Peterson RV Park Introduce
For travelers exploring southeastern Minnesota and outdoor enthusiasts seeking direct access to one of the region's most celebrated recreational pathways, Peterson RV Park stands as an excellent choice. Located on Fillmore St, Peterson, MN 55962, USA, this city park and campground is perfectly positioned for those searching for "RV Parks Near Me" with a focus on active leisure and serene natural beauty. Operated by the city of Peterson, this RV park offers a well-maintained and convenient stop for RVs looking to experience the charm of the Root River Valley.
The environment of Peterson RV Park is its most significant selling point, characterized by its idyllic location. The park is situated approximately 50 feet from the famous Root River State Trail, making it an unparalleled base for biking, walking, and cross-country skiing. This trail, which spans from Houston, MN to Preston, MN, is renowned for its flat, paved surface and incredibly scenic route that meanders alongside the picturesque Root River. The park itself offers a pleasant setting, featuring open spaces and proximity to the river, providing a tranquil backdrop for your stay. While the sites are noted to be "fairly close to each other," the overall atmosphere is one of outdoor enjoyment and accessibility to nature. The natural beauty of the Root River Valley, with its bluffs, forests, and the gentle flow of the river, creates a genuinely inviting environment for campers.
In terms of services, Peterson RV Park provides a comprehensive set of amenities designed to ensure a comfortable and convenient stay for RVers. The park offers 10 reservable RV spots, each equipped with full hook-ups. This includes connections for electricity, water, and sewer, providing all the necessary utilities for modern RVs. For general waste management, trash receptacles are conveniently available within the campground. The park also provides clean toilet facilities and bathrooms, ensuring basic hygiene needs are met for all guests. A crucial service for RVers is the presence of a dump station, allowing guests to properly dispose of their wastewater before departing. While a key amenity for many, it is important to note that the park does not offer showers, which is a consideration for some travelers. Each individual RV site is furnished with a picnic table and a fire ring, encouraging outdoor dining and traditional campfire experiences, adding to the quintessential camping atmosphere. One unique aspect of the payment process is that it "must be paid on site," as the park "do not take cc payment online," which is an important detail for prospective visitors to be aware of when planning their stay.
The features of Peterson RV Park are primarily geared towards outdoor recreation and family-friendly enjoyment. The most prominent feature is its direct and immediate access to the Root River State Trail. This flat, paved trail is a paradise for cyclists, offering miles of scenic riding through the Root River Valley. It's also perfect for leisurely walks, runs, or even cross-country skiing during the winter months, making it a year-round attraction. The Root River itself offers excellent opportunities for fishing, adding another dimension to the outdoor activities available directly from the park. Beyond the RV sites and the trail, the park boasts a well-equipped playground, making it an ideal destination for families traveling with children. This allows younger campers to burn off energy in a safe and engaging environment. A covered picnic area provides a shaded spot for communal meals, gatherings, or simply relaxing outdoors, regardless of the weather. While the sites are described as "fairly close to each other," the park generally offers "lots of room" overall, suggesting ample space for various activities within the general park grounds. The specific sites mentioned as "best" (9 and 10, then 1 and 5) provide a helpful tip for those looking to reserve prime spots within the park, potentially offering better views, more space, or closer proximity to specific features.

Lots of room but the sites are fairly close to each other. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. The Root River Trail is a bike/walk/xc ski trail that goes from Houston MN to Preston MN. An awesome trail that runs along the Root River. It's very flat and beautiful.Best sites are probably 9 and 10...and then 1 and 5.

Jul 09, 2021 · JOYCE KOSSIECKNice little place for your Root River adventures. Electric, water and sewer hookups. 4 block walk to the river, with a landing. Legion is 2 block walk. Right on the Root River bike trail. Pretty quiet. Public washroom could be a little more well kept. We will be back.
