Worden Pond Family Campground Introduce
For local residents in Wakefield, Rhode Island, and the surrounding areas seeking "camping near me," Worden Pond Family Campground, situated at 416 Wordens Pond Rd #4425, Wakefield, RI 02879, USA, presents a camping option to consider. They can be reached at (401) 789-9113 or their mobile number +1 401-789-9113. Based on recent customer feedback, it's important for prospective local users to be aware that this campground primarily caters to seasonal, long-term campers, with a limited number of spots available for non-seasonal stays. While its location near water and potential destinations might be convenient for some, reviews also point out considerations regarding pricing relative to the grounds' condition and the maintenance of seasonal sites.
As a listing within the "camping near me" category, Worden Pond Family Campground offers proximity to local attractions and potentially water-based activities due to its location near Worden Pond. However, the strong emphasis on seasonal campers and the limited availability for short-term visitors are crucial factors for local users seeking weekend getaways or shorter camping experiences. Understanding the campground's primary focus will help local campers determine if it aligns with their specific needs and expectations.
Environment and Ambiance:
The campground's environment is noted to be located "near water," suggesting potential access to Worden Pond for recreational activities such as swimming, fishing, or boating, although the extent of this access and any associated amenities are not detailed in the provided reviews. This proximity to water could be a significant draw for local users who enjoy water-based activities during their camping trips.
However, one review mentions that "many of the seasonal sites appear poorly maintained," which could impact the overall aesthetic and ambiance of the campground. While this observation pertains to the long-term sites, it might give potential short-term campers pause regarding the general upkeep of the grounds. The overall condition of a campground significantly contributes to the camping experience, and reports of poor maintenance can be a deterrent for those seeking a well-kept and visually appealing environment.
The review also mentions that the pricing seems "high relative to the overall condition of the grounds." This suggests a potential discrepancy between the cost of camping and the perceived quality of the facilities and environment. Local users who are budget-conscious or who prioritize well-maintained campgrounds might want to inquire further about the specific pricing structure and the current condition of the non-seasonal sites before making a reservation.
Services and Amenities:
The limited information in the reviews makes it challenging to provide a comprehensive overview of the services and amenities offered at Worden Pond Family Campground. However, we can infer some potential aspects and highlight areas where more information would be beneficial for local users:
- Limited Non-Seasonal Spots: The primary service seems to be geared towards seasonal, long-term campers, with only a limited number of sites available for short-term stays. This is a crucial piece of information for local users planning a weekend or short vacation.
- Proximity to Water: The campground's location near water suggests potential access to water-related activities, although the specifics of this access (e.g., private beach, boat launch) are not mentioned.
- Transportation Considerations: One review from someone working at the campground highlights significant transportation challenges, particularly for those from out of state relying on staff for rides to town or sightseeing. This suggests that the campground does not have a formal transportation system in place for guests and that relying on personal favors from staff is not advisable. The reviewer strongly recommends that anyone staying at the campground, especially those without their own vehicle, should bring or rent transportation. The lack of a shuttle or designated campground vehicles for taking people to stores is also noted as an area for potential improvement.
The reviews do not provide information about standard campground amenities such as restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, Wi-Fi, or recreational areas. Local users would need to inquire directly with the campground about the availability and condition of these essential services.
Features and Highlights:
Based on the limited information, the potential features and highlights of Worden Pond Family Campground for local users might include:
- Location Near Water: For those who enjoy being close to Worden Pond, the location could be a significant advantage.
- Suitable for Long-Term Stays: If local users are looking for a seasonal or long-term camping option, this campground primarily caters to that need.
- Proximity to Destination: For the reviewer whose family stayed there, the campground's location was convenient to their destination, suggesting potential locational advantages for others as well.
However, local users should also be aware of potential drawbacks mentioned in the reviews:
- Limited Availability for Short-Term Stays: Securing a non-seasonal spot might be challenging due to the campground's focus on long-term campers.
- Potentially High Pricing Relative to Condition: The cost of camping might not align with the perceived condition of the grounds.
- Poorly Maintained Seasonal Sites: The reported poor maintenance of seasonal sites could detract from the overall appeal of the campground.
- Lack of Transportation for Guests: Non-local campers, and potentially even local ones without reliable transportation, might face challenges getting around or accessing nearby amenities.
