Forest Retreat RV Park Introduce
If you are searching for "RV parks near me" in the New Caney, Texas area, Forest Retreat RV Park, located at 21711 McCleskey Rd, New Caney, TX 77357, USA, is a potential option. You can contact them at (346) 966-5630 or their mobile number, +1 346-966-5630, for inquiries. However, recent reviews from residents present a mixed picture of the park, with both positive and negative experiences highlighted, which should be carefully considered by prospective guests.
One recent review details a highly negative experience, leading the former resident to strongly advise against staying at Forest Retreat RV Park. This individual recounts immediate issues upon arrival regarding a cargo trailer containing business equipment, which they were informed was not permitted on their rented lot due to park policy. The reviewer questioned the consistent enforcement of this policy, noting that other tenants were allowed to have large trailers with recreational vehicles. A proposed storage location for the trailer was outside the gated community, which raised security concerns that were seemingly validated when a trailer was stolen from that area a week later. Despite these concerns, the resident reported daily harassment about moving their trailer, including an unwelcome interaction with someone named Dottie at the restrooms/showers. The reviewer also described the shower facilities as unclean, mentioning the presence of fecal matter on the shower curtains and malfunctioning showerheads that sprayed water excessively. Furthermore, they reported being informed about tenants starting a committee to address issues within the park, suggesting underlying problems. The reviewer specifically recommended interacting with Ms. Cindy, whom they found nice, while characterizing Dottie as unprofessional.
Adding to the negative feedback, another very brief review simply states, "People caught in the restrooms doing drugs!" and a separate one simply says, "Roaches everywhere!" These serious allegations raise significant concerns about the safety, security, and cleanliness of the park environment.
In stark contrast to these negative accounts, a long-term resident of nearly two years offers a considerably positive perspective. This reviewer initially faced difficulty securing a spot due to the park being fully booked, which they took as a positive sign. They describe Forest Retreat as "home to a lot of people my age" and find the park to be "beautiful." They praise the staff for being "always ready to assist and accommodate everyone." While acknowledging that the park is "not perfect by no means but pretty close," this resident emphasizes the strong sense of community, where neighbors willingly help each other with tasks such as pet care, food delivery, rides to appointments, and companionship. This support network is particularly valuable to the reviewer, who has heart failure and other health issues. They also highlight the park's convenient location near hospitals, doctors, entertainment, shopping, and restaurants. Ultimately, this long-term resident considers Forest Retreat a "true retreat" with beautiful mature trees and abundant wildlife, suggesting it could be "your last stop if you are looking for the best."
Considering these divergent experiences, the environment of Forest Retreat RV Park appears to be a subject of conflicting opinions. One reviewer found it peaceful and beautiful with mature trees and wildlife, while another described unclean facilities, potential drug activity in restrooms, and a roach infestation. The gated community aspect is mentioned, but concerns were raised about the security of storage outside the gate. The presence of a tenant-led committee suggests that there are indeed issues within the park that residents feel need addressing.
In terms of services and features, the positive review mentions a helpful and accommodating staff and a strong sense of community where residents support each other. The park's convenient location near essential amenities is also noted. The negative review highlights unclean restrooms with specific issues like fecal matter and malfunctioning showers. The existence of a laundromat is not explicitly mentioned in either review. The policy regarding cargo trailers and the availability of storage outside the gated area were points of contention for one former resident. The presence of mature trees and wildlife suggests a potentially scenic environment.
There is no explicit promotional information provided in the reviews. However, the long-term resident's description of the park as a "true retreat" with a supportive community and convenient location could be interpreted as an indirect promotion. Conversely, the negative reviews serve as strong warnings against choosing Forest Retreat RV Park.
For local users searching for "RV parks near me" in New Caney, Texas, Forest Retreat RV Park presents a complex picture. The positive review emphasizes the beauty of the park, the helpfulness of the staff, the strong sense of community, and the convenient location. These aspects might appeal to those seeking a supportive and well-located long-term RV community with a natural setting. However, the serious allegations of unclean facilities, potential drug activity, pest issues, and inconsistent policy enforcement, coupled with concerns about management interactions, should give prospective residents significant pause.
Given the stark contrast in experiences, it is crucial for local users to proceed with extreme caution. Visiting Forest Retreat RV Park in person to assess the cleanliness of the facilities, the condition of the grounds, the atmosphere of the community, and to directly inquire about park policies and management practices is highly recommended. Speaking with current residents, if possible, could also provide valuable insights beyond the information available in these reviews. It is important to determine if the positive aspects outweigh the significant concerns raised by other former residents.
In conclusion, Forest Retreat RV Park has been described by one long-term resident as:
- A beautiful retreat with mature trees and wildlife.
- A place with a strong and supportive sense of community.
- Having a staff that is always ready to assist and accommodate residents.
- Located conveniently near hospitals, doctors, entertainment, shopping, and restaurants.
However, other former residents have reported serious concerns including:
- Harassment regarding park policies, specifically concerning storage of trailers.
- Unclean restroom facilities with issues such as fecal matter on shower curtains and malfunctioning showers.
- Allegations of drug activity in the restrooms.
- A reported roach infestation throughout the park.
