Woodland Hills Campground Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the French Lick, Indiana area, Woodland Hills Campground, located at 8128 W County Rd 750 S, French Lick, IN 47432, USA, presents itself as a potential option. With limited information available online, including a phone number ((812) 797-4290 or +1 812-797-4290) and a couple of brief, contrasting reviews, we aim to provide an objective overview of what this campground might offer to help local camping enthusiasts make informed decisions.
The name "Woodland Hills Campground" strongly suggests a natural environment characterized by woodlands and possibly hilly terrain. French Lick, situated in southern Indiana, is known for its scenic landscapes, including rolling hills, forests, and proximity to the Hoosier National Forest. Therefore, it's reasonable to infer that Woodland Hills Campground likely benefits from this picturesque setting. Campers might expect to be surrounded by trees, potentially offering shade, privacy between campsites, and opportunities for nature walks and enjoying the natural beauty of the region. The "hills" in the name could imply varied topography within the campground, perhaps offering some campsites with elevated views or a more secluded feel.
Given the limited details, we must deduce the potential services and features based on typical offerings at campgrounds, especially those that appeal to families and friends, as indicated by one of the reviews. Local users searching for "camping near me" might find the following at Woodland Hills Campground:
- Campsites: These would likely include a range of options to accommodate different types of campers. Tent sites for those preferring a more traditional camping experience are probable. RV sites with varying levels of hookups (electricity, water, and possibly sewer) might also be available to cater to recreational vehicles. The size and layout of the campsites can vary, potentially offering both shaded and more open areas.
- Basic Amenities: Essential facilities are a standard expectation at campgrounds. These typically include restrooms and a source of potable water. Depending on the level of development, shower facilities might also be provided. It's advisable for local users to inquire about the availability and condition of these basic amenities when contacting the campground.
- Recreational Facilities: To cater to families and friends, as mentioned in one review, Woodland Hills Campground might offer some recreational facilities. These could include a playground for children, open areas for games, or perhaps even trails for short hikes within the property. Fire pits or picnic tables at individual campsites are also common features that enhance the camping experience.
- Location Benefits: The "Great location" mentioned in one review suggests that the campground might be conveniently situated near local attractions or offer easy access to the natural beauty of the French Lick area. This could include proximity to hiking trails in the Hoosier National Forest, the French Lick Resort and its amenities, or other local points of interest.
However, it is crucial to consider the contrasting review stating, "Would give less than one star if possible. Owner is very very rude." This negative feedback regarding the owner's demeanor is a significant point for potential local users to consider. While the campground might offer a pleasant environment and suitable facilities, interactions with the management can greatly impact the overall camping experience. It is recommended that local users who are interested in staying at Woodland Hills Campground consider this feedback and perhaps try to gauge the current management style when making inquiries.
For local users in the French Lick area seeking "camping near me," Woodland Hills Campground presents both potential benefits and a significant caution:
- Potential for a Great Location: The positive review highlights the location as a key advantage, suggesting convenience and access to the surrounding area's attractions and natural beauty.
- Suitability for Families and Friends: The same positive review indicates that the campground is considered suitable for group camping, implying facilities or an atmosphere that accommodates such gatherings.
- Negative Feedback Regarding Management: The serious negative review concerning the owner's rudeness is a factor that could significantly detract from the camping experience and should not be overlooked.
Given the limited and conflicting information, it is imperative for local users to take proactive steps to gather more details before making a reservation at Woodland Hills Campground. This should include:
- Direct Contact: Calling the provided phone numbers ((812) 797-4290 or +1 812-797-4290) is the most direct way to obtain current information about the campground. Inquire about campsite availability, types of hookups, amenities offered (restrooms, showers, recreational facilities), fees, reservation policies, and any specific rules or regulations.
- Online Research: Conduct a thorough online search for "Woodland Hills Campground French Lick IN" to look for additional reviews, photos, or any website or social media presence that might provide more insights into the campground's environment, facilities, and management.
- Local Inquiries: If possible, consider asking local residents or visitor centers in the French Lick area for any additional information or recent experiences with Woodland Hills Campground.
When contacting the campground, local users might want to politely inquire about the management and the overall atmosphere to get a sense of whether the negative feedback is still relevant or if there have been any changes. Understanding the current management practices is crucial for ensuring a pleasant and stress-free camping trip.
In conclusion, Woodland Hills Campground in French Lick, Indiana, offers a potentially well-located camping option for local users searching for "camping near me," seemingly catering to families and friends. However, the serious negative review regarding the owner's rudeness is a significant concern that warrants careful consideration. Local camping enthusiasts are strongly advised to contact the campground directly and conduct further research to obtain a comprehensive and up-to-date understanding of the environment, services, features, and current management before making a booking decision. This proactive approach will help ensure a more informed choice for your local camping adventure in the French Lick area.

Woodland Hills Campground Reviews
Great location. Great campground for family and friends.
Jan 27, 2025 · Shane CarlsonWould give less than one star if possible. Owner is very very rude.
Sep 08, 2024 · Mckenna SmithGiving it 1 only because there is nothing lower! If you are planning an overnight visit DO NOT choose this camp ground (not a camp ground per se, more like a run down mobile home park) NO REGISTRATION, NO ONE THERE to check you in and show you where your supposed campsite might be (not a campsite it's a spot in their yard with an electrical pole and you need a 100 foot water hose if you want water as promised.) I've left 2 messages for them to call me back 1 the day we arrived looking for our site, we ended up having to go somewhere else went back after 3 and still no one there!!! I have not heard back from them but they took my money!!!! DO NOT SEND THEM ANY MONEY FOR THIS DUMP!!!
