The environment is described as peaceful, designed for guests to fully immerse themselves in nature. While specific tree types aren't detailed, the rural Iowa landscape typically features deciduous trees like oaks, maples, and elms, providing natural beauty and some shade, though some sites may have less shade.
The layout of the park is structured with gravel roads and pads for RVs. Reviews suggest that sites are often well-maintained and level, with nice grass areas. The overall aesthetic emphasizes cleanliness and order, contributing to the tranquil atmosphere. The surrounding area of Oelwein, while a small town, offers a quiet backdrop, allowing campers to escape the noise and rush of urban life. The natural setting, with the lake as its centerpiece, encourages outdoor relaxation and enjoyment of the local flora and fauna.
The campground operates seasonally, typically from April 15 to October 15, weather permitting, indicating that it caters to the warmer months when outdoor activities are most enjoyable. The park also has clear guidelines for visitors, requiring them to register at the office, pay a small fee, and depart by 9:00 p.m., ensuring the security and peaceful atmosphere for registered guests. Pet owners will be pleased to know that pets are welcome, though they must be leashed and cleaned up after, and are not permitted to roam freely. These policies reflect the owners' commitment to maintaining a family-friendly and respectful environment for all.
What truly sets Lakeshore RV Resort & Campground apart are its diverse recreational features, designed to entertain guests of all ages. The centerpiece is certainly Lake Oelwein, offering opportunities for swimming at the designated beach area (at your own risk, within a roped area, and daylight swimming only, with adult supervision for children under 14) and canoeing. While not explicitly stated for fishing, its lakeside location suggests it's a popular activity. They also offer canoes for rent, or guests can bring their own.
On land, the resort boasts a variety of amenities including a 9-hole miniature golf course, a sand volleyball court, basketball, horseshoes, and shuffleboard courts. For younger campers, there are two children's playgrounds and activities like toddler train & wagon rides. A 4-hole frisbee golf course is also available. Reviewers frequently highlight these amenities, particularly the mini golf, Bingo, and carpet ball, as huge hits with kids and adults alike, underscoring the park's commitment to family-friendly fun.
The emphasis on a "family and relaxed environment" is a consistent theme in positive reviews. The owners, Joyce and Craig, are frequently praised for their friendliness, helpfulness, and the evident hard work they put into maintaining the park. This hands-on approach and dedication to guest satisfaction are significant features that contribute to the overall positive experience at the resort. The park also maintains quiet hours from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., with strict rules on music volume and loud noises, reinforcing its commitment to a peaceful atmosphere.

Lakeshore RV Resort & Campground Reviews
Stayed here for a week in September near the end of the season and it was fantastic. Quiet, well maintained park with exteemely nice owners. You can tell they put a lot of work into this place, especially since it's really just Joyce and Craig running the place. Had a couple great conversations with them.I had never been to Iowa before, and this place made me fall in love with it. Beautiful land and nice people. An overall relaxing place to be.The one-star reviews, in my opinion, are full of people who expected a place where they can get drunk and rowdy like some other RV parks will let you. This just isn't the place for that, and that's okay.
Oct 02, 2024 · Spenser GarberOwners are amazing and super helpful! So much to do with our 4 kids while also doing it in a wonderful family and relaxed environment. Very reasonably priced for everything they offer. The mini golf, Bingo, and carpet ball were a huge hit with the kids (and myself). If I could give them 6 stars I would!!! Definitely a must stay!
Sep 07, 2024 · Allison SnyderCamped here for a week just to get comfortable with our new fifth wheel. Nice place, very well maintained. I liked the security of the gated campground. However, It is a little more quiet than I would like. We like to sit around a campfire with music and enjoy meeting and talking to other campers. Rarely saw people outside their campers. If you like a quiet campground, this is perfect for you!
Jul 28, 2024 · Michelle NinefeldtJoyce and Craig are wonderful! My husband and I had so much fun playing mini-golf. They offer so much more, but we were out of time. If you want beauty, service, peace and quiet, fun, level sites, and a wonderful experience, stay at Lakeshore RV Resort and Campground in Oelwein IA! You will not be disappointed!
Aug 05, 2024 · Felicia PowellLakeshore RV Resort was an excellent camping experience for us! The grounds are very well kept with spacious campsites to fit any size camper or RV. You are within walking distance to the beautiful lake where we enjoyed fishing. The campground is just a mile from town so you can easily pickup anything you may have forgotten. It's definitely a quiet place to relax and getaway. Joyce and Craig, the owners, are very hospitable and accommodating and want to make sure your stay is the best it can be! We will be back to visit next season!
