Lyman KOA Journey Introduce
Seeking a clean, quiet, and well-maintained "camping near me" option in Wyoming? Look no further than Lyman KOA Journey, located in Lyman. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground offers a range of amenities and a peaceful environment, making it a great choice for tent campers, RVers, and those looking for cabin rentals. While it's an older campground, the emphasis on cleanliness and customer service shines through, promising a comfortable and enjoyable stay for those exploring western Wyoming or passing through the area.
Serene Environment with Mature Trees: Lyman KOA Journey is praised for its quiet atmosphere, particularly noted by a visitor who appreciated the contrast to a noisier campground in Utah. The presence of trees adds to the serene environment, providing shade and a more natural camping feel. The campground is described as having "lots of grass," which can enhance the overall appeal and comfort of the campsites. While one reviewer mentioned intense winds during their late August stay, it's important to note that wind can be a common factor in Wyoming, and the generally quiet and treed environment remains a significant draw for those seeking a peaceful retreat.
Clean and Well-Maintained Facilities: A recurring theme in the customer reviews is the exceptional cleanliness of the facilities at Lyman KOA Journey. One camper specifically highlighted the "super clean" showers, while another noted that the bathrooms, although older, were "immaculate." The presence of a "nice laundry" facility is also a significant convenience for travelers, especially those on longer trips. The campground also boasts a pool and a pavilion, offering additional recreational and gathering spaces for guests. These well-maintained amenities contribute to a comfortable and enjoyable camping experience.
Large Campsites with Options for Every Camper: Visitors have noted that the campsites at Lyman KOA Journey are "large for camping," providing ample space for setting up tents or maneuvering RVs. The campground offers a variety of site types, including RV sites with hookups and tent sites. One reviewer learned the importance of внимательно booking online at KOA.com to ensure the desired amenities, as their tent site did not have electricity. This highlights the need for careful selection during the booking process to match your specific needs. The availability of both hookup and non-hookup sites, as well as cabin rentals, makes Lyman KOA Journey a versatile option for different types of campers.
Good Customer Service: Positive interactions with the staff are another highlight mentioned in the reviews. One camper specifically praised the "good" customer service, while another recounted a "very nice young woman" who welcomed them and showed them to their site. This suggests that the management and staff at Lyman KOA Journey are friendly and helpful, contributing to a positive overall experience for guests.
Dog-Friendly with a Dedicated Area: For those traveling with furry companions, Lyman KOA Journey offers a dog run, which is a valuable amenity allowing pets to exercise and socialize off-leash in a designated area. While one reviewer suggested that a bench inside the dog run would be a welcome addition for pet parents, the provision of a dog run itself is a significant plus for pet owners.
Embrace the "True Camping Mode": One unique aspect of Lyman KOA Journey, as pointed out by a reviewer, is the lack of TV stations. While this might be a drawback for some, the reviewer embraced it as an opportunity to disconnect and enjoy the "true camping mode" by reading and relaxing. However, for those needing to stay connected, the campground does offer Wi-Fi, which was reported to be "pretty good," although occasional dropouts might occur. This balance of encouraging a digital detox while still providing internet access caters to a range of camper preferences.
Strong Water Pressure and Hot Water: The showers at Lyman KOA Journey received a notable mention for their exceptionally strong water pressure and ample hot water, described as "like we’ve never seen" and "almost too strong!" This is a significant comfort factor for campers, especially after a day of outdoor activities.
Recommendation for Passing Through and Return Visits: The overall positive experiences of the reviewers led to a recommendation of Lyman KOA Journey as a great place to stay while passing through the area. One reviewer even stated they "would return if we’re in the area again," indicating a high level of satisfaction with their stay.

Lyman KOA Journey Reviews
The lots were large for camping. No electricity at my site, which was my oversite as I booked a tent site as opposed to a hook-up site so make sure you pay attention when you book online at KOA.com. The shower was super clean! Customer Service was good. Quiet and had trees.
Dec 31, 2024 · Laura RisheillWe liked this campground. We stayed for a weekend toward the end of August, when probably local kids are back in school. A very nice young woman welcomed us and showed us to our site. There were lots of spaces available and it was wonderfully quiet. We had just come from another campground down the road, in South Weber, UT, which is in the flight path of supersonic jets from Hill Air Force Base, where the noise was intense from both the highway and the jets. This campground was quiet, serene, and it was enjoyable to sit outside! The weekend we were there, the wind was intense, to the point that we could not keep our awning out. It’s an older campground, but everything is extremely clean and well-taken care of. This campground has RV sites, tent sites and cabins. There is lots of grass. The camp store is nice, the bathrooms are older, but immaculate, and there’s a nice laundry, pool and pavilion. There’s also a dog run which we appreciated. The dog run is lacking a place to sit for pet parents. Yes, there’s a bench outside the run, but it would work so much better if the bench was inside. The showers had water pressure like we’ve never seen, it was almost too strong! Plenty of hot water. There’s NO TV stations here, so it forces you into the true camping mode – grab a book and relax. The WIFI is pretty good – at times I got knocked off, but it worked satisfactorily. We recommend this campground to stay at as you’re passing through, and we would return if we’re in the area again!
Aug 27, 2024 · M VGreat location for our purpose. Close but not too close to I-80. Nice camp spots with a picnic table and fire pit. Playground for the kids and several cute cabins. The owners were very accommodating and helpful
Sep 16, 2024 · Lois HicksThe perfect KOA Journey campground for through-travelers. The staff was great, and even though the campground is not huge, we still had a golf cart escort to our site. Nice touch. Great outdoors atmosphere and considerably more grass and trees than your typical "off the highway" KOA. The free WiFi was good but not super fast. We did have a 5G cellular connection with T Mobile, so we ended up using this instead of the campground WiFi. My summary: excellent KOA and I recommend it. Safe travels everyone!
Aug 28, 2024 · Mike Brewer (Curly)This campground was charming and natural with shade trees and lots of grass for the tent sites, quiet and clean, lots of tent space and some cabins. Staff helped with parking my RV and getting plugged in. Priced better than most KOAs and a gentler atmosphere. Would definitely stay again.
