Chinook Winds RV Park Introduce
Looking for "RV parks near me" in the Grants Pass, Oregon area? Consider Chinook Winds RV Park, situated at 8110 Rogue River Hwy. You can reach them at (541) 582-1686 or +1 541-582-1686 for inquiries and reservations. Based on recent customer feedback, Chinook Winds RV Park offers a unique experience with both appealing features and some aspects to consider.
One of the most significant advantages highlighted by reviewers is the park's "gorgeous riverfront location." Being situated on the water's edge of the Rogue River provides a potentially magical and serene environment for guests. Imagine waking up to the sounds of the river and enjoying picturesque views right from your RV site. This feature alone could be a major draw for nature lovers and those seeking a tranquil setting during their travels.
Convenience is another factor mentioned, with one reviewer noting it as a "convenient spot for a 3-5 day layover" and being "less than a mile to Rogue River city proper." This proximity to the town of Rogue River offers easy access to local amenities, dining options, and perhaps attractions, making it a practical choice for short-term stays while exploring the area or as a stopover during a longer journey.
Essential amenities such as "hot showers" and "laundry facilities" are also mentioned positively by a reviewer who had an "amazing time" at the park. These are crucial for the comfort and convenience of RV travelers, especially those on extended trips. Knowing that clean showering and laundry options are available adds to the appeal of Chinook Winds RV Park.
The park is described by one guest as "quaint, family oriented, quiet," and "family owned and operated." This suggests a more personal and intimate atmosphere compared to larger, more commercial RV parks. The friendly nature of the people encountered by this reviewer further enhances this image of a welcoming and community-focused environment. If you appreciate a quieter setting and a more personal touch, Chinook Winds RV Park might be a good fit.
Furthermore, Chinook Winds RV Park is noted for its "pet friendly attitude" and the presence of a "dog run." For those traveling with furry companions, these are significant benefits. A designated dog run provides a safe space for pets to exercise and socialize, contributing to a more relaxed and enjoyable experience for both owners and their animals.
However, it's important to consider some of the concerns raised in other reviews to get a balanced perspective. One reviewer mentioned that the "$50 per night fee seemed a bit steep" given the condition of the bathrooms, particularly noting that these "less than acceptable" conditions occurred during a prolonged two-week rainstorm. This suggests that weather conditions might impact the upkeep of certain facilities. It would be prudent for local users to inquire about the current condition of the bathrooms, especially if planning a stay during potentially wet periods.
Another point of consideration is the lack of sewer hookups at some of the RV spots, specifically mentioned in the "shortermers" spot the reviewer occupied. This could be a significant inconvenience for some RVers, requiring the use of a portable waste tank or reliance on a dump station. Local users planning a stay should inquire about the availability of full hookups (including sewer) at their assigned site, especially for longer durations.
Chinook Winds RV Park does offer "monthly rates available in the $800 p/m during winter months." This could be an attractive option for local residents seeking a temporary or seasonal living arrangement. However, the reviewer also notes that "many spots are already taken for the winter," indicating potential limited availability. It is advisable to inquire well in advance if you are interested in a monthly winter stay.
One reviewer humorously described the park's vibe as more "aging Southern Oregon Hippy" with a "lingering perchance for weed and motorcycle," explicitly stating that it is not a "lofty library and community center, or a more 'country club' vibe." This provides a candid insight into the potential atmosphere and demographic of the park. If you prefer a more laid-back and perhaps unconventional environment, this might appeal to you. However, if you are seeking a more formal or amenity-rich RV park, Chinook Winds might not be the ideal choice.
The reviewer who mentioned the monthly rates also suggested "staying there short-term first, then deciding whether long-term is right for you." This is sound advice for any local user considering an extended stay at Chinook Winds RV Park. A short visit would allow you to assess the park's environment, amenities, and community firsthand and determine if it meets your long-term needs and preferences.
