Moved here in August of 2023 to finish nursing school as part of a scholarship in my company! Outside of not following through with things like promises of having storm doors placed that was supposed to be done when I moved in, as my home was brand new! Now causing water to leak into the brand new floors when it rains and hoping I am not held responsible for the damages. 2 management have left since I moved here. There is no communication as to any changes when new management take over or leave.I contacted the current manager Jennifer twice and now her supervisor Kate before I could finally get another garbage can as they changed garbage companies, we were notified a day in advance. Don’t let your child fall at the playground and get a concussion because then you will start getting park violation notices over a dandelion weed growing in your yard regardless of the heat index being over 100 F all week. Yet the remainder of the grass is down to the dirt. Be careful here if they see an opportunity to harass you to try to get you move out so they can raise the rent cost of the property they will. It’s clearly all about money here and they don’t care about you or your children! After speaking to the manager about the lawn issue including the photos showing the grass as I was confused what the issue was and my son had been mowing the lawn every few days, including the part of yard past our sidewalk where the village signs are all year, I was told if I don’t like the rules, I could move! This is how you get treated by the current manager. All they care about is money and yet they won’t follow through on maintenance promises they make on their end. I have never in my 25 years as a renter had such terrible experiences as I have living here. And I moved here from living in my last residence over 5 years. This one not even been a full year yet! - Cami

Springfield, the capital city of Illinois, offers a blend of historical significance and modern amenities. Residents of Bissell Village MHC would find themselves within reach of various city attractions, including historical sites related to Abraham Lincoln, local businesses, and potentially recreational areas. The general environment of a mobile home park like Bissell Village MHC typically aims to provide a sense of community, often featuring more affordable housing solutions compared to traditional stick-built homes, allowing residents to benefit from a lower cost of living while still having access to city conveniences.

While specific details about the idyllic environment and comprehensive list of amenities offered by Bissell Village MHC are not extensively detailed in general public information, mobile home communities typically provide essential services such as lot leases, access to utilities (water, sewer, electric, garbage collection), and often include common areas or facilities for residents. The standard features of manufactured homes found in such communities often include individual plots, off-street parking, and a degree of personal outdoor space, allowing residents to create a personalized living environment. Some communities may also offer amenities like playgrounds, community centers, or organized social events to foster a neighborhood atmosphere.

Promotional information for mobile home parks often highlights the benefits of manufactured home living, such as affordability, a sense of community, and the potential for new or well-maintained homes. For Bissell Village MHC, the implication is that it offers a solution for those seeking a more accessible entry into homeownership or long-term rental, particularly for individuals or families in various life stages, such as students or those looking for an economical housing option in Springfield.

However, an objective introduction requires incorporating real customer feedback, which offers a more nuanced view of the living experience at Bissell Village MHC. Several reviews indicate significant challenges and concerns faced by current and prospective residents. A recurring theme in the feedback is a lack of consistent and effective management. Residents report frequent changes in management personnel, with little to no communication about these transitions or subsequent changes in park rules or policies. This has led to frustration regarding unresolved issues and a feeling of being left in the dark.

Specific concerns highlighted by residents include a failure to follow through on maintenance promises. One review mentions a "brand new" home experiencing water leaks due to a promised storm door not being installed, with the resident fearing they will be held responsible for damages. This suggests potential issues with property upkeep and fulfilling contractual obligations. Another resident detailed difficulties in obtaining a basic necessity like a garbage can after a change in garbage companies, requiring multiple contacts with different levels of management to resolve the issue. This points to communication breakdowns and inefficiency in addressing resident needs.

Furthermore, there are serious allegations of harassment and unfair treatment. One resident described receiving park violation notices for minor issues like a single dandelion, even during extreme heat, seemingly as a retaliatory measure after their child experienced a concussion at the playground. This review alleges that management's actions are driven by a desire to force residents out to raise rent, with the current manager reportedly telling a resident to "move" if they disliked the rules. Such statements suggest a potentially unsupportive and contentious resident-management relationship.

Issues related to the application and move-in process have also been reported. One individual recounted having to submit paperwork multiple times due to it being lost by the manager, only to have their approval revoked via text message after their down payment and rent were held for over two weeks. This experience highlights concerns about organizational issues, transparency, and potentially predatory practices related to home availability and pricing. The sentiment from these reviews is that the park is primarily "all about money" and that management does "not care about you or your children."

In conclusion, while Bissell Village MHC aims to provide mobile home living in Springfield, IL, for those exploring "RV Parks Near Me" or manufactured home options, potential residents should be fully aware of the serious concerns raised in customer reviews. These concerns primarily revolve around inconsistent management, unfulfilled maintenance promises, perceived harassment, and problematic application processes. Therefore, prospective residents are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution, thoroughly investigate all aspects of the community, including current rules, maintenance agreements, and tenant-management relations, and ideally speak with current residents to obtain a complete picture before making any commitments.
