RC Island Introduce
If you are searching for "RV parks near me" and yearning for a unique and potentially secluded experience along the Columbia River in Washington State, RC Island, located at 177 Ostervold Rd, Cathlamet, WA 98612, USA, might be the hidden gem you've been looking for. Cathlamet is a charming town in Wahkiakum County, known for its scenic waterfront and small-town atmosphere. RC Island appears to offer a distinctive RV park experience centered around its natural surroundings.
The environment of RC Island is clearly a major draw, with one reviewer explicitly mentioning enjoying their stay "on the Columbia River." This waterfront location provides opportunities for breathtaking views of the river, the movement of boats, and the overall serene ambiance that a riverside setting can offer. Another reviewer noted the pleasant experience of "watching the boats on the river," further emphasizing the scenic appeal of this "RV park near me" option. The presence of horses across the road adds a touch of rural charm to the environment, creating a peaceful and picturesque backdrop for your stay.
One of the reviewers encountered initial difficulty in finding the location, but they were promptly assisted by Randy and his wife, suggesting a personal and helpful touch from the hosts. This positive interaction upon arrival can significantly enhance the overall experience at an "RV park near me," indicating a welcoming and accommodating management style. The reviewer's eagerness to return ("we can't wait to back!") speaks volumes about the positive impression RC Island left on them.
RC Island seems to cater to those who appreciate a more natural and less developed camping experience. It is important to note the specific mention that "there isn't a septic pump out but there is an outhouse." This is a crucial piece of information for RV owners who rely on septic pump-out services for their blackwater tanks. The availability of only an outhouse suggests that the facilities might be more basic and geared towards shorter stays or RVs equipped with larger holding tanks and self-contained restroom facilities. If you are searching for "RV parks near me" with full hookups including septic, RC Island might require additional planning or might be more suitable for certain types of RV setups.
For those interested in recreational activities, RC Island appears to be a haven for fishing enthusiasts. One reviewer's husband "loved fishing," indicating that the Columbia River access provides opportunities for anglers. Additionally, the presence of a "sandy beach" suggests a space for relaxation, sunbathing, and potentially other water-related activities like wading or launching small watercraft. This combination of fishing and beach access makes RC Island an appealing option for "RV parks near me" that offer outdoor recreation.
The reviewer who mentioned the lack of a septic pump-out also noted that they enjoyed the sandy beach, highlighting a trade-off between certain amenities and the natural attractions of the location. This suggests that RC Island prioritizes the natural experience, which might be exactly what some individuals look for when searching for "RV parks near me," even if it means forgoing some of the more common RV park conveniences.
Based on the limited information, the features of RC Island can be summarized as its prime location on the Columbia River, offering scenic views and river access; a sandy beach area for relaxation; and opportunities for fishing. The hosts, Randy and his wife, are described as helpful. However, the lack of a septic pump-out and the presence of only an outhouse are important considerations regarding the available services.
Promotional information is not provided in the reviews. To learn about rates, availability, specific amenities (beyond the outhouse and beach), and any special offers, it is essential to contact RC Island directly. Since a phone number is not provided in the information, you would need to search online for contact details to inquire further.
In conclusion, RC Island offers a unique "RV park near me" experience for those seeking a riverside location on the Columbia River near Cathlamet, Washington. The positive reviews emphasize the scenic beauty, the enjoyment of fishing, and the relaxing sandy beach. The helpfulness of the hosts also stands out. However, the absence of a septic pump-out and the reliance on an outhouse indicate a more rustic camping setup compared to some full-service RV parks. For RVers who prioritize a waterfront location and natural beauty over extensive amenities, RC Island could be an excellent choice. It is crucial to find their contact information and inquire about the specifics of their services and facilities to ensure it meets your needs for your next RV adventure.

RC Island Reviews
I'm reluctant to give these guys a good review because I don't want word to get out. But honestly it was amazing we had trouble finding it at first but randy and his lovely wife helped us get there and we can't wait to back!
Jul 07, 2023 · Deborah RigdonEnjoyed our stay on the Columbia River. We loved watching the boats on the river and the horses across the road. There isn't a septic pump out but there is an outhouse. My husband loved fishing but while we enjoyed the sandy beach.
Aug 29, 2022 · Michelle KuhnsAs you fall toward a black hole there is a go no go zone where you must make a decision, do I turn back? It's known as the event horizon. On the border of WA OR you must ask a similar question. It doesn't need to be tonight, you have time. So book a slumber at this little gem of a key hole camp, take a walk on the beach, watch some huge ships chug by and postpone your questions.
Jun 07, 2022 · Don HennickThis pastoral, pet friendly, quiet off the beaten path spot has beach access, spectacular views of the river, opposite shores, and boats that travel this major shipping thoroughfare. Come here to relax, observe the wildlife, take photos or even paint the panoramic view!
