Located in the scenic region of Southern California, with the specific address being Rose Valley Lake Rd, Ojai, CA 93023, USA, this campground appears to be particularly renowned for its proximity to the popular Rose Valley Falls Trail, attracting both casual visitors and those looking to camp in the area. The provided phone numbers, (805) 434-1996 and +1 805-434-1996, offer a direct line for inquiries and reservations.
Based on the available customer reviews, a primary feature and significant draw of the Rose Valley area, directly accessible from or associated with the campground, is the Rose Valley Falls Trail. This trail is described as a "very easy short hike to the best waterfall in southern California," making it an appealing destination for a wide range of individuals, including families and those new to hiking. One reviewer even equates the difficulty to a "1" on a scale of 1 to 5, further clarifying it as "more like a 15 min walk than a hike, one way." This ease of access to a notable natural attraction is a significant advantage for Rose Valley Campground, offering a readily available outdoor activity for campers.
The hike to Rose Valley Falls is not without its considerations, however. Reviewers mention the presence of "two streams you need to cross," which could pose a challenge for individuals with mobility issues, particularly the elderly. It is noted that with assistance, it might still be manageable for those who can walk without a walker. This information is valuable for potential campers to assess their ability to navigate the terrain and plan accordingly, perhaps bringing a companion for support if needed. Despite this minor challenge, the overall sentiment regarding the trail is overwhelmingly positive, with one visitor stating they "loved it!" and describing it as a "great little hike with some awesome views." The recommendation to check out the trail underscores its appeal as a key feature associated with Rose Valley Campground.
Beyond the hiking experience, one reviewer specifically "saw little designated campsites that I later found out you can reserve." This confirms that Rose Valley Campground offers designated camping areas, suggesting a level of organization and potentially regulated use. The fact that these campsites are reservable is an important piece of information for local users planning an overnight stay. Reservations typically ensure a guaranteed spot, especially during peak seasons or weekends, providing peace of mind for campers. Potential visitors should contact the campground using the provided phone numbers to inquire about the reservation process, availability, and any associated fees.
While the reviews primarily focus on the hiking trail and the presence of campsites, they offer some insights into the environment surrounding Rose Valley Campground. The mention of a waterfall and streams indicates a natural setting with water features, which often contribute to a pleasant and scenic camping environment. The ease of the hike also suggests that the terrain around the campground might be relatively gentle and accessible. However, specific details about the types of vegetation, the proximity to Rose Valley Lake (mentioned in the address), or the overall ambiance of the campground itself are not extensively covered in these brief reviews.
The services and features of Rose Valley Campground can be inferred to some extent from the mention of "designated campsites" and the ability to reserve them. This suggests that the campground likely provides basic infrastructure for camping, such as designated areas for tents or possibly small RVs (though this is not explicitly stated). The presence of a well-maintained trail leading to a significant natural attraction like Rose Valley Falls implies that the area is likely managed and maintained to some degree. However, information regarding specific amenities like restrooms, water sources, fire pits, picnic tables, or waste disposal facilities is not available in the provided reviews. Potential campers should inquire about these essential services when contacting the campground.
Promotional information, in the traditional sense, is limited in the provided reviews. However, the enthusiastic descriptions of the Rose Valley Falls Trail – "best waterfall in southern California," "great little hike with some awesome views" – serve as strong endorsements for the area and, by extension, for Rose Valley Campground as a convenient base for exploring this natural attraction. The ease of the hike is a significant selling point for those seeking outdoor adventure without strenuous activity. The opportunity to reserve campsites adds another layer of appeal for those planning an overnight stay and wanting a guaranteed spot in this seemingly popular area.
For local users in Southern California, particularly those in or around Ventura County and the Ojai region, Rose Valley Campground offers a compelling option for a quick nature escape. The easy access to the stunning Rose Valley Falls via a short and scenic trail is a major draw. The availability of reservable designated campsites caters to those wishing to extend their visit and immerse themselves further in the natural beauty of the area. While the reviews highlight the hiking experience, the presence of a campground suggests additional opportunities for outdoor recreation and relaxation.
To gain a more comprehensive understanding of Rose Valley Campground, local users are encouraged to contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers. Inquiries should focus on the specifics of the campsites (e.g., size, type, hook-ups if any), the amenities available (e.g., restrooms, water, fire pits), the reservation process and fees, and any specific rules or regulations for campers. Additionally, asking about the proximity and accessibility of Rose Valley Lake, mentioned in the address, could provide further insight into the recreational opportunities available in the vicinity.
In conclusion, Rose Valley Campground in Ojai, CA, appears to be a noteworthy destination for local users seeking a camping experience with easy access to the beautiful Rose Valley Falls. The positive reviews of the hiking trail and the availability of reservable campsites suggest a well-regarded area for outdoor recreation. However, potential campers should contact the campground directly to obtain detailed information about the specific amenities and services offered to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay within this scenic part of Southern California.

Rose Valley Campground Reviews
Very easy short hike to the best waterfall in southern California. I always jump at the chance to share this place with a new friend. On a scale of 1 to 5 for hike difficulty I would score it at a 1. It's more like a 15 min walk than a hike, one way. There are two streams you need to cross that could be difficult for an elderly person but with a helper it should be manageable if you can walk without a walker.

Jan 23, 2024 · Jose NavarroRose valley campground is a great spot to spend some nights and hike, the waterfall is the main attraction and is only about 10 min walk from the parking lot, very easy to do.Don’t forget to pay your dues, the campground manager checks often if everything is in order. There is no shade in this campground, bring tarps, summer months gets lots of sun and some insects that look like flies or gnats are around. There is only one site that offers tree shade but is easily taken, coveted by many.Latrine style bathrooms availableAugust 2019$20 per night$10 day use
Aug 09, 2019 · Sam HBeautiful hiking trails, I thoroughly enjoyed the trek to Rose Valley Falls. It's not a particularly difficult hike, and the reward is well worth it. It feels almost magical.
Jun 12, 2019 · Kaiden W.Super tiny campground with one vault toilet that gets very used with all the hikers coming through. It's quiet and peaceful at night but lots of foot traffic during the day with people looking for the trails. There isn't any shade coverage so be prepared to bring easy ups if you want shade.
