Warrior Creek Campground Introduce
Looking for an exciting "camping near me" destination that combines outdoor adventure with family-friendly amenities? Look no further than Warrior Creek Campground, located at 7659 NC-268, Boomer, NC 28606, USA. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground offers a fantastic experience with spacious campsites, direct access to an extensive trail system, and close proximity to the recreational opportunities of Kerr Scott Lake.
One of the standout features of Warrior Creek Campground is its prime location for outdoor enthusiasts. One reviewer, who enjoyed a four-night stay, specifically highlighted the direct access to Warrior Creek Trail and the trail leading to "The Hub, Berms n Views," making it an excellent base for mountain biking and hiking right from your campsite. The campground is also near the Overmountain Victory Trail (OVT) and Dark Mountain Trail, though it's advised against riding bikes on the connecting asphalt road (SR 268) due to traffic. For local users searching for "camping near me" with immediate trail access, Warrior Creek Campground is a significant draw.
The environment of the campground itself is described as "nice" with "beautiful and spacious" sites that are "not crowded on top of each other." One reviewer secured a site with water and electric hookups, indicating that at least some sites offer these amenities. However, it's worth noting that the showers in at least one bathhouse were mentioned as "quite small," although they were clean. The availability of bathhouses and restrooms is a definite plus for camper comfort.
Warrior Creek Campground's location also provides easy access to the numerous attractions around Kerr Scott Lake. Reviewers mentioned "numerous playgrounds, boat launches, and picnic areas around the lake," making it a "Great Family vacation location!" For those looking for "camping near me" with opportunities for boating, fishing, and family outings by the water, this campground serves as an ideal gateway.
One recent review confirmed that "Warrior Creek Campground is OPEN" and that a previously reported "sinkhole is fixed," reassuring potential visitors about the campground's operational status and safety. The reviewer also reiterated that the "Sites are beautiful and spacious!" and emphasized the "Lots of access to the water for fishing and boating." Additionally, they mentioned that "There is an area to swim as well although they don't call it a swim beach anymore," suggesting that while there might not be a formally designated swimming beach, there is still a place where campers can enjoy swimming in the lake.
The campground is also noted to have "Tons of trails for walking/bike riding/running," further underscoring its appeal to active outdoor enthusiasts. The presence of "Bathhouses, restrooms, playgrounds" adds to the convenience and family-friendly nature of the location. Importantly for pet owners searching for "camping near me," Warrior Creek Campground is "Dog friendly!"
A practical note for trail users is that "the trails are closed during and shortly after rainy periods," so it's advisable to check trail conditions, especially if planning activities immediately following rain.
Finally, the campground's proximity to Wilkesboro offers the convenience of nearby "eateries and breweries," providing options for dining and entertainment outside of the campground itself. This blend of natural beauty, outdoor activities, and access to local amenities makes Warrior Creek Campground a well-rounded choice for those seeking "camping near me."

Warrior Creek Campground Reviews
Spent 4 nights at Warrior Creek CG and had a lot of fun. My wife shoo'd me out of the house, so I loaded up the camper/mtn bike and headed out. Nice campground and I had an excellent site with water and electric, but showers in one bathhouse were quite small, clean, but small. Sites are spacious and not crowded on top of each other. Warrior Creek Trail and the trail that runs to The Hub, Berms n Views, can be accessed directly from the campground. The Overmountain Victory Trail (OVT) and Dark Mountain Trail are located at the W. Kerr Scott Dam and I DO NOT recommend riding the asphalt road, SR 268, from WCCG to the dam unless you've paid the premium on your life insurance policy. It's a busy road country road. The CG is close to Wilksboro with eateries and breweries to select from. Note-the trails are closed during and shortly after rainy periods. There are numerous playgrounds, boat launches, and picnic areas around the lake. Great Family vacation location!

Jun 13, 2023 · Eileen LawsonPopular campground for families! Large lots, back-ins, pull- through. Water and electric only. Bathhouses, 2 dumps. Picnic tables, fire ring, and nice grills on each site. Some sites have river views. Fishing, playground, biking, hiking, enjoy the peace and quiet mostly!
Oct 14, 2023 · Joy SeekerNice park. First site was unlevel (14) so we moved to another site (58). The second site was amazing, level and spacious. The electric and water were good, the gravel was good, the picnic table was enormous, there were 2 lantern hooks, and a fire ring. The spot was so big, we probably could have fit 2 RVs there. The spot was quiet. It was at the very bad of the park down a pretty curvy and narrow road but my husband said it wasn’t too bad to drive the class A.My only real complaints were that there was poison ivy right beside our site. My son is highly allergic so I was nervous. And the dump station near us was a tight squeeze for our 38ft class A.We didn’t go to the lake or anything so I can’t speak of that.My husband went for a run and said that the second loop was very overgrown and looked rough.
Jul 15, 2020 · KylieGreat campground. The management is kind and understanding. I usually go with large groups and we rent out a big group of plots. Land is well maintained and bathrooms are as well. I recommend that you go in the spring rather than the summer for less bugs. Always a great experience overall.
