Visalia / Sequoia National Park KOA Journey Introduce
For travelers exploring California's Central Valley or embarking on an adventure to the magnificent Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, the Visalia / Sequoia National Park KOA Journey offers a convenient and amenity-rich stop. Located at 7480 Avenue 308, Visalia, CA 93291, USA, this campground is a prime destination for anyone searching for "Camping Near Me" or "RV Parks Near Me," providing a comfortable base for both overnight stays and extended explorations.
The Visalia / Sequoia National Park KOA Journey is situated just off Highway 99, making it easily accessible for travelers traversing California. As a "KOA Journey" campground, its design prioritizes convenience for road-weary travelers, offering easy-access pull-through RV sites. The park features a mix of grassy, shaded pull-through RV sites, gravel pads, and separate grassy areas for tent camping. This blend of site types caters to a wide range of camping preferences, from large RVs to traditional tent campers.
While located in Visalia, a city in the agricultural heart of the Central Valley, the campground strives to create a pleasant environment. The grounds are generally described as "well kept up" and "immaculate," with "grass spots with shade" and "nice long pull thru sites with trees." This attention to landscaping helps create a more natural and inviting atmosphere despite its proximity to urban and agricultural areas. The park is a family-friendly establishment, suggesting an environment conducive to relaxation and outdoor activities for all ages. However, as with any campground, the experience can vary, and one isolated review mentioned an unusual individual in the park, which is not typical of the overall KOA brand or the majority of reviews which praise the park's quiet and peaceful nature.
As a KOA Journey, the Visalia / Sequoia National Park KOA is equipped with a comprehensive suite of services and amenities designed to enhance the camping experience.
- Full Hookup RV Sites: The park offers pull-through RV sites with 50-amp electrical service, along with water and sewer connections. These sites can accommodate RVs up to 70 feet in length, making them suitable for even the largest rigs. Each RV site includes a table and a fire ring, allowing for traditional campfire experiences.

These cabins come with air-conditioning and heating, providing comfortable accommodations.
- Restrooms and Showers: A key highlight for many guests is the cleanliness of the facilities. Reviews frequently praise the "spotless" and "very clean" bathrooms and showers, indicating high standards of hygiene. The laundry room is also noted as being well-maintained and is open 24 hours a day, utilizing the PayRange app for charges.
- Swimming Pool: A seasonal swimming pool is available for guest use, typically open from May 1st through September 30th, from 9:30 AM to 9:00 PM. This is a popular amenity, especially during warm Central Valley summers.

- General Store: A convenient on-site store/gift shop sells firewood, propane, and various camping necessities. One review specifically noted the store as "good" and praised an employee who went "above and beyond" to provide a spare battery for an RV remote control, highlighting exceptional customer service.
- Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi access is available throughout the campground, allowing guests to stay connected, though like many campgrounds, signal strength can vary.
- Recreational Activities: Beyond the pool and dog park, the KOA offers amenities like a playground for smaller children, cornhole boards, and horseshoes. A recreation room is also available for family reunions or group events.
- Free Morning Coffee: The campground offers free coffee or tea in the office each morning, a thoughtful touch for departing campers.
The staff and owners, including individuals like Dale and the team mentioned in recent reviews, consistently receive high praise for being "friendly and helpful," "accommodating," and providing "great service." This positive interaction with staff significantly contributes to the overall pleasant experience reported by many campers.
The Visalia / Sequoia National Park KOA Journey's strategic location and diverse offerings make it a valuable feature for travelers.

The parks are located less than 40 miles away, making the KOA a convenient base for day trips to explore these natural wonders.

- Local Visalia Attractions: Beyond the national parks, the KOA is close to local attractions in Visalia and the surrounding areas. These include downtown Visalia with its unique shops and restaurants, Exeter known for its murals and antique shops, and local shopping malls. The new Adventure Park in Visalia also offers miniature golfing, arcade games, and other family-friendly activities.

Visalia / Sequoia National Park KOA Journey Reviews
Just no.The place is not great. Highlights are the laundry room and husband says the store is good. Why no? It's not a nice place. The biggest problem. The weird topless older white dude wandering from one side of the park to the next. Why?? And why did we have to be so close to him.Felt like a dog peeing on a hydrant to let us know he owned the place. I think he lived there in his old RV. Just no.
May 02, 2025 · Vanessa JupeI had a great experience at this KOA campsite! I needed a battery for my remote control to turn on the lights in my rv, and while the office didn’t have any for sale, the gentleman working there went above and beyond. He had a spare battery personally and gave it to me, completely saving the day. It’s the little things like this that make a stay memorable. Great service and a friendly atmosphere—highly recommend!
Jan 19, 2025 · Julie CongiRecently stayed one night on our way north. Don't let the "Sequoia National Park" in the name lead you to believe that there is any natural beauty to behold in the park or surroundings. You drive through a mix of agriculture and manufacturing to reach the camp. This is one of the dustier camps we've been to. Even driving 1MPH resulted in huge clouds of dust that completely covered our newly washed rig. Not the camp's fault- they do describe the sites as gravel. However, the cloud of dust was next level. There was also a strong "cow smell" (manure) that permeated the area. Again, not the camp's fault- but something to be aware of if you are planning on staying there longer than a night. We checked in after hours and were disappointed to find that we were right next to other rigs even though the camp was pretty empty. This is not some 100 acre property that would easier to service with everyone closer together, so not sure why camps do that. Finally- be sure to be aware of KOA's cancellation policy. We were planning on staying again the following week and changed our return route. Although we called 5 days ahead of time, there is no refund on the full night stay deposit we paid. Wish the woman who took the cancellation over the phone informed us of that as we might possibly have kept the original route to save the $70. The owner did call and was apologetic- but was ultimately unable to override KOA's policy.
Nov 15, 2024 · Zak GrausamPrices are too high. Only 4 sites available when coming in after the office was closed. But there were at least 20 plus sites open?Need to have off season pricing.Maybe the park would have more visitors. Or maybe it's better to be empty!
Dec 17, 2024 · TThe facilities were very clean and well kept! Staff was super friendly! It was a lovely campground!
