Looking for a wonderful camping experience in the Frankenmuth, Michigan area? St. Lorenz Churchgrove & Campground, located at 324 Churchgrove Rd, Frankenmuth, MI 48734, USA, offers a welcoming and amenity-rich environment for both RV and tent campers. As a featured campground within the 'Camping Near Me' category, St. Lorenz Churchgrove & Campground provides a unique blend of practical services, recreational features, and a peaceful atmosphere, making it an excellent choice for local users seeking a relaxing getaway.
A Great Campground with Essential Amenities:
According to visitor feedback, St. Lorenz Churchgrove & Campground is indeed a "great campground" that provides essential amenities for a comfortable stay. For RVers, the availability of "power, water and dump station" at a reasonable rate of $40 per night offers significant convenience. These full hookups ensure a seamless and comfortable experience for those traveling with recreational vehicles. While one reviewer noted that "the spots are not marked well" and the approach is somewhat informal ("kinda just drive where you need to"), this seems to have worked out well for accommodating different sizes of rigs. The campground can handle both pull-through and back-in sites, with most being back-in, indicating flexibility for various RV configurations.
For tent campers and those seeking basic facilities, the campground offers a nightly rate of $35, as mentioned by another reviewer. A significant advantage is the presence of "good facilities like a bathroom and shower that you access with a code you get with the welcome packet!" This provides secure and convenient access to essential hygiene facilities, enhancing the overall camping experience, especially for those who prefer not to rely solely on their own onboard facilities or primitive camping options.
Family-Friendly and Recreational Features:
St. Lorenz Churchgrove & Campground appears to be particularly well-suited for families. The presence of a "Playground, slides" within the campground itself offers a dedicated space for children to play and burn off energy. Additionally, the proximity to the St. Lorenz Church offers even more recreational opportunities. Just a "short walk across the field" from the campground, visitors can access a "large field and Playground" associated with the church. This provides ample space for various outdoor activities, games, and for children to run around in a safe environment.
A unique and noteworthy feature of this campground is the "prayer trail." Mentioned by both reviewers as enjoyable ("Prayer trail was fun"), this amenity offers a peaceful and reflective experience for visitors. It suggests a connection to the St. Lorenz Church and provides an opportunity for quiet contemplation and a walk through a potentially scenic or thoughtfully designed path. This unique feature sets St. Lorenz Churchgrove & Campground apart from more traditional campgrounds and might appeal to those seeking a more spiritually enriching outdoor experience.
Convenience and a Welcoming Host:
The campground seems to prioritize convenience for its guests. While campfire rings are not available at every site, the "first come first serve" nature of site selection allows campers to choose a site with a ring if one is desired and available. The ability to "buy firewood there for $5 for a pretty good bundle" adds to the convenience, eliminating the need to source firewood off-site. This small but important service enhances the camping experience, especially for those planning to enjoy campfires.
A crucial aspect of any campground experience is the hospitality, and St. Lorenz Churchgrove & Campground seems to excel in this area. One reviewer specifically mentioned "Terry, the host, was super welcoming too." A welcoming and helpful host can significantly impact a camper's stay, providing assistance, information, and a positive overall atmosphere. Terry's welcoming demeanor likely contributes to the positive reviews and the recommendation to others.
Pricing and Availability:
The provided reviews give clear pricing information: $40 per night for sites with power, water, and a dump station, and $35 per night for other sites. This transparent pricing allows local users to easily understand the cost associated with their stay. One reviewer noted that the campground was "less than half full on a Friday night in July," which might suggest good availability, even during peak season. However, it is always recommended to contact the campground directly to inquire about availability, especially during holidays or local events in Frankenmuth, which is a popular tourist destination.

Great campground. Power water and dump station $40 a night. The spots are not marked well and the gentleman said it's kinda just drive where you need to. Both rigs got in no problem 1 was a pull through other was a back in site. Most are back in. Playground, slides, prayer trail and the church has a laglrge field and Playground just a short walk across the field. I definitely recommend!!

Oct 11, 2019 · Laneace ThigpenNice quiet campground in town. Small and clean and well kept. Bathrooms and showers are in locked buildings with code access. Nice park for kids, and has a small walking (prayer) trail. Has some impressive trees (200-300 years old). Friendly staff.