In conclusion, Chinook Winds RV Park in Grants Pass offers a compelling combination of a beautiful riverfront location, convenience to town, and a pet-friendly, family-oriented atmosphere. The availability of hot showers and laundry facilities adds to its practicality. However, potential guests should be aware of the reported condition of the bathrooms (especially during wet weather) and the possible lack of sewer hookups at some sites. The winter monthly rates could be attractive for local residents, but availability may be limited. The park's described "aging Southern Oregon Hippy" vibe offers a unique character that may appeal to some while not to others. For local users searching for "RV parks near me," Chinook Winds RV Park warrants further investigation, perhaps starting with a short-term stay to experience it firsthand before committing to a longer period.

Chinook Winds RV Park Reviews
Convenient spot for a 3-5 day layover, with hot showers, a gorgeous riverfront location, and less than a mile to Rogue River city proper. On my last stay, the $50 per night fee seemed a bit steep in price given the condition of the bathrooms in particular, along with the lack a sewer hookup in some of their RV spots (ala, the “shortermers” spot I got, #4).Note the “less than acceptable” bathroom conditions I mention admittedly happened in the middle of a two-week long, continuous rain storm. They do have monthly rates available in the $800 p/m duting winter months) but many spots are already taken for the winter. I suggest staying there short-term first, then deciding whether long-term is right for you. Finally, if you’re looking for a lofty library and community center, or a more “country club” vibe, this ain’t it. Think more “aging Southern Oregon Hippy” with a lingering perchance for weed and motorcycle.Which means I fit right in.
Feb 12, 2025 · Jim WoodwardWe had the most amazing time here in the Rogue River Community, and it was our "Luck" to land at the CHINOOK WINDS RV PARK...It is a quaint, family oriented, quiet park....The people we met were very friendly, it is a Clean, delightful family owned and operated- I highly recommend this RV parkto anyone who sometimes feels overwhelmed, or lost in the shuffle. They have clean showering , and laundry facilities. A pet friendly attitude, and dog run, and it sits on the waters edge just magical !!! I have some pics I took just before my dog ODIE and I left....but--I'm definitely going to return on my way back home...!!
Jun 15, 2018 · Connie NelsonMy husband and I stayed here from January 2020-April 2020. The park manager is a very sweet and kindhearted man. He threw a Super Bowl party for the whole park and provided food and drinks for everyone! What a great way to bring our little community together! Clean bathrooms (the men's is really nice) cheap laundry on site, but no quarter machine, little dog area, and direct river access. We could literally look out the windows and see the river - beautiful! We were here when the park was completely full and the noise level was moderate but not unbearable. The WiFi isn't the best, but that's pretty typical of RV parks. The sites are pretty cheap for FHU's and direct river access. We did switch spots when another space became available for cheaper rent. When the weather got warmer, I would take my camping chair to the lowest river platform and read. So relaxing!Joe, the camp host does a great job at maintaining the park and always has a smile to share. If you stay for more than a couple days, you're bound to meet local resident, Jack who's the neighborhood sweetheart. He's always out and about soaking in the fresh air and open to any length of conversation. This man has some stories! We have thoroughly enjoyed our time at Chinook Winds and will miss our neighbors. Thanks for the memories. ❤️
Apr 13, 2020 · Tea KlevVery nice quiet Park. No rif-raft people here. Immaculately clean River Front access, it's small & that's ok. They have their own private laundry & shower room, a dump station pets & children welcomed. The host/mgr. is a real nice gentlemen. Fills up fast.
Mar 05, 2018 · Life's Goodwe drove up from Ca. to locate a spot for a month this summer. We thought it looked nice and paid a deposit for 1 month. On our way home to Ca. we got a call from the manager saying the price she gave us was not enough money and that we needed to pay more. this woman I think has Alzheimer s disease or just plain dingy. So inefficient. I tried to call the owners to report the woman's inability to manage but was told the place was no longer with the company that I had the phone # for. Obviously I ask for our deposit back and got out of the deal. I would never try to stay at this place again.because of the manager who is a ding bat.
