWe’re a full time RV family with 2 kids and we’ve seen a lot of different campgrounds including other KOAs. This is by far the worst campground we’ve stayed at. Bottom line is that the ownership doesn’t care about what they need to care about and it shows. It’s way understaffed for such a large property with a bunch of amenities to maintain. The jumping pillow, dirt bike track, labyrinth, and zip line course were good features, but that’s about it. Bathroom stalls and showers all had lock issues. Our campsite was full of litter when we checked in. Water got turned off on us at one point without any communication to guests. There is unburied electrical conduit and other hazards just completely unattended to. The staff was nice but clearly had their hands tied by ownership to really make a difference. It’s too bad because it could really be something special and it’s got great access to hiking, Ojai, and Ventura.
Jan 26, 2025 · Jeremiah AdamsDO NOT STAY HERE!If camping, give this place a miss. The whole property and facilities are run down, in need of cleaning and repair. It is a large campground, and the camping bathroom facilities were some of the worst of our 3-month trip. The toilet stalls did not lock, the floor was uneven with broken tiles. The showers did not work. The restrooms did not appear to be cleaned for the two nights we were there, with the same dead bugs in the basins and dust and dirt everywhere. We ended up driving to a completely different part of use a functional washroom (near RVs).The water for washing/cooking was not available. There was no sink for camp dishes. The gravel pad was in rough shape and not level for a tent. There was no wifi (apparently not restored after a landslide a while back, even though phone lines and office wifi clearly functional) and still advertised on the website. The whole place is run down and overpriced. The owner clearly doesn’t care. When we attempted to feedback at the office we were told there was nothing that could be done and to complain to corporate. So, again, if camping, find somewhere else.
