The services and features at Yancey County Toe River Campground cater to a variety of camping needs, though customer feedback provides insights into areas that may require attention. A notable feature is the presence of a playground, which is appreciated by families with children. The availability of the Toe River as a recreational amenity is another significant service, offering a natural swimming and play area. One reviewer mentioned the disappointment that the pool was closed due to a lack of lifeguards or some other issue, indicating that a swimming pool is typically part of the campground's offerings, although its operational status may vary. The staff are described as "super nice" by one reviewer, suggesting a positive and helpful customer service experience. However, a concerning aspect highlighted in a review is the condition of the bathrooms and showers, which were described as "nasty" and in need of significant improvement in cleanliness. While the reviewer acknowledged that hard water can cause stains, they emphasized that the issue was beyond that and indicated a general lack of cleanliness. This feedback suggests that while the natural environment and some of the recreational features are well-received, the upkeep of essential facilities like bathrooms is an area where the campground needs to focus to ensure a positive experience for all guests.
The features of Yancey County Toe River Campground appear to be geared towards providing a family-friendly and nature-oriented camping experience. While not explicitly detailed, it is likely that the campground offers standard campsite amenities such as designated camping spots for tents and possibly RVs, picnic tables, and fire rings. The mention of kids riding bikes implies that there are likely safe and open areas within the campground for such activities. The availability of a swimming pool (though its operational status was a concern during one reviewer's visit) indicates another recreational feature that is typically appealing, especially during warmer months. However, the negative feedback regarding the cleanliness of the bathrooms and showers is a significant point that potential local users should be aware of and perhaps inquire about when making a reservation. Ensuring that these essential facilities are adequately maintained is crucial for a comfortable camping experience.

Yancey County Toe River Campground Reviews
We really enjoyed the peaceful stay. It was a nice quiet campground. It was great to see kids out being "kids" enjoying themselves riding bikes, playing on the playground and in the river. Our niece enjoyed herself as well. It would have been nice if the pool would have been opened but apparently there were no lifeguards or some issue that prevented it. We still had a great time. We will be going back as soon as we can!
Jun 07, 2023 · Tanya EllisEnvironment was great! Nice cool weather, awesome river to play in, pretty views. Bathrooms and showers…. Not so much. We used them once then had to figure out something else out they were so nasty. I know hard water will leave stains, but there’s a difference in that and just straight up be dirty. I really like to camp at this place but in order for us to come back they’ll have to get better about the bathrooms because we need em! C’mon Yancey County, I know yall can do better than this! Staff seemed super nice everyone we talked to. Hopefully it was just an off week!
Sep 02, 2024 · Danielle HillWe loved this campground. It was very secluded and quiet. We stayed at site 42 and it was right along the river and it was a rather large site. The hookups are all close by and easy to use. The staff are nice. Our kids enjoyed the playground and biked around. The pool is not part of the campground but costs $5/person and was open from noon to five. Will definitely be back.
Aug 04, 2019 · Gabriel MolinaWe use to camp here several times a year and it was our favorite campground. We haven’t been in two years and we were completely shocked at how it has went down hill as far as cleanliness. The toilets and showers were absolutely disgusting. They are terribly water stained as well as there were spider webs in the showers that were there the whole time we were and we stayed three nights. Thankfully we were able to figure showers out at our camper because trying to shower three kids in those showers and keeping them from touching anything was impossible. The toilet seats were cleanish and the trash was emptied daily but as far as good cleaning it looks like it hasn’t been done in a while. The water was so bad that in the three days we were there it stained our camper where it run down. The guy in the camp store was super friendly with our big group that came for ice cream everyday. If you have a good bathroom in your camper where you can shower and a water filteration system then this could be the perfect campground. Great place to fish, play in the river and a decent sized playground. As packed as this campground stays they could afford to put some money into the bathrooms.