- Concerns about the security of storage outside the gated community.
- Unprofessional behavior from at least one member of the office staff.
Local users searching for "RV parks near me" in New Caney, Texas, must carefully weigh these contrasting reports. A thorough personal investigation is strongly advised to determine if Forest Retreat RV Park meets their standards for safety, cleanliness, management, and overall living experience. The significant negative feedback warrants serious consideration before making a decision to stay at this park.

Forest Retreat RV Park Reviews
We left this place and will not return. I do not recommend anyone to go here. From the moment we arrived we were harassed about a cargo trailer in which contains my business equipment that It was not allowed on the lot we rented. They stated that it was policy, if it was in the policy and everyone was required to follow them why were other tenants allowed to have 16ft low boys with toys aka side by side. The location they want you to store it isn’t even in the gated community. Which one week later someone stole a trailer out of. Needless to say I didn’t move mine because of these reasons but was harassed everyday about it. Even approached by Dottie when I was in my car with the windows rolled up minding my business at the restrooms/showers. Speaking of the showers they are not clean, I’ve seen actual poop on the shower curtains. Most of the shower heads spray water everywhere enough to get your clean clothes wet.People caught in the restrooms doing drugs!Roaches everywhere! Also was approached about this committee the tenants were starting if I wanted to join. They stated they were going to meet once a week and talk about things they would like to change in the park. Like it there that big of a problem here and what are there reasons?!If you do end up here I’d talk to Ms. Cindy she is nice. Dottie on the other hand, she isn’t professional office material.
Sep 02, 2024 · Jenny PottsIn a short 2 months it will be 2 years Forest Retreat has been my home. I came here seeking a place several times, but the park was booked solid .Finally, I got in. This is home to a lot of people my age . The place is beautiful. The staff is always ready to assist and accommodate everyone. Is it perfect by no means but pretty close. I have heart failure and a few other health issues. There's always someone here willing to help you. Walk your pets, bring you food, give you a ride to the dr, grocery store, walk with you. That's what a community does helps one another while living in harmony. It's convenient to hospitals, doctors, entertainment, shopping, and restaurants . It truly is a retreat with beautiful mature trees, wildlife nature at its best. Forest Retreat will be your last stop if you are looking for the best
Aug 29, 2024 · Donna Renee KennemurI had a good review up here, buuuut Im going to have to recant my statement. Nice place, kept fairly clean, they do have a pool, kept somewhat clean.. they have a younger girl cleaning and she could use some help keeping things clean, but for how many people have to use the showers and toilets, it's overall pretty clean.. Staff seems very sweet, especially Dottie with that sweet voice of hers, but are a bit wishy washy and 2 faced.. Seem to be fine with the druggies but if you don't make quite as much money as some of these folks and don't do drugs, they will talk sht about you with the other tenants and make you feel unwelcome as all get out even though you paid good money like everyone else to get in. Not to mention kicking you out after a week when you paid for a month in advance even though you follow all their rules and keep your kids quieter and more in line than they are at their own home, and telling you "I'm sorry the owners came through and they just don't like the bus." (We have a skoolie that was approved before we came. Nothing mentioned when we got here either. ) When the owners are supposed to be the ones to approve you in the first place. Take my word and take your money and go someplace with better people who run the place and don't talk sht about their tenants. Have a feeling its partly because we don't go to their "movie nights" at the pool from dark until 10 or later. My children start their bedtime routine at 8, thank you. Free wifi but it is horrible, even the upgraded, paid package doesn't work correctly. (Although that is through Skyweb so I suppose that isn't the park's fault.) Seems to be a snake in the grass, as everything was handled by Mrs. Dottie who made it out to the owners like she didn't know it was a bus before we came, even though that was the first thing stated from the very beginning, as we have called a lot of these places. Dottie also made it a point to be the one to schedule us coming, and telling us to call a certain time so Mrs. Cindy didn't have to deal with it, which we all thought was strange. 🤔Will definitely be finding a more welcoming, drug & drama-free RV Park next time. Sucked moving because we were here for WORK, to help clean up after the storms, not to worry about the place we already paid kicking us out. There are a few good people in this park that we enjoyed meeting, and a little girl my kids absolutely adore! We did enjoy the showers and pool before we were kicked out due to discrimination for our bus not being as fancy as some of the RVs here. (Also full of RVs and campers that are not 10 years or newer like they try to say they only allow.. )Rated 2/10 , do not recommend. However if you're into fighting with your spouse at night like crackheads and/or do drugs, come on down, this is your place to be!! ✨️🌈 The 2 rating is just for the location and looks of the place. Would be 10/10 with better management. As in maybe mrs dottie needs to find a job in another profession, as handling people / money is certainly not her strong suit. No complaints on the other staff members or owners as they did refund our money (the only highlight of staying here.) 👌
Aug 13, 2024 · RhiAnnon RobertsConvenient location close to the main highway but far enough away that you don't hear the noise.
Apr 15, 2025 · Charles ShawVery clean, spacious and well run RV park. The management and maintenance staff are absolutely the best. Big pull through spots, an electric gate at the entrance and covers over some spots make this a really nice place to stay. 20 minutes from IAH.
