Houston Leisure RV Resort Introduce
Are you searching for "RV parks near me" in the Houston area? Look no further as we delve into Houston Leisure RV Resort, located at 1601 S Main St, Highlands, TX 77562, USA. This RV park aims to cater to both short-term and potentially long-term stays for RV enthusiasts in the region. To help you make an informed decision, we've compiled an objective overview based on publicly available information, including direct customer reviews.
Houston Leisure RV Resort can be contacted at (800) 982-8285 or +1 800-982-8285. While the park's website and official promotional materials might highlight certain aspects, it's crucial to consider the experiences shared by fellow RVers to gain a comprehensive understanding.
Environment and Ambiance:
One recurring theme in the available reviews mentions the presence of "some nice shade trees," suggesting that the park offers a degree of natural beauty and respite from the Texas sun. This can be a significant advantage, especially during the hotter months, providing a more comfortable and enjoyable outdoor experience for residents. However, it's important to note that the age of the park is also mentioned ("Older park"), which might imply that some of the infrastructure and facilities could be dated.
Navigating the park appears to be a point of concern for some visitors. One review specifically points out that the "roads narrow and in some places difficult to navigate due to tight turns." This is a crucial consideration for RV owners, especially those with larger rigs. Maneuvering within the park and accessing individual sites might require extra caution and skill. If you have a larger RV, it would be prudent to inquire about site accessibility and road widths before booking.
Services and Amenities:
The availability of long sites where a "toad" (a towed vehicle) can remain connected is noted as a positive aspect by one reviewer. This convenience is particularly valuable for travelers who prefer not to detach their vehicles upon arrival, streamlining the setup process and providing easier access to transportation during their stay.
However, the reviews also highlight areas where the park's services and maintenance seem to fall short. Multiple issues were reported regarding the condition of the bathrooms, including a "broken shower head" and a "broken handle." These details suggest potential neglect in upkeep, which can significantly impact the comfort and satisfaction of guests. Clean and well-maintained restrooms are often a fundamental expectation for RV park users.
The fitness area is another amenity that received a negative comment, described as having "limited equipment and messy." For RVers who prioritize staying active while traveling, this feedback indicates that the fitness facilities might not meet their needs or expectations. The cleanliness of common areas is also a vital factor in overall guest experience.
Features and Potential Drawbacks:
One of the most concerning aspects raised in the reviews revolves around the park's management and rules. According to one highly critical review, interactions with the "two older ladies" running the park were perceived negatively. The reviewer alleges that rent adjustments were based on subjective factors ("how much you kiss their ass") rather than objective criteria. Furthermore, serious accusations were made regarding restrictions on visitors (friends, family, Ubers, DoorDash), including alleged yelling at guests and refusal to open gates. The review even claims instances of being locked inside the park and threats of towing for "staying too long." These allegations, if accurate, paint a very unfavorable picture of the management style and could be a significant deterrent for potential residents.
It's important to approach such strong negative feedback with a degree of caution, as individual experiences can vary. However, the detailed nature of the complaints warrants careful consideration. Prospective residents might want to seek further clarification or look for additional reviews to gauge the consistency of these issues.
The review also mentions that the managers live on the property, "right by the gates." While on-site management can sometimes be seen as a benefit for security and immediate assistance, the reported behavior suggests a potential downside in this particular case, with perceived overreach and confrontational interactions.
Promotional Information and Local Context:
As a platform focusing on "RV parks near me," it's essential to connect Houston Leisure RV Resort with the local context. Highlands, Texas, offers a location within the broader Houston metropolitan area, providing access to various city amenities, attractions, and services. Depending on your travel interests, proximity to Houston could be a significant advantage.
However, based on the available reviews, it appears that the internal environment and management style of Houston Leisure RV Resort might overshadow its location for some potential residents. While the presence of shade trees is a positive environmental feature, the reported issues with navigation, bathroom maintenance, fitness facilities, and particularly the alleged management behavior raise serious concerns about the overall quality of stay.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, Houston Leisure RV Resort in Highlands, TX, offers the potential benefit of shade and long, connectable sites. However, based on recent customer feedback, there are significant areas of concern that prospective residents should carefully consider. These include narrow and potentially difficult-to-navigate roads, poorly maintained bathrooms, a messy and limited fitness area, and, most notably, highly negative allegations regarding the park's management and their interactions with residents and visitors.
If you are looking for "RV parks near me" in the Houston area, it would be advisable to weigh these reported drawbacks against any potential advantages the location or specific site features might offer. It is strongly recommended to seek additional, recent reviews from various sources and potentially contact the park directly to inquire about the issues raised and understand their current policies and management practices before making a decision. Exploring other RV park options in the vicinity might be prudent to ensure a comfortable and hassle-free stay.

Houston Leisure RV Resort Reviews
Don't be fooled... It's run by two older ladies who base your rent off how much you kiss their ass. Send in a report of a broken item that maintenance needs to fix? Your rent just went up. They live on the property too, right by the gates. They restrict friends and family from entering and will often scream and yell at guesses, Ubers, or door dashers. They refuse to open the gates, then when they do let you in, they then lock you in and don't let you leave... and try to call a tow for you "staying too long"!! The ladies are on a power trip!
May 03, 2025 · Riko ThompsonOlder park with some nice shade trees. Roads narrow and in some places difficult to navigate due to tight turns. We did get long site where could keep toad connected, not super level.Bathrooms were not well maintained, broken shower head, broken handle, etc. Fitness area with limited equipment and messy.Would likely not stay here again, only if no other options.

Dec 16, 2024 · Laura MefferdQuiet place to be so big. Staff is friendly and will do whatever they can to help you when in need. I wouldn't go anywhere else! Thank you, Houston Leisure, for a great stay.
Nov 11, 2024 · Kimberly LaneI bought an RV and moved it in here and this looks like it's own little town. It is well maintained and quiet. No one bugs you and has anything you need. I would recommend anyone to stay here. The prices are great for everything you get that goes with it.I pay 595 a month and that takes care of cable,wi-fi, trash, sewer, and water.Just beautiful place.
