Accessible via a dirt road, this campground promises a genuine escape from the hustle and bustle, inviting you to immerse yourself in the peaceful Wyoming wilderness.
The environment surrounding Meeks Cabin Campground is described as "Beautiful and secluded," immediately highlighting its key appeal for those seeking a more private and intimate connection with nature. The dirt road access contributes to this sense of seclusion, ensuring a quieter and less trafficked camping experience. Situated within the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, campers can anticipate being surrounded by the natural splendor of the region, including potentially dense forests, varying terrain, and the sights and sounds of local wildlife. This setting provides a perfect backdrop for relaxation, exploration, and a genuine retreat into nature.
In terms of services and amenities, Meeks Cabin Campground offers essential facilities to ensure a comfortable stay. A significant positive mentioned by a recent visitor is the availability of "free drinking water," a valuable amenity that enhances the camping experience, especially for longer stays. The campsites themselves are reported to be "clean with lots of space," providing ample room for tents, gear, and enjoying the outdoor setting. The considerate nature of fellow campers, respecting "quiet times," contributes to the peaceful atmosphere of the campground, making it conducive to restful nights and a relaxed environment throughout the day.
One of the recreational activities often associated with camping is fishing, and Meeks Cabin Campground is located near opportunities for angling. While one reviewer noted that "the fishing was not the best for shore fishing," they did mention hearing about successful catches from boaters on the water. This suggests that while shore fishing might present a greater challenge, those with access to boats may find more fruitful fishing experiences. The reviewer's detailed account of their attempts, from worms to various artificial baits, highlights the presence of fish in the area, even if they proved elusive from the shore. For local anglers, bringing a boat might significantly enhance their fishing prospects at nearby waters.
A particularly noteworthy feature of Meeks Cabin Campground is its exceptional affordability. At just "$18 for up to 14 days," as mentioned by a satisfied camper, the cost-effectiveness of this location is truly remarkable. This incredible value makes it an accessible option for a wide range of local users, from individuals and couples to families looking for an extended camping trip without breaking the bank. The low cost relative to the potential length of stay underscores the campground's commitment to providing an affordable outdoor experience in a beautiful setting.
The sense of community at Meeks Cabin Campground also stands out in the reviews. One visitor described the "Neighbors were kind and talked more that anyone of neighbors in the city and had plenty of info if I needed it." This highlights a welcoming and friendly atmosphere among campers, where interactions are positive and helpful. This sense of community can greatly enhance the overall camping experience, providing opportunities for sharing experiences and local knowledge.
Addressing a point of contention from another review, a more recent visitor offered a contrasting perspective on the impact of weather, emphasizing that rain is a natural part of the mountain environment and should be expected and prepared for during any camping trip. This highlights the importance of being prepared for varying weather conditions when camping in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. The positive reviewer noted that the rain they experienced "only at night" and found it to be a "nice refreshing change to the warm night," illustrating that even weather can be part of a memorable camping experience when approached with the right mindset and preparation.
The overall sentiment from the more detailed review is overwhelmingly positive, with the camper stating that their group, including their girlfriend, two kids, and daughter, had a "very memorable and enjoyable experience" and intend to return. This personal recommendation speaks volumes about the quality of the campground and the positive experiences it offers to local users. The combination of seclusion, natural beauty, affordability, and a welcoming community creates a compelling package for those seeking "camping near me" that goes beyond just a place to pitch a tent.
For local users considering a trip to Meeks Cabin Campground, it's important to note the "Dirt road access only," which might require vehicles with higher clearance or at least careful driving. However, the reward for navigating this access is the tranquility and seclusion that awaits. Be sure to pack all necessary camping gear, including layers of clothing to accommodate potential weather changes, and fishing equipment if you plan to fish, keeping in mind the advice regarding shore versus boat fishing. The availability of free drinking water is a significant convenience, but it's always wise to bring extra water or a water filtration system as a backup.
In conclusion, Meeks Cabin Campground offers a fantastic opportunity for local residents to enjoy the natural beauty of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest in a secluded and affordable setting. The clean and spacious campsites, coupled with the availability of free drinking water and a welcoming community atmosphere, contribute to a positive camping experience. While shore fishing might be challenging, the potential for boating and fishing exists nearby. The incredibly low cost for an extended stay makes this campground an exceptional value for those seeking "camping near me" that provides a true escape into nature without breaking the bank. Prepare for a dirt road journey to discover this hidden gem and create your own memorable camping experience at Meeks Cabin Campground.

Meeks Cabin Campground Reviews
Beautiful and secluded. Dirt road access only.
Jul 11, 2024 · Zac ChristensenMy girlfriend and I came up here just recently and we only stayed one night when we were going to stay two because one of us fell ill unfortunately but the over all experience was great! The fishing was not the best for shore fishing but heard a few people on boats bragging about catching the "big one" on a boat as they jumped off their motorcycles and onto the boat they caught it on. I tried everything from worms to bright green garlic powder bait with an additional power bait oil. I also tried about 8 different spinners with no luck. Although I did not catch anything it was a fun experience and an old wise man once said, "If you do not catch anything, don't blame the experience, blame yourself for not being prepared."The sites we're clean with lots of space and free drinking water. Everyone was considerate of the quiet times and it did rain a bit but only at night and it was a nice refreshing change to the warm night.Considering it's only 18$ for up to 14 days I'm not sure how you can complain.Neighbors were kind and talked more that anyone of neighbors in the city and had plenty of info if I needed it.I'm not quite sure why the first person on here would complain about the site because it rained like it's the fault of the site, It's called camping for a reason. Just like preparation for food, water and other things needed. That is on you for not checking or just being unaware that it rains more in the mountains. I give that first review -1*.Hope this review helps but my girlfriend her two kids my daughter and I had a very memorable and enjoyable experience and will be going back!
Jul 23, 2018 · **My wife went up here camping, just like we do every year and usually love it. There is usually a camp host and they are usually great, but I guess there wasn’t one this year. So the people that operate it came through and they were very pushy and not friendly and disrespectful towards my wife and kids. She told me that it was a good thing that I wasn’t there.. Not sure why they felt that they needed to act this way, but that doesn’t seem like a good way to keep people coming back to their camp ground.
