Elgin RV Park - Colinas Introduce
Searching for "RV parks near me" in the Elgin, Texas area? Elgin RV Park - Colinas, located at 446 Las Lomas Dr, Elgin, TX 78621, USA, presents itself as a quiet and clean option, although customer reviews provide a mixed perspective on its overall offerings and value. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview based on the available feedback to help local users make an informed decision.
One reviewer noted that "The park itself is very quite neat and clean," highlighting a potentially peaceful and well-maintained environment. This could be a significant draw for those seeking a tranquil camping experience. However, this same reviewer also pointed out that beyond a place to park an RV, the park appears to lack many of the amenities often associated with RV parks. Specifically mentioned were the absence of hiking trails (with the "dog park" being described merely as an open field), no pool, no community center, and no trash pick-up service directly at the campsites. The location of the dumpster, reportedly a significant distance from some sites, was also raised as an inconvenience, especially in hot weather.
In terms of pricing, the reviewer expressed the opinion that the nightly rate of $50 was "a bit high for what is basically less than a Texas state park which go for 25 a night." They contrasted Elgin RV Park - Colinas with state parks, which often include amenities like hiking trails and playgrounds. This suggests that while the park may offer a basic, clean space, it might not provide the range of recreational facilities that some travelers expect, especially at its reported price point.
Another significant concern raised by the reviewer was the layout of some of the newer RV sites. They described an instance where the sewer opening for the adjacent site was positioned directly outside their camper's front door, leading to unpleasant odors that prevented them from comfortably using their awning and enjoying the outdoor space. This points to potential issues with the planning and design of at least some of the sites within the park. The absence of picnic tables and fire rings at the campsites was also noted as a drawback.
The reviewer further mentioned a discrepancy between the park's map and reality, stating that a depicted lake was in fact an "oversized mud puddle." This suggests a potential misrepresentation of the park's natural features. Additionally, their assigned space, advertised as a pull-through site, was reportedly not firm enough to drive through without the risk of getting stuck, necessitating backing up and unfortunately resulting in damage to their camper due to an obstruction. While acknowledging that the damage was ultimately their responsibility, they suggested that a functional pull-through site as advertised could have prevented the incident.
In contrast to these criticisms, another reviewer who works nearby offered a more positive perspective, particularly regarding the monthly rates. They found the monthly rate to be "very reasonable" and appreciated the larger site sizes compared to other options in the area. This reviewer also described the park as "more unconventional" with "more open and relaxed and gravel and dirt" sites, rather than the typical perfectly spaced concrete and asphalt pads. For some, this less structured environment might be appealing. This long-term resident also highlighted the inclusion of all bills in the monthly rate, along with "good WiFi and laundry" facilities, as significant benefits.
Considering these contrasting reviews, Elgin RV Park - Colinas appears to offer a quiet and clean environment, with potentially spacious sites, especially for monthly renters. The inclusion of utilities, WiFi, and laundry in the monthly rate is a notable advantage for longer-term stays. However, prospective visitors should be aware of the potential lack of recreational amenities such as hiking trails, a pool, or a community center. The "dog park" may simply be an open field. The distance to the dumpster for trash disposal could be a factor for some. Additionally, concerns have been raised about the layout of some newer sites, including the proximity of sewer hookups, and the absence of picnic tables and fire rings.
The nightly rate of $50 was deemed high by one reviewer in light of the limited amenities compared to state parks. However, the reasonable monthly rate mentioned by another suggests that the park might be a more attractive option for longer-term stays for those prioritizing space and included utilities over extensive recreational facilities. The "unconventional" nature of the park, with its gravel and dirt sites, might appeal to some seeking a more relaxed atmosphere, while others might prefer more traditional RV park layouts with concrete pads.
For local users searching for "RV parks near me" in Elgin, TX, Elgin RV Park - Colinas offers a potentially quiet and clean base, especially for those seeking monthly rentals with included utilities, WiFi, and laundry. However, it is crucial to weigh these benefits against the reported lack of typical RV park amenities and potential site layout issues. It is highly recommended that prospective visitors contact Elgin RV Park - Colinas directly at (737) 258-3778 or +1 737-258-3778 to inquire about current rates, site availability, specific amenities, and to address any concerns raised in the reviews. Asking about the trash disposal process, the nature of the dog park, and the layout of the available sites would be prudent before making a reservation. Visiting the park in person, if possible, could also provide a clearer understanding of the environment and facilities offered.

Elgin RV Park - Colinas Reviews
The park itself is very quite neat and clean. However, other than a place to park your camper it doesn’t offer anything else. There are no hiking trails what they call a dog park is just an open field so no that’s not a dog park. There’s no pool no community center. No trash pick up. The dumpster is a good 2 miles from all of the campsites, or at least it felt that way walking it in triple digit heat. at 50 bucks a night we feel this is a bit high for what is basically less than a Texas state park which go for 25 a night. They come with hiking trails, playgrounds things to do.. It’s not a bad place to camp and 25 bucks a night. I would consider coming back but not at 50 bucks a night. That’s just too expensive for what they offer. A real negative is the way that they laid out a couple of the new RV sites one of which we were assigned to. The sewer opening for the site next to us was positioned right outside our front door of our camper so we couldn’t sit under our awning even and enjoy the outdoors because of the sewer odor from next door. Poor planning there. Absence of picnic tables and fire ring was also noted as a negative. The new owners need to visit some other parks and see what they offer for $50 a night. Oh! And the map they sent depicts a lake - oversized mud puddle is what it is in reality. So nah…not the best choice. Also our space was supposed to be a pull thru. Due to it being new the ground was not firm enough to pull through with out the possibility of getting stuck so we had to back out. Unfortunately a tree got in the way and so now we get to put our camper in for repairs. Now that’s on us but at the same time if the space had been functional as a pull through as advertised we’d have missed the tree.
Jul 03, 2024 · Rose L RossGreat place for me as I work nearby. Their monthly rate is very reasonable and I get more space here than the other places, although this park is more unconventional, in that it's not the normal perfectly spaced spots all made of concrete and asphalt. This is more open and relaxed and gravel and dirt, but all bills are included and they have good WiFi and laundry.
Mar 29, 2025 · Wanda FisherThis place is quiet, tucked away in the back of a residential neighborhood, but only a few minutes to H-E-B and Walmart.I'm here for my job, will be here for the rest of the year, so far I'm really enjoying it. The management is very responsive when we've had questions. The park itself is dirt / gravel roads and pads, didn't have any problem leveling our 5th wheel and we enjoy the more open feel of this park as it's not like the places down the street which are just concrete parking lots. The wifi is strong. Easy in and out.
Apr 02, 2025 · Anony AnonymousI Used to leave here. I worked with Bonnie helping here remove some scrap metal and cleaned her yard up.Living here Was Amazing. Just Bonnie kept increasing my rent saying it was a premium lot. When the lot was not. In creasing by 100$ everything. Not ok.Living here is very peaceful. Just not the one managing.
Feb 03, 2025 · DarkFalcon 93What a great place to stay. We feel we had the best shady spot However a majority of the park is in the shade. And in the south that’s really a good thing. Park is really well maintained. I felt like I had never had fresh air until I got here. I felt welcomed and secure.Management was always available and takes care of everyone’s needs. Will definitely reschedule next year
