Highlands At Scotland Yards Introduce
For local users exploring housing options in Dade City, Florida, and perhaps searching within the category of 'RV parks near me' for potential long-term accommodations in a 55+ community, Highlands At Scotland Yards, located at 9420 US-301, Dade City, FL 33525, presents a manufactured home community with significant concerns raised by its residents regarding recent changes in ownership and management. While not a traditional RV park, 55+ manufactured home communities can sometimes accommodate RVs for extended stays and may appear in searches for those seeking a more permanent or semi-permanent lifestyle within a specific age demographic.
It is crucial to clarify upfront, as noted by one resident, that there are two entities with the "Scotland Yards" name in the vicinity: a golf course and a separate 55+ manufactured home community. The golf course is intertwined with the community but is under different ownership and management. The feedback provided in the reviews pertains specifically to the 55+ manufactured home community, which is currently owned by Legacy Co.
The overwhelming sentiment from the available customer reviews regarding Highlands At Scotland Yards under the ownership of Legacy Co. is negative, with residents expressing significant dissatisfaction and concern about the direction of the community since the acquisition. A recurring and primary complaint is the dramatic increase in lot rents. One resident states that rents have "skyrocketed" since Legacy Co. purchased the property. Another echoes this sentiment, mentioning that Legacy has "basically ruined a beautiful place to live" and turned it into a "joke" by doubling and tripling the rent, reaching almost $1400 per month "for nothing." This substantial increase in cost without a perceived increase in value or amenities is a major grievance for the residents.
In addition to the rent hikes, residents report issues with the on-site management. One review claims that the "on site management is in hiding," suggesting a lack of communication and responsiveness from those responsible for the day-to-day operations of the community. This absence of accessible management can be particularly frustrating for residents dealing with the rent increases and other concerns.
In response to the escalating rent situation, a "newly formed HOA" (Homeowners Association) has reportedly attempted to engage with the ownership (Legacy Co.) to discuss the issue. However, according to one resident, the owner has "refused to discuss the situation," indicating a lack of willingness to negotiate or even communicate with the residents' representative body. This lack of engagement further exacerbates the residents' frustration and feelings of being disregarded.
Another significant drawback mentioned by a resident is the absence of "organized social activities" within the community. For a 55+ community, social engagement and activities are often considered important aspects of the lifestyle. The lack of these organized events can detract from the sense of community and the overall quality of life for the residents.
Interestingly, one reviewer notes that "the homes are exceptionally nice," suggesting that the physical infrastructure and the individual manufactured homes themselves may be of good quality. However, this positive aspect is overshadowed by the negative experiences related to the management and costs. This same reviewer advises potential buyers to "talk to a resident prior to purchase" and warns that "once you buy a home resale takes forever," indicating significant challenges in selling a property within the community, likely due to the issues with Legacy Co.'s management and the high lot rents.
The sentiment that Legacy Co. has "no concern for residents" and is driven by "corporate greed at its finest" is a strong indictment from one long-term resident. This reviewer, who states that Legacy is the third owner of the community and "by the worst," emphatically advises others to "stay far away from any Legacy owned community." This broad warning suggests that the issues experienced at Highlands At Scotland Yards might not be isolated to this specific location but could be indicative of Legacy Co.'s overall management practices.
For local users searching for 'RV parks near me' who might be considering a 55+ manufactured home community like Highlands At Scotland Yards for a longer-term stay, the overwhelming negative feedback regarding the current ownership and management is a critical factor to consider. The skyrocketing rent, the lack of accessible on-site management, the absence of organized social activities, and the difficulty in reselling a home within the community all point to a potentially unsatisfactory living experience, despite the reported niceness of the homes themselves.
While the community is described as a 55+ manufactured home community, information regarding its suitability for RVs is not provided in the reviews. However, given the strong negative feedback concerning the management and costs associated with mobile home ownership, it is likely that any potential RV residents would face similar challenges, particularly regarding lot rental fees and the overall management of the property.
For anyone considering Highlands At Scotland Yards, the advice to speak with current residents prior to making any commitment is paramount. Understanding the day-to-day realities of living in the community under Legacy Co.'s ownership, beyond what might be presented by the management, is crucial. Inquiring about the current lot rental rates, the responsiveness of the management, the presence (or lack thereof) of social activities, and the experiences of residents trying to sell their homes would provide a more comprehensive picture.
Given the strong negative consensus in the available reviews, local users searching for a 55+ community within the 'RV parks near me' category in Dade City, Florida, may want to exercise extreme caution when considering Highlands At Scotland Yards. The significant rent increases and the reported lack of concern for residents by the current ownership appear to be major issues that could severely impact the quality of life within the community. Exploring other 55+ communities or RV parks in the area with more positive and stable management might be a more prudent approach.
In conclusion, Highlands At Scotland Yards, a 55+ manufactured home community in Dade City, FL, is currently facing significant challenges under the ownership of Legacy Co., according to recent resident reviews. Skyrocketing rents, inaccessible on-site management, a lack of social activities, and difficulties with resale are major concerns. Potential residents, including those who might consider it as a long-term option within the 'RV parks near me' search, are strongly advised to speak with current residents and thoroughly investigate the current living conditions before making any decisions.

Highlands At Scotland Yards Reviews
Just to clarify, there are two businesses with the Scotland Yards name first is a golf course completely separate from a 55+ manufactured home community. The golf course is intertwined through the community. It has a separate owner and manager. The community is what this post is addressing. It is owned by legacy Co. Since they have purchased the property it has been all downhill. Rents have skyrocketed. On site management is in hiding. A newly formed HOA is trying to address the rent situation with ownership but the owner has refused to discuss the situation. There is no organized social activities. The homes are exceptionally nice but I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Once you buy a home resale takes forever. Talk to a resident prior to purchase
Nov 04, 2024 · Michael TaggartUsed to be a great community until Legacy took over. They have basically ruined a beautiful place to live andturned it into a joke. No concern for residents, just doubled and tripled the rent. Corporate greed at its finest. Almost 1400.00 per month for nothing. I would never recommend this place to anyone. They are the third owners of this community, and by the worst. Stay far away from any Legacy owned community.
Nov 05, 2023 · Norm JacobsenWe love the community and neighbors we’ve met.The cons are plentiful. The rude and very unfriendly staff is non existent in the community. They never rode around to see what’s happening in the community. Vacant lots are overgrown, trash on the streets, weeds in the common area garden beds, gate works 10% of the time, and the list can go on. The rent was doubled mid year but the community remains sub standard for the new rent amounts of $1392. A month.Old landscaping, a beautiful pool with NO heater, very few events so not an active 55+ community, clubhouse was renovated and has no taste decor, the homes from 2021 prior have been all pit set but Legacy decided to do standard sets which has changed the dynamic of the community. Lots of homes for sale but can’t sell due to the high rents. This could be such a beautiful gem of a community but it’s very poorly managed.
