A Peaceful Retreat with Spacious and Shaded Spots
Red Barn Retreat truly lives up to its name, offering a quiet and peaceful environment for RV travelers. One long-term guest who stayed for about four months in spot #3 described it as a "nice spot" with "lots of shade." This abundance of shade is a significant advantage, especially during the warmer months, providing a cooler and more comfortable outdoor living space. The tranquility of the park allows guests to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings without the disturbances often found in larger, more crowded campgrounds.
The spaciousness of the RV spots is another notable feature. The same long-term guest mentioned that the "3 spots" are "large" and that "the neighbors aren’t too close as in some other places we have stayed." This ample spacing provides a greater sense of privacy and allows for more comfortable maneuvering and setup of your RV. It contributes to the overall feeling of a retreat, where you have room to breathe and enjoy your own space.
Reliable Full Hookups
For RVers, reliable hookups are essential for a comfortable stay, and Red Barn Retreat delivers on this front. The long-term guest specifically noted that "all the hook ups work with no issues." This reliability ensures that you can seamlessly connect your RV to water, electricity, and sewer services without any disruptions, allowing for a hassle-free experience during your visit.
The availability of full hookups makes Red Barn Retreat suitable for a variety of RV types and stay durations, from short overnight stops to extended stays for work or leisure.
Exceptional Owner and Management
The owner of Red Barn Retreat, Mark, consistently receives high praise for his friendly and attentive service. He is described as a "super nice guy" and "very friendly." Beyond his welcoming demeanor, Mark is also commended for his promptness in addressing any issues that may arise. The long-term guest stated that "if any issues arise he is prompt to get them resolved." This responsiveness and commitment to guest satisfaction ensure a smooth and worry-free stay.
Another guest echoed this sentiment, noting that the "Owner was very nice and helpful" and even followed up via text to ensure their question was resolved. This level of care and attention to detail demonstrates a genuine commitment to providing excellent customer service and making guests feel valued.
The feeling of being treated "like family," as mentioned by the long-term guest ("Thanks again Mark for treating us like family"), speaks volumes about the personalized and welcoming atmosphere that Mark cultivates at Red Barn Retreat.
Quiet and Peaceful Ambiance
In addition to its spaciousness and friendly owner, Red Barn Retreat is consistently highlighted for its quiet and peaceful ambiance. One guest simply described it as a "Quite and peaceful spot." This tranquility makes it an ideal choice for travelers seeking a restful environment away from the noise of busier RV parks or campgrounds. The peaceful setting allows for a relaxing stay, whether you're unwinding after a long day of travel or enjoying a leisurely vacation.
Important Note: Hookups Only, No Shower House
It is important for prospective guests to note that Red Barn Retreat offers "hookups only" and does not have a shower house. This is explicitly mentioned in one of the reviews: "Do know that it is hookups only, no shower house. For us no problem." For RVers who have their own bathroom and shower facilities within their rigs, this may not be an issue. However, those traveling in smaller RVs or relying on communal facilities should be aware of this limitation when considering a stay at Red Barn Retreat.
Ideal for Long-Term Work Travelers
The fact that one of the reviewers was a full-time work traveler who stayed for four months and expressed their intention to return ("if we are back this way we will definitely stay again") indicates that Red Barn Retreat is well-suited for those needing a longer-term base while working in the Tahlequah area. The spacious lots, reliable hookups, quiet environment, and attentive owner likely contribute to its appeal for this type of traveler.

We have been here at our spot #3 for about 4 months. It’s a nice spot , lots of shade , all the hook ups work with no issues. Mark the owner is a super nice guy. Very friendly and if any issues arise he is prompt to get them resolved. There are 3 spots , which are large and the neighbors aren’t to close as in some other places we have stayed. We travel for work full time and if we are back this way we will definitely stay again. Thanks again Mark for treating us like family
Nov 12, 2024 · Nicholas CurryOwner was very nice and helpful. Text back after conversation making sure our question was solved. Quite and peaceful spot. We will be back.Do know that it is hookups only, no shower house. For us no problem
Mar 01, 2025 · Julie AndrewsOnly three spots. Just the way I like it. No loud parties, no kids running around, and the Illinois River is close by. Chrystal clear water and not too cold. Tubers floating by and some friendly people. The owner of the place is super layed back but expects it to be kept clean. Good place to stay long term. Would recommend to all who love peace and quite.
Aug 12, 2023 · Michael TownleyThis was a great place to stay; We called and asked the owner if we could pitch our tent and he allowed us to stay!My roommates and I enjoyed spending a great night here on my birthday. The views are very pretty, and the area is secluded. Will definitely go again next year!
Jun 29, 2023 · Jackie PradmoreWe went there over Mother’s Day and had a blast! It’s right on the river and the owner was really helpful! There is a park right up the street for full access to the river that was super nice! We will be back!
