White River Campground Introduce
Welcome, local residents and outdoor enthusiasts, to White River Campground, located at 11299 E 234th St in Cicero, Indiana. For those searching for "camping near me," White River Campground presents itself as a local option with generally positive feedback from visitors. However, it is important to consider all available information, including some reported challenges, to make an informed decision about your camping experience. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of White River Campground based on the limited reviews available online.
One of the key takeaways from the existing reviews is that many visitors have had "mostly positive experiences" at White River Campground. This suggests that the campground generally provides a satisfactory environment and services for its guests. The location in Cicero, Indiana, offers a local getaway for residents of the surrounding areas, potentially providing a convenient escape into nature without extensive travel. The specific environment of the campground, such as the layout of campsites, the presence of trees or open spaces, or its proximity to the White River itself, is not detailed in the provided reviews. Local users familiar with the Cicero area might have a general understanding of the landscape to expect.
However, one review highlights a significant environmental concern that potential campers should be aware of, particularly those planning to stay in the "A section" of the campground. This reviewer specifically advises staying away from the A section if rain is forecasted. They reported experiencing "4-6” of standing water" around their tow vehicle and camper, resulting in an "absolute mud-fest" during their stay. This indicates that at least a portion of the campground, specifically the A section and perhaps sites A6 and A7 in particular, may be prone to significant flooding and poor drainage during periods of rain. This is crucial information for anyone planning a visit, as it could severely impact their comfort and the usability of their campsite.
The second review brings to light concerns regarding customer service and campground policies. A senior citizen couple, where the husband is a disabled veteran, inquired about a discount but were apparently not offered one. They had a prepaid reservation that coincided with recent flooding due to unusual spring weather. When they were unable to get a refund for their unusable campsite, they asked if they could reschedule their booking for later in the season without losing the money they had already paid. According to the review, they had received no response to this request at the time of posting. This account raises questions about the campground's flexibility regarding cancellations or rescheduling due to unforeseen circumstances like severe weather, as well as their communication with customers, particularly in addressing concerns and requests.
Regarding services and features, the limited reviews do not provide much specific information. The fact that there are designated "sections" (like the A section) suggests that the campground is organized into different areas, potentially with varying types of campsites or amenities. However, details about the availability of RV hookups (water, electricity, sewer), tent sites, restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, fire pits, picnic tables, or recreational areas are not mentioned. The absence of this information makes it difficult to assess the overall facilities and services offered at White River Campground. Local users seeking specific amenities would need to inquire directly with the campground.
The features of White River Campground are also not detailed in the provided reviews. The name itself suggests a proximity to the White River, which could be a potential feature offering opportunities for fishing, boating, or scenic views. However, the reviews do not confirm direct access to the river or mention any related amenities. The "mostly positive experiences" reported by some visitors imply that the campground likely offers some appealing aspects, but these are not elaborated upon in the available feedback. It is possible that the campground provides a basic and functional camping environment that many find satisfactory under normal conditions.
No promotional information is available in the provided reviews. There are no mentions of special offers, discounts (other than the senior/veteran inquiry), or unique features being promoted by the campground. The lack of such information makes it challenging to highlight any specific incentives for local users to choose White River Campground over other options.
In conclusion, White River Campground in Cicero, Indiana, appears to be a local camping option that has provided mostly positive experiences for some visitors. However, potential campers should be aware of the reported issue of significant flooding in the A section during rain, particularly sites A6 and A7. Additionally, there is a concerning report regarding the campground's handling of a cancellation due to weather-related flooding and the lack of response to a request for rescheduling, as well as the absence of a discount for a disabled veteran. Due to the limited information in the reviews, details about the campground's environment, services, and features are largely unknown. Local users considering White River Campground should weigh the positive general feedback against the specific issues raised and may want to inquire directly with the campground about site conditions, amenities, and their policies regarding reservations, cancellations, and discounts, especially if rain is a possibility during their intended stay.

White River Campground Reviews
Mostly positive experiences at this campground. With that being said, stay away from the A section if rain is forecasted…the worst of which seems to be A6 and A7. We had 4-6” of standing water around our tow vehicle and camper…absolute mud-fest during our stay.
May 02, 2025 · Matthew AsburySenior citizen couple, husband is disabled veteran. No discount, recent flooding d/t unusual weather this spring. Paid reservation in advance was not able to get refund . Asked if we could book later in the season without loosing the money we had already paid. No response at time of this post
Apr 16, 2025 · Jackie LucasWe had a lovely one night stay here. We were on the road traveling long distance and just need a place to relax, set up the rv and shower. The booking and check-in was smooth sailing. RV park was quiet and beautiful with all of the mature legendary trees! I have this RV location saved so we can come back and do a proper visit and check out the town and area. Highly recommended!
Oct 04, 2024 · Nadia FaulknerWe love this campground and come here once or twice a year since 2018 as it is near family in Indianapolis. I give location 4 stars instead of 5 only because if you come here for Indianapolis, the drive south into the city is a real pain. However, if you come here otherwise, the location is great - quiet, easy access, surrounded by a large park and farm land and on the White River. Sites are level and concrete and the park has done some significant upgrades since last year - sewer at all padded sites now, they are upgrading electrical posts (all new in B section), and filling in mud holes with rocks. All new office and bathrooms as well. Just a great campground to hang out at, with lots of walking trails across the bridge. Beware that weekends fill up and can be difficult to reserve. B section is best for large (over 35') rigs.
Sep 13, 2024 · Constance MierI had a very nice stay here. The primitive sites along the river are kind of close together but staff was very accommodating when I asked for more privacy. I ended up in a very quiet and comfortable spot. Facility was very nice and well kept. It was gated at night and felt very safe. Bathrooms and shower house was very nice and clean. It was SUPER quiet at night. All of the guests were very respectful. The river is really pretty and the fishing dock is fun to hang out on. The town close by is very cool with restaurants on the water. Definitely recommend checking out if you're in the area.
