Fort Bridger RV Camp, located in Fort Bridger, offers spacious sites for RVs and a dedicated grassy area for tent campers. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground provides clean facilities and a friendly staff, making it a potentially excellent choice for local users seeking a convenient and pleasant outdoor stay.
Situated at 64 Groshon Rd, Fort Bridger, WY 82933, USA, Fort Bridger RV Camp benefits from its location in a historically significant area of Wyoming. Its address suggests relatively easy access, making it a viable option for those searching for "camping near me" in the southwestern part of the state. The positive feedback regarding site size and facility cleanliness indicates a focus on camper comfort and convenience.
Surrounding Environment: History and Wyoming Landscapes
Fort Bridger is steeped in history, being the site of the historic Fort Bridger, a significant outpost along the Oregon Trail. Staying at Fort Bridger RV Camp offers an opportunity to explore this rich historical background. The surrounding environment is typical of Wyoming, with open spaces and potentially views of the distant mountains. The landscape provides a sense of being connected to the vastness of the American West.
While the immediate surroundings of the RV camp might be more developed to accommodate camping, the proximity to the historical site and the broader Wyoming landscape offers opportunities for exploration and appreciation of both history and nature. The open skies and the generally less crowded environment of Wyoming can contribute to a relaxing and enjoyable camping experience.
The review mentioning the "entry road gravel and quite potholed in Aug 2024" provides a specific detail about the immediate access to the campground. While the beauty of the broader environment is implied, this practical note suggests that visitors should be aware of the road conditions upon arrival.
Services and Facilities: Cleanliness and Tent Area
Fort Bridger RV Camp receives positive feedback regarding its services and facilities. One reviewer specifically mentions the "very nice clean facilities," which is a significant factor for many campers. Clean restrooms and showers contribute greatly to a comfortable camping experience, whether in an RV or a tent.
The campground caters to both RV and tent campers. The review notes a "nice grassy area" designated for tents. This suggests a level and potentially more comfortable ground for tent setups compared to gravel or hard-packed RV sites. It's also important to note that the reviewer "did not see any electric plug in" in the tent area, indicating that tent sites are likely primitive with no electrical hookups. Tent campers should plan accordingly for their power needs.
For RV campers, the mention of "nice large sites" implies ample space for maneuvering and setting up larger vehicles. While the review doesn't detail specific RV amenities like water, sewer, or electrical hookups, the name "RV Camp" suggests that these are likely available at the RV sites. It would be prudent for RVers to confirm the specific hookups offered when making a reservation.
The review also highlights the staff as "friendly and helpful," which can significantly enhance the overall camping experience. A welcoming and accommodating staff can provide valuable assistance and contribute to a positive atmosphere at the campground.
Features and Activities: Spacious Sites and Historical Proximity
The key features of Fort Bridger RV Camp include its spacious sites, particularly for RVs, and the separate, pleasant tent camping area. The cleanliness of the facilities is another significant positive aspect mentioned by a camper.
The proximity to the Fort Bridger Historic Site is a notable feature. Campers staying at the RV camp have easy access to explore this important landmark, offering a blend of outdoor recreation with historical and cultural enrichment. Visitors can learn about the fur trade era, the Mormon pioneers, and the military history associated with the fort.
While the reviews don't explicitly mention other on-site activities, the spaciousness of the sites might allow for outdoor games or relaxation within the camping area. The surrounding Wyoming landscape offers opportunities for hiking, although specific trails directly accessible from the campground are not detailed. Campers might need to drive a short distance to access more extensive outdoor recreation options.
The friendly and helpful staff can also be considered a feature, contributing to a welcoming and supportive environment for campers.

To further attract local campers, Fort Bridger RV Camp could highlight its proximity to local attractions beyond the historic site, such as any nearby hiking trails, fishing spots, or scenic drives. Emphasizing the quiet and peaceful atmosphere (if applicable) could also be a draw for those seeking a relaxing getaway.
A potential promotional aspect could be a discount or special offer for local residents or perhaps a package deal that includes admission to the Fort Bridger Historic Site. Highlighting the family-friendly nature of the campground could also attract local families looking for a camping destination.
Important Considerations: Entry Road and Tent Site Amenities
Local users considering Fort Bridger RV Camp should be aware of a couple of points mentioned in the reviews:
- Potholed Entry Road: The gravel entry road was reported to be quite potholed in August 2024. While this might be temporary, it's something to be aware of, especially for those with lower-clearance vehicles or trailers.
- No Electric in Tent Area: Tent campers should note that the grassy tent area apparently does not have electrical hookups. They will need to rely on battery power or other off-grid solutions for their electrical needs.
- Navigation Upon Arrival: One reviewer noted that the "guide" did not provide direct guidance to the site, relying on a map and arm waving. While the staff was friendly, be prepared to navigate to your site upon arrival.
Despite these minor points, the overall sentiment of the reviews is positive, focusing on the spaciousness of the sites and the cleanliness of the facilities.
Conclusion: A Comfortable and Convenient Camping Choice Near You

The clean facilities and friendly staff contribute to a positive camping experience. Nice large sites. Plenty of room. Entry road gravel and quite potholed in Aug 2024. Staff friendly and helpful, but 'guide' sped to our site in a golf cart leaving us to navigate from map and find her waving her arm to show us where to park.
