Brook n Wood Family Campground Introduce
Are you searching for "RV parks near me" for your next adventure or a relaxing local getaway? Look no further than Brook n Wood Family Campground, nestled in the scenic surroundings of Elizaville, New York. Located at 1947 Co Rte 8, Elizaville, NY 12523, USA, Brook n Wood Family Campground offers a unique camping experience for RV enthusiasts and families alike. You can reach them at (518) 537-6896 or their mobile number +1 518-537-6896 to inquire about availability and make reservations.
Based on customer feedback, Brook n Wood Family Campground presents a mixed experience. One reviewer highlighted the spaciousness of the sites, noting, "Unusual to see large sites at a private campground. I go to state parks to get this much room on a site and state parks have a 2 week stay limit." This suggests that if you value ample space and the flexibility of longer stays compared to state parks, Brook n Wood might be a suitable option for you locally.
The same positive review also mentioned the convenience of nearby attractions, stating, "Wonderful place with lots to do near by." This indicates that the campground's location in Elizaville provides access to local points of interest, potentially enhancing your stay with opportunities for exploration and activities in the surrounding area. For local users looking for an RV park that serves as a base to discover the region, this could be a significant advantage.
However, it's important to consider all feedback. Another review paints a less favorable picture, describing the campground as "run-down" and criticizing the demeanor of the owners. This review mentioned an encounter with an owner described as "toothless and aggressive," and characterized the overall "vibe" as "completely off" with "nonexistent" service. The reviewer also found the facilities to be "outdated and falling apart," suggesting that the aesthetic might not appeal to everyone, particularly those who prefer more modern or well-maintained amenities.
This contrasting feedback highlights the importance of considering your personal preferences and priorities when choosing an RV park. If spacious sites and proximity to local attractions are your primary concerns, Brook n Wood Family Campground might still be worth considering, especially given the positive note about site size. However, if well-maintained facilities and a more conventional campground atmosphere are crucial for your comfort and enjoyment, you might want to weigh the negative feedback more heavily.
For local users specifically searching within the "RV parks near me" category, Brook n Wood Family Campground offers a locally situated option. While specific details about all services and features are not provided in the reviews, the mention of "large sites" suggests that the campground can accommodate larger RVs, which is often a key consideration for those with Class A coaches or similar vehicles. It implies the availability of individual camping spots suitable for RV parking.
To provide a more comprehensive introduction for local users, we can infer some common features typically found in RV parks. These often include utility hookups such as electricity, water, and sometimes sewer at individual sites. Campgrounds usually offer common areas like restrooms and showers, although the negative review suggests these might be outdated at Brook n Wood. Depending on the campground, there could also be recreational facilities such as playgrounds, picnic areas, or even laundry facilities. The positive review mentioning "lots to do near by" implies that while the campground itself might have its own set of features, its location enhances the overall experience by providing access to external activities and attractions relevant to the local area.
Considering the available information, Brook n Wood Family Campground offers the potential for spacious RV sites in a location with nearby attractions, which could be appealing to local RV owners seeking a getaway without traveling too far. The larger site sizes, as noted by one reviewer, are a significant feature that differentiates it from some other private campgrounds and might be particularly attractive to those with larger rigs who sometimes find space limitations in other facilities. The proximity to local points of interest also adds value by offering opportunities for exploration and engagement with the surrounding community and natural environment.
However, it is crucial for potential local users to be aware of the concerns raised in the negative review regarding the condition of the facilities and the overall atmosphere. If well-maintained and modern amenities are a high priority, it might be prudent to inquire specifically about the current state of these facilities or consider alternative options in the "RV parks near me" category. Similarly, the description of the owners and the general "vibe" suggests that the experience might be less welcoming for some visitors.
For local residents looking for RV parks, Brook n Wood Family Campground presents a trade-off: potentially larger and more private sites with access to the local area, versus concerns about the upkeep and the overall campground environment. It would be beneficial for interested local users to perhaps contact the campground directly at (518) 537-6896 or +1 518-537-6896 to ask specific questions about the facilities, services, and current conditions to make an informed decision based on their individual needs and preferences.
In summary, for those searching "RV parks near me," Brook n Wood Family Campground in Elizaville, NY, offers the advantage of spacious sites and a location near local attractions. However, potential visitors should be aware of the contrasting feedback regarding the condition of the facilities and the overall atmosphere. We encourage local users to weigh these points and perhaps reach out to the campground directly for more information to determine if it aligns with their desired camping experience.

Brook n Wood Family Campground Reviews
Avoid Brookwood at All CostsBrookwood is a run-down park owned by two individuals with a clear “trailer park” mentality. I brought in a Class A coach and was immediately met with hostility—the owner literally chased me down on a golf cart, toothless and aggressive, like something out of a bad sitcom. The vibe here is completely off, the service is nonexistent, and we were treated like we were intruding on someone’s backyard barbecue. The facilities are outdated and falling apart. Unless you’re into the “rusted lawn chair and burned-out grill” aesthetic, steer clear. If you value your rig, your peace of mind, or even just common decency, save yourself the hassle and head to Copake instead—it’s night and day.

Sep 28, 2024 · Loretta MeisterA really uncomfortable experience. We were new to the area and stayed here so we could visit friends in the area. Our local friends came to pick us up in the morning and were chased down and harassed by the owner.Later, a friend dropped me off and waited for me in Visitor Parking while I unhooked my RV.Another owner approached my friend and asked why he was waiting for me - in the Visitor Parking! My friend was interrogated and made to feel like a trespasser when he was behaving very normal by politely waiting in the designated Visitor Parking spot - he did not even get out of his truck!Do not stay here if your intention is to explore the surrounding area with friends.Your friends will not even be able to step foot on the property to pick you up and take you out for breakfast.Really weird owners, why run a campground if you are afraid of people?
Apr 01, 2025 · Monica StaatsThis is a great family run campground. We were seasonal campers in our new fifth wheel and had a wonderful season at Brook n Wood. The sites are larger than average and the upper loops are more than adequate to accommodate a big rig. The grounds are well maintained. The wi-fi worked so good that I was able to use it to work from the campground during the week which meant I didn't have to leave =). Close to Red-hook and Rhinebeck which are both great towns and the Dutchess County Fairgrounds.
Nov 11, 2022 · Don RobertsThe campground is huge and well maintained. It offers activities and probably make a good place for families and even for bikers like us.Unfortunately they do not offer fair fares. We paid $69 for a small parcel of grass (with roots of the tree) for our tent. The swimming pool is rather small for all the people and the bathrooms are average. One shower, one battery of iPhone charged and few meters sq don’t make up for the high price. We did accept the price so it was not a surprise as we came by bike and we’re exhausted but it would be nice if they could offer different appropriate prices. For example: if you are a walk in, passing by for a night, you pay normal average price for a camping which is around $22. And if you wish to enjoy more of it and stay several nights you can raise the price and give a special bracelet or a pass. But $69, it’s a theft ☹️