Promotional Information and Why Consider Worden Pond Family Campground:
Given the feedback, it is challenging to present strong promotional points for Worden Pond Family Campground to local users without significant caveats. However, depending on individual needs and priorities, some local campers might still consider it:
- Proximity for Water Enthusiasts: If you prioritize being close to Worden Pond for recreational activities and are less concerned about campground aesthetics or pricing, this could be a viable option.
- Seasonal Camping Needs: For local residents specifically seeking a seasonal or long-term campsite, Worden Pond Family Campground is primarily geared towards this type of stay.
- Location Convenience: If the campground's location on Wordens Pond Rd is particularly convenient for your local destinations or activities, it might be worth considering despite the other reported issues.
However, prospective local users are strongly advised to take the following steps before making a decision:
- Inquire About Non-Seasonal Availability: Check if and when short-term sites are available.
- Request Information on Pricing: Understand the cost structure for non-seasonal stays and assess if it aligns with your budget and expectations.
- Inquire About the Condition of Non-Seasonal Sites and Amenities: Get detailed information about the upkeep of the areas available to short-term campers and the facilities provided.
- Plan for Transportation: If you do not have your own vehicle, understand that the campground does not offer a shuttle service, and relying on staff for transportation is not recommended.
In conclusion, Worden Pond Family Campground in Wakefield, RI, primarily serves the needs of seasonal, long-term campers. While its location near water might be appealing to some local users, the limited availability for non-seasonal stays, concerns about pricing relative to the grounds' condition, and the lack of transportation services for guests are important factors to consider. Local campers searching for "camping near me" should weigh these points carefully and seek further information from the campground directly to determine if it meets their specific requirements for a camping getaway.

Worden Pond Family Campground Reviews
The campground primarily caters to seasonal long-term campers, with only a limited number of non-seasonal spots available. It is conveniently located near water and by our destination, making it suitable for my family's needs. However, the pricing seems high relative to the overall condition of the grounds. Additionally, many of the seasonal sites appear poorly maintained, which diminishes the campground's overall appeal.
Sep 23, 2024 · Judy KosudaJust make sure if you are coming from out of state to stay here that you aren’t relying on anyone for transportation or sight seeing especially if you are from out of state. And if you are here to work at the campground also have your set days and stick to it. If you want the best of both worlds meaning the camping experience but also be able to come and go as you please and also work be clear about the hours you can work and I can’t stress this enough, bring or rent transportation. Relying on the staff or management to bring you in to town or take you site seeing isn’t going to work out. One of the biggest things I think they need to change is having a shuttle van or a small bus and not using personal cars to take people to the store. It’s odd. I think that if anyone is coming here from out of state to work here but also enjoy there summer at this beautiful campground but they are on a budget and struggling to afford a rental especially not a days that the camp should have vehicles that those people should be able to use for a small fee. And make it easier for them to come and go ad they please.
Jun 29, 2023 · Doug SwansonSince we just came here for one night to rest , we didn’t make the full experience but I can say, that the lake close to the entrance looks beautiful in the morning or evening and the restrooms were clean. I was not happy with the trash on the sites we have seen there. I know it is the peoples behaviour but I made other experience on other campgrounds were the service teams put immense of effort to get the sites clean and get rid of plastic and other trash until new customers are coming.
Jul 14, 2023 · Fran_ cinMy family has been coming here for years and years. The bathrooms are cleaned every single morning so they are always clean & fresh. The staff are so nice & welcoming! We love coming here every summer
Sep 04, 2023 · Britney BascomThe park was easy to find. It is located about five miles from downtown Wakefield. There is pavement all the way. Signage is adequate. Check in was efficient and friendly. The rules are fairly basic. The interior roads are a mix of pavement. gravel and dirt and for the most part in good condition. Our site, 14, was a back in that was just long enough for our Coach and Towed. Services (30/50 amp and water only) were to the left side. Distancing is close for a rural park. There are a lot of seasonal sites here but none looked trashy. Each site has a table and a fire pit. Our site was flat and even. Overall the park was neat, tidy and well cared for. There is park included wifi but it was very poor. We could not even check email on it. Our Verizon hot spot worked well. We did find some OTA channels. Satellite might be difficult in the treed areas. We did not use the washrooms or showers but we checked and found them clean. There are no restaurants or stores within easy walking distance but just a short drive away you can find food, shopping and convenience stores. We found this park to be an okay overnighter. We paid $60.00 per night and we feel we received fair value. We will be back if in the area again.
