Actually lived there for about a month summer of 1972. I was a 16 year old runaway who loved Tilden Park. This was a beautiful site with a big fire pit to keep warm and expansive view out onto an open field edged with towering eucalyptus. It was my little paradise - but ended up being too far away from my paper route job in nearby Kensington. I was in great shape back then - did a ton of walking : ) - Steve Garson

The park is renowned for its efforts to "meet wildlife," indicating ample opportunities for wildlife observation, from various bird species to deer and smaller mammals. While some of the park's trails can be challenging, the overall environment is conducive to both strenuous activity and peaceful relaxation.
