Woodmen of the World Campground Lodge # 1 Introduce
For local residents in Fairplay, Maryland, and the surrounding areas, when searching for "camping near me," the Woodmen of the World Campground Lodge # 1, located at 8334 Reichard Rd, Fairplay, MD 21733, USA, presents itself as a potential option. They can be contacted at (301) 582-3447 or +1 301-582-3447. Based on the limited online reviews available, we can gather some insights into the environment, services, and features of this campground.
One reviewer described the location as a "magical place," recounting a personal experience of meeting their fiancé at the Bless the Woods Music Festival held there in 2017. This suggests that the campground may host events such as music festivals, contributing to a unique and memorable atmosphere for some visitors. For locals interested in attending or organizing similar events, this could be a significant feature.
However, another review provides a more critical perspective based on a group stay. This reviewer mentioned a previous stay that was "not bad at all," with the primary issue being the late opening of the cafeteria hall on the second day of a four-day visit, which resulted in food spoilage. This indicates the presence of a cafeteria or food service facility on-site, which could be a convenient amenity, especially for larger groups or events.
The more recent experience of the second reviewer was "absolutely terrible." They reported a double booking issue where their group of over 100 people, many of whom were in tents, were placed on the side of the campground farther from the bathroom, while another group with mostly campers was given the side with the bathroom. This resulted in pregnant individuals and many others having to walk "about a football field and a half" to access the restroom. This suggests that the campground has at least two distinct camping areas, and the allocation of these areas might not always be optimal for all guests, particularly those in tents needing closer access to facilities.
Adding to the negative experience, the same reviewer noted that the grass had not been cut. While seemingly a minor point, unkempt grounds can detract from the overall camping experience and potentially pose issues with insects or accessibility.
Based on these limited reviews, we can infer the following about Woodmen of the World Campground Lodge # 1 for local users searching for "camping near me":
- Environment: Described by one as "magical," possibly due to events held there or a generally pleasant setting. However, another review mentioned uncut grass, suggesting that maintenance might sometimes be an issue.
- Services: Includes a cafeteria hall (though its operational hours might vary and should be confirmed). Restroom facilities are available, but their accessibility from different camping areas might differ. The campground appears capable of hosting large groups and events.
- Features: The campground seems to have multiple camping areas, some more conveniently located to the bathroom facilities than others. It has been the venue for at least one music festival, indicating its potential for hosting events.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. However, the fact that it has hosted a music festival suggests it might be promoted as an event venue. For local groups or event organizers, this could be a key feature to inquire about when contacting the campground.
For local campers looking for a place to stay, the reviews present a mixed picture. The potential for a "magical" experience, possibly tied to events or the general ambiance, is appealing. The presence of a cafeteria could be a convenience. However, the issues with double booking and the inconvenient bathroom access for tent campers in a large group, as well as the uncut grass, are significant drawbacks to consider.
If you are a local user considering Woodmen of the World Campground Lodge # 1 for a group camping trip or if you are interested in its potential as an event venue, it would be highly advisable to contact them directly using the provided phone numbers. You could inquire about the layout of the camping areas, the proximity of restrooms to different sites, the operational schedule of the cafeteria, and their policies on group bookings and event hosting. Asking about the general maintenance of the grounds would also be prudent.
In conclusion, Woodmen of the World Campground Lodge # 1 near Fairplay, MD, appears to be a location that can host large groups and events, potentially offering a unique atmosphere. However, based on recent feedback, there have been issues with booking coordination and the allocation of camping spots relative to amenities, as well as ground maintenance. Local users searching for "camping near me" should weigh the potential benefits, such as its capacity for events and the presence of a cafeteria, against the reported drawbacks and consider contacting the campground directly for more detailed and current information to ensure it meets their needs.

A magical place. I first visited here in 2017 at Bless the Woods Music Festival. This is where I met my now fiance. Being here, experiencing the music festival here, meeting my soul mate, my life changed for the better from that first moment on those grounds. Forever grateful!
Oct 18, 2021 · Sarah Michele2nd time we've stayed here with our group. The first time wasn't bad at all the only issue was we were here for 4 days and they didn't open the cafeteria hall until late on the 2nd day, ruining food that had been bought before hand. This time is absolutely terrible. Not only did they double book, they gave the other group, who mostly have campers, the side with the bathroom. So now me, being pregnant, and countless others in a group of over 100, have to walk about a football field and a half to get to the restroom. On top of all that, they didn't even bother to have the grass cut.
